Tristen made his way deeper into the cavern, trying to keep on the look out for any Diglett or Geodude that may be around, since they so far caused the most damage. Knowing that there are Machop around wasn't kosher to the kid either; he started to regret bringing Litten out if only for its safety. Granted, Tynamo were around too, but they were an annoyance at best and were easily handled...same with the Foongus, while he was thinking about it. It was just the massive powerhouses (comparatively) that he was worried about.

As the boy and his cat made his way down, Tristen felt something crunch under his foot. He stepped back, looking down to the ground, seeing ice that broke under his weight. He then took notice to his breath that was coming from him. The boy then started to realize it was cold in this part of the cavern, which caught him fairly off guard. Ice types around here, maybe? That could be something that Litten could fight rather easily, he thought. "Careful Litten...its slippery around here." He then said as he started to move forward once more.

It took a few minutes of cautiously stepping on the slick ground it caught the attention of at least one Pokemon. Sliding across the ice almost as if it was a curling rock was a Bergmite that apparently was on the bit of the territorial side. It started to shout at Litten and Tristen to back away. "Uh, sorry...we're just exploring and training...we don't-" Before Tristen was able to finish the sentence, the Bergmite unleashed a chilling, biting gust that was its Icy wind attack, which swept and pelted both Litten and Tristen.

"AAA!" Tristen yelped out. The Litten wasn't phased as badly, though it did catch the cat a bit off guard. "Alright, so much for being nice." Tristen said. "Litten! Fire Fang!" The boy shouted. The Litten quickly rushed forth, but couldn't get a whole lot of traction, slipping and falling over a bit. The Bergmite jumped at the opportunity, rushing after Litten and tackling the cat with all its might, sending the cat skidding back. "Litten!" The cat slowly came to a halt as it slid across the ice. It managed to get back up, looking rather miffed.

"Litten, try Ember!" Tristen commanded. The cat unleashed a flurry of searing sparks towards the Bergmite which bore into its icy body, causing rather intensive damage to the icy Pokemon. The Bergmite then started to form a large chunk of ice, forming it into a large ball. "An Ice ball attack? Litten, watch out!" The ball was fired, rushing to Litten at a frantic pace, pelting the cat, not causing too much damage. However, it was only a small reprieve for now...such an attack would only get stronger if left uncontested.

"Litten! Move!" Tristen shouted. The Litten managed to get traction and started to make its way across the ice. The Bergmite once again started to form another icy projectile, larger and denser this time. The shot was fired, rushing straight for Litten. "Litten, jump!" Tristen shouted. The cat with its natural agility leaped up over the icy attack and was on the way back down with its sights set on the Bergmite. "Double kick!" the boy shouted. As it came back down, it flipped over and struck the icy Pokemon with harsh force from the tiny, causing considerable damage to the Bergmite. The Bergmite was sent skidding away, crashing into a nearby stalagmite. The fight was quickly over after such a counter attack.

"Nice work, Litten. That's another one down." Tristen said. "You're getting pretty good at this."

"Nrrrow."

"Come on...maybe we can find something else in here."

With another battle down, Tristen started his way deeper in the icy parts of the cavern, expecting a whole bunch of Ice Pokemon in this place. Though the more he thought about it, perhaps an Ice Pokemon isn't too hot of an idea if he was to capture one. He's already got his own Weavile, rather, one that he snagged from the rogue in the Orre region, and its not like he has a gym he's obligated to like his father figure. Then again, there couldn't all just be Bergmite, was there?

Tristen would soon get his answer as he started hearing some ice, large chunks of it, shattering close by. Once he found the source of the noise, it was apparently another Machop, apparently doing its own bit of training. Hardening its fists, strengthening its own blows. Sending Litten against that thing was a no-go. Tristen merely just backed away, trying not to get the Machop's attention and just continued on for the time being.

The Electrike hybrid boy found himself back out of the icy area of the cavern and back to warmer temps in the cave. Apparently there wasn't much there other than that one section as far as he could tell. That being said, he had the feeling that was where stronger Pokemon were; perhaps explained why there was fighting types over that way as well.

"Nyarrro!" Litten howled out. The cat rushed ahead and apparently went on pursuit on something.

"Litten! Wait! Where are you going!?" Tristen rushed off, only to end up losing the cat into the darkness. "Litten!? Litten!? Where did you go?" Close by, he could hear the cat and something else hiss out, practically challenging each other. "Litten! Hang on! What are you doing?!" It was a minute later, when everything got quiet, Tristen started to worry. The cat wasn't answering. Then suddenly...a weird call...

"Mrrrooffff..." Tristen looked over, seeing Litten with something in its mouth. A black colored Rattata...kind of chubby looking to. More than likely the Alolan subspecies, he guessed. The Rattata was looking confused, wondering what the hell happened. Tristen couldn't help but to sigh. Typical cat.

"Litten...let him go. Please? Don't go running off like that. Sorry, Rattata..."

"Mrroooommm..."

"Yes, let him go." Litten let go of the rat and without hesitation, the Rattata rushed off. "I'll feed you later, now come on."

This excursion was starting to take its toll on Tristen; not so much as the battles themselves, but Litten. He didn't imagine it being this tough trying to train it; it's rather nonchalant attitude towards near everything was making any sort of training kind of hard. Typical cat.

As Tristen continued to search around the cavern, he heard a chime close by. Compared to everything else, that sounded rather out of place, and didn't really understand why. Further much to Tristen's dismay, the Litten ran off again. "Litten! Oh come on!" Tristen shouted. He hoped it wasn't another rat that Litten wanted to make a meal. Compared to last time, however, the boy was able to keep up with the cat somewhat, managing to find just in time the cat pouncing on something round. It wasn't food...it was a toy. The Litten batted around the round thing, but everytime it done so, the round thing apparently showed it had arms and it was panicking.

"CHING!"

"Litten! That's a Chingling! Don't do-" The Chingling had enough by that point and ensnared Litten in its red and white rope like appendages, attempting to crush it with a Wrap attack. "...that." The cat, not expecting such retaliation, flailed and scratched as best as it could to get out of the Chingling's grip. "This is why I said not to go running off! Ugh! Litten! Use Fire Fang!" Tristen shouted.

Litten managed to right itself in just a position where it chomped down the best that it could the top of the Chingling's head. The searing fangs made the Chingling cry out in pain, it too being caught off guard by such a thing, and subsequently dropping the feline. The Chingling, now infuriated, started screaming and shouting about, its chime like voice was now the massive gongs of bells, the Chingling causing a massive Uproar. Litten and Tristen couldn't help but to cover their ears in head-rattling pain from such unholy noise.

The Chingling then rushed over once more, staring to smack and flail about, hitting Litten with its Astonish while it was caught in an unfortunate position. "Litten! Listen to me! Ember attack! Shut that thing up!" Tristen shouted. The cat unleashed another flurry of embers which burned right into the Chingling, making it back off. However, the Chingling went back on the offensive, managing to pick Litten off the ground with a decent display of psychic power, blasting it back with a Confusion attack.

"We got to stop this now...Litten! Bite!" Tristen then called out. Litten rushed forward and pounced on the Chingling, chomping down with darkness-laced fangs, causing considerable damage to the psychic Pokemon, enough in fact to finally bring it down. It was finally quiet in the cavern. After the damage was done, Tristen went over and looked over towards the fallen Chingling and gave a sigh. "That's...why...we don't run off. Okay?"

Litten, paying not too much mind, pawed at the fallen Chingling to get it to make another noise. Which only gets a droll chime. Typical cat...

After such a long excursion in this cave, Tristen pretty much had enough. Litten was being a little on the uncooperative side and there didn't seem to be much of interest in the cavern to capture. A whole bunch of fungus and floating guppies, with the occasional Alolan Pokemon that would prove too much for Litten in any extended fights, and the occasional fighting Pokemon that would be sure to ruin the cat's, let alone his, day. "Alright, Litten. Let's go back to HQ. We need to find our way out of here...I think it was back this way." Tristen said, making his way around a bunch of stalagmites. It was a notion the Litten was ready to agree with.

As the boy went around, he was trying to find familiar marks and perhaps his own scent trail to find his way out with, which wasn't turning out to be a easy task. At this point, it seemed like Tristen just about combed nearly every inch of this cavern. Worse still, Tristen was starting to feel a little worn out...between the constant walking and using his own power to keep light in his Flash ability, it was slowly, but surely, starting to take its toll on the kid. Every few minutes, the worse Tristen wanted to get out.

"Ooohh...where is the way out?" The boy asked Litten. Litten wouldn't give a reply...it just took the opportunity to stop to clean itself again. Typical cat. "Sorry I asked..."

"Fyyyoooo!" Tristen nearly jumped at the call out. The boy looked around quickly, then looked up. Upon a stalagmite, a Pokemon was balanced on one foot. The boy wasn't sure if this was a pose, or something else, but what is for certain is that after seeing that, the Pokemon leaped off and landed in front of both Litten and Tristen. The boy got a good look at what was before them; a Pokemon that kind of filled the boy with a little dread. It was a fighting type.

"A Mienfoo? Here?" He didn't want Litten fighting that thing either. While it might not boast as much assault power like a Machop could, it made up for it in spades with speed. And if it was like any other of the fighting types here, then it had plenty of time to hone its strength. Not to mention, compared to the brutish antics of Machop and its evolutionary counterparts, Mienfoo had the reputation of not only being fast, but their strikes tend to land with near surgical precision and were about as fluid as water. Why be super strong like a Machop when you can cause just as much damage, if not more so, in hitting something more tender on the opponent?

Tristen backed away. "Litten, come on, we're not fighting that." Litten was more than willing to agree. This thing seemed like a tough customer as well in its own right. The two tried to run for it, but the Mienfoo cut the two off. They weren't leaving without a fight...

"This...is bad..."

"Litten, use-" Before Tristen could utter any words out, the Mienfoo rushed in immediately, practically driving its palm right into Litten, smacking it rather hard and making the cat flinch rather instinctively, catching the cat with Fake Out. As the cat was reeling from the Fake Out, the Mienfoo, stomped hard and drove its fist forward, driving a Pound attack right into the cat and sending it tumbling back rather hard. "Litten!" Already this looked rather grim. The Mienfoo meant business, and he didn't know what for. Was it because of the several Pokemon he got Litten to take out? Or maybe Tristen's intimidation tactics on a couple of Pokemon? Was this thing looking for a worthy adversary? He didn't know, but whatever it was, it spelled trouble.

"Litten! Use Double Kick!" the boy shouted. The cat managed to quickly get back on its paws and rushed in, leaping forth and coming down with harsh kicks. The Mienfoo braced for impact, absorbing the force of the attack. As soon as the cat landed, the Mienfoo went low, sweeping the cat's legs right from under it with its Low Kick. The cat hit the floor once again, but as it looked up, the Mienfoo was already on the attack again, its palm glowing with a fierce energy. A Force palm.

"Litten! Look out! Move!" The cat gave no argument and scrambled aside, leaving the Mienfoo to drive its palm down right into the ground, cracking the rock and leaving a indentation about the twice the size of its own hand. Tristen was thinking fast, trying to figure out how to get the upper hand on this Mienfoo. Litten hasn't dealt with such a tough opponent before; something that he regrets in hindsight for not practicing on sooner. "Litten! Use Ember!" The cat howled out, unleashing the flurry of embers, catching the Mienfoo up in its wake. However, the Mienfoo manages to jump off to the side and dashes forward, then taking a leap towards Litten, foot out and ready to drive it into the cat.

"Litten! Duck!" The cat got low to the ground, just in time for the Mienfoo travel right over it and crash right into a boulder behind Litten, cracking it, another crazy show of this Mienfoo's strength. That said, such an action didn't come without cost. After landing, the Mienfoo started to hop on one foot a bit; apparently hurting itself after its Jump Kick attack. "That was..." A realization just hit the boy. "...reckless..." Reckless, perhaps, both by nature and ability, the boy thought. Reckless in that it had something to prove, perhaps in fact treating Litten as a worthy opponent, and reckless by ability...where attacks like Mienfoo's Jump Kick would be crushing if it connected like it had supposed to. Such a trait was rather rare in Mienfoo, according to the Pokedex stored in GRAY. Tristen suddenly thought...he had a target, now.

The question then came as to how to subdue this Mienfoo...Litten didn't have too much in the way of utility, that he can recall. Then again, considering what this thing is supposed to evolve into, it's sole purpose is to kinda grow up to be a outright brute; a luxury that he didn't have right now in that regard. He had to figure something else out. Reckless as Mienfoo was, it was calculated still...one of those acceptable risks. It was calm otherwise, taking the time to follow up its attacks; virtually a true martial artist, as far as Pokemon goes. Tristen had an idea...he had to get this Pokemon off its game...

"Litten! Swagger!" The boy called out. This was a risk, that much he knew. As the Litten taunted and berated its opponent, Mienfoo became infuriated; one could almost see a vein come out of the fighter type's head. Its rage brought its strength to unprecidented levels; at this point it could probably go toe to toe with foes considerably stronger than even it, right now. But such sudden jolt of power had a hitch to it, which was what Tristen was hoping for. Mienfoo was so blinded with rage, it instilled confusion.

"CHYYYOOO!!!" Meinfoo howled out. Litten stepped back a few steps, ever cautious and waited on the command from its trainer. The Mienfoo rushed in, straight for the cat.

"Litten, look out! Here it comes!" The Mienfoo then unleashed a flurry of punches and slaps upon the cat, courtasy of its Doubleslap attack. The Litten managed to duck and weave all it could, but the final couple of strikes to the attack managed to hit there mark. The Mienfoo managed to faint a blow, only to kick forward to make the Litten stumble, following up with what was essentially a haymaker shot with the last hit, making the Litten hit the ground, skidding a good ways away. "Litten! Are you alright!?"

The cat's world was rocked pretty hard by such an attack. Usually Doubleslap hits on their own were pretty weak. Such the gamble that was Swagger. The cat was reeling a bit, not steady on its feet. Litten wouldn't be able to take another attack like that. Or any, it seemed like, and that Mienfoo was still raring to have at it. Tristen felt he had to go for broke now. "Litten! Fury Swipes!" he called out. The Litten rushed in with its own furious move, pouncing on the Mienfoo and slashing as fast and as hard as it could in a frantic desperation attempt. The Mienfoo tosses off Litten behind him, then threw its weight up, landing back upright and back on its feet. Without even bothering to look, the Mienfoo quickly spun and Jump Kicked once again, ready to land a coup de grâce upon the Litten. Litten however was still down and hadn't managed to get back on its feet after being tossed off of him, and all the Mienfoo managed to hit was air. The Mienfoo spun nearly 720 degrees, losing its footing, stumbled and crashed into another rock, hurting itself rather badly in a rather enraged, yet another reckless, move.

Tristen had to act, otherwise, things would be even more dire for Litten than what it was right now. The boy quickly pulled out a Great Ball and gave it a hard toss towards the Mienfoo. The ball ensnared the Fighting pokemon. Frantically the ball shook and Tristen stared at it intently...

The ball shook frantically and much to the boy's dismay, the ball bursts right back open and released the Mienfoo. Litten managed to find the will to get back up again and looked on at the fighting Pokemon with a bit of dread. Worse still, the Mienfoo seemed to be back to its senses again, albeit still rather irritated. This wasn't good at all. "Oh no...Litten!" Quickly, the boy frantically searched his pack for another Great Ball, if not at the very least, Litten's Pokeball to get the fire cat recalled. Quickly, another Great Ball was pulled out, but the Mienfoo was already on the attack. The Mienfoo drove its palm right into the cat and smashed it with a Force Palm attack, putting the cat down out of the running.

"LITTEN!" The boy shouted. Quickly, once more, the boy tossed the ball to get the Mienfoo off the attack. The Mienfoo looked back, realizing what just happened the last time, but didn't get the chance to dodge, this time. Once again, the Mienfoo was ensnared in a Great Ball and once more it shook. As it frantically shook, Tristen rushed over towards Litten and scooped the cat up, holding it close to him, ready to protect him if need be.

Once more, the ball bursts open, the Mienfoo refusing to go down with a whimper in such a fashion. He couldn't believe how hardy this Mienfoo was; not even Dragonite was this stubborn. Litten couldn't fight any longer and he couldn't get any of his other Pokemon in the fight, and despite having more great balls, if he understood the rules right, he could only use one of them. As the Mienfoo got ready to attack once more, Tristen intensified his crest lights, blinding the Mienfoo. Tristen regretted such a cheap tactic, but this was all or nothing now as he once again tossed the final ball allotted.

-final great ball chance-

Tristen, much to his anguish, sees the Mienfoo burst out once again, but still was trying to restore the vision to his eyes. The boy had to hang it up now, this fight was a wash. The boy had to run for his sake and his Litten's.

Is as if fate decided to toy with the kid, or the kid's own memory one. Tristen pulled out one last ploy to get this Mienfoo ensnared in a Pokeball. A Repeat ball. He sat the Litten down then rushed back off to the Mienfoo. By the time the boy managed to get back to it, the Mienfoo was able to see once more, only to see a Repeat ball snatch it up once more.
