There's a fanatic shine in Marcus's eyes, and Jordan thinks very quietly that maybe he would be willing to kill them, just because they're in the way. "Maybe we can help you," he adds. "We don't want to be trapped in this loop either."

Asiya seemed nice. Messy and seemingly empty, but friendly enough. Looking to Christopher, her hand outstretched in response and she shook it, nodding. "Christopher then, it's nice to meet you," She said, trying to seem friendly, even if she was slightly put off-- Then again, who wouldn't be pretending after what happened? What... happened? She couldn't recall too well. She didn't know if she wanted to in the first place. "Hey, Darcie, how're you holding up?" She asked with a quick wave to Acacia, gaze moving to Asiya, her mouth stretched into a smile at the womans' introduction before-- Veronica's eyes widened. She-- What. Darcie's reaction told her she hadn't been imagining that. She hesitated, swallowing before locking eyes with Darcie. Her eyes screamed "I don't ******** know" but somehow Acacia was composed and calm and what.

Then again, she supposed, freaking out about what she already knew was an established fact was dumb. They were in a tear, for freaks sake. Acacia's question seemed reasonable, but Veronica wanted to delve a little deeper, even if she'd just arrived. "It's a very nice journal. What are you working on?"

Asiya seems caught, frozen, her fingers pausing in their motions. There, over and over on the pages of the journal, is The Sigil. The very same one that is now on the vandalized displays in glaring quinacridone red.

Darcie's inquisition is ignored, as if she fails to acknowledge there's anything wrong.

"Did we speak before?" she asks Acacia, head jerking before she looks down at her journal and then up to Veronica. "This is a glyph," she says to both young women, "and it is referred to locally as The Sigil. The speaker tonight was going to be reading literature about this and I was hoping it would be something that I'm not already aware of."

Her eyes trail past the gaping chasm in the floor to the lectern. "The speaker ... he's gone ..." She twitches and shakes her head. Asiya looks back to the young women as if she hadn't noticed that.

"It isn't so-" Alois starts and then his expression blanks. "Simple?" He shakes his head trying to clear it.

"There's more to it than that." He looks to Alexander, his expression perplexed as if the knowledge has seeped away.

(Alexis, blood on her fingers, crouches to the floor and draws The Sigil there only to smear and ruin it.)

Darcie leaned in to hear the old woman talk. She watched the woman mechanically turn page after page, all with the weird sigil. Darcie smiled at Acacia and Veronica, at least they seemed mildly in control. All of this stuff seemed to point right at the sigil, not to mention it was blatantly displayed on the the ruined case, in bright red. Luckily for Darcie all these clues were pretty obvious at this point. Darcie looked between Acacia and Veronica a few times before asking the woman. "So, what are you, uh, already aware of concerning the sigil?" Darcie asked hesitantly. She wasn't so sure she really wanted to know.

Alexander stares. He looks down at the blood spotting his hands. "You could," he says. "If you found the correct symbols to indicate your intentions."

He thinks about it. "Asiya might know. She has made a study of the symbology. I am a painter, not a... crafter."

A moment of consideration longer, then: "It is a complicated hierarchy."

"If you are trapped, then you should understand!" he spat, and for a moment the alcohol on his breath is overwhelming. "You monsters are new to the cycle, you are not supposed to be here! Something is preventing me from breaking it."

For a moment, Marcus throws a glance at where Sunny used to be, where now is only a disorganized mess and a hole no-one seems to recognize. And then his eyes widen.

"Perhaps it truly is you stopping me." His finger squeezes the trigger. (What does it matter if they're trapped?)

The bullet freezes midway out of its slot. A faded image of Marcus superimposes several inches beside the current one, and an echo of his voice rants the word again and again and again before, abruptly, the old man returns to his original spot in the room. Lurking. Drinking. Muttering to himself. The gun is tucked back in his pocket, never fired.

He remains unresponsive if approached.

Asiya looks up at Darcie. "It's used," she tells her, "it's already been used but-" She shakes her head. "Who used it? Why? Why? The Seal has been used."

She jerks and returns back to her journal, the individual parts that make up the sigil drawn out over and over.

"Uh, thanks." Preacher tugged on the brim of her hat, intending to move along. That was a 'go talk to so and so if she ever ********' heard one'. She paused and looked at Alexis. "Uh, like... that's not really hygienic, okay. Please take care of your nosebleed." She didn't really have a handkerchief or she'd have tossed one.

Preacher ambled slowly towards Asiya - or rather the woman in the headscarf. Because, through process of elimination, who else could it ********' be? Sunny was over there, the little boy, then the people she'd already talked with and then someone who looked a good bit like that weird conspiracy guy she'd seen around town. So she moseyed over and planted herself amongst the group.

"Hello, ladies-" She winked over at Victoria again, because, well, keeping up the theme. "Couldna help but overhear n'... I was talkin to Mistah Shore and... Does used mean bleed on or died one - just for clarification? You're the girl to ask, Asiya." She'd feel really ********' dumb if this wasn't Asiya. Preacher smiled at the men present as well.
