"Renard was the source of all magic, before Ascencion was born," said Ezra. His voice had a chill to it. "Liam was his husband. After her birth, they retained their positions out of respect. They were, in essence, the dowagers. Her regents."
He said, "Because as far as I know, Minerva Mercer--Noeh, the Sorrowful One--was the one who tithed Melany. Insofar as such a thing is possible, she created the nobility and their trials."

"... and how exactly do they work then? A structure that holds data essentially?" It was not something had actively pursued but- His face flickered, expression bleeding back in at the way that he could not stop when Ezra said her name like that and asked what he did.
"Once," he said quietly, "Algie met her on the other side. She wore oxfords and had a pair of golden rings on a chain but she wasn't there. Like she was dreaming of it or, perhaps, from another time altogether and out of sync. She simply said her name was Mina but gave no last name and gave him his grimoire because she had holding onto it for him.
"We met her again at the Court, during the night of the red moon, though it was Algie who discovered her; found that the lone doe was Mina and that her name was actually Minerva Mercer.
"It was not until after the world shift, searching the other side, that I found her on the beach with no magic and spoke with her." Had done some more than once since. A breath was let out, Jeremiah looking to Ezra. "Why do you ask?"

"Four, in this case, but ..." Jeremiah looked thoughtful. There was, in his experience, no reason to not trust Ezra. If anything, he had looked out for him more than anything else. While he would look for answers himself, he would work from what he learned from him. "Considering that the creation of the Court would have been a change to the shape of the otherworld entirely,."
There were more questions than answers but he also knew there was a nice and there was a place. Which brought him to what Ezra said and, for once, he looked sheepish before it smoothed away (but there was a barely there pink to his cheeks all the same).
"You have and I do know better," he replied. The rabbit hole was deeper and deeper but sometimes he did get frustrated. "Though there is something I want to ask you that you are involved in."
