Dans av LavendelDesigner: x_suicide_is_inevitable_x Model: Noelle Description:Noelle may be strong willed and tough as nails in a fight, but once she steps on the dance floor, she's all grace and beauty. From the spin of a pirouette* to the arc of a grand jeté*, her every movement is fluid and made of smooth, clean lines, each one flowing into the next with confidence and a well practiced ease. Sure, she doesn't look like most of the other dancers - doesn't have the narrow hips and small chest and high cheekbones like the majority of the ballerinas, all angles and flat planes, voices soft and sweet - but she doesn't do this to fit in or please others. She dances only for herself, and knowing this gives her strength. The title means “Dance of the Lavender” in Norwegian. I originally named it “Danse de la Menthe” (French for “Dance of the Mint”) because the colors I used are mint and lavender, but it didn't quite fit with the image, and I came to the conclusion that Noelle would be more like lavender - strong and well-liked, but also possessing a calm, relaxed side - so I switched it and put it in Norwegian. (The French translation sounded too flowery for Noelle, and Norwegian sounds harsher, but I felt that it matched the look much better.) Okay, so I kept putting this off until yesterday, but then I was busy and didn't get a chance to work on it until really late. Nothing new there. I figured I'd do something with all three colors or just purple and orange and it wouldn't take too long. However, I failed to think about just how many items Gaia has and how many don't have all the proper tags. So when I finally started, I first figured out which shade I wanted to use, and began working out a theme. I then remembered why I shouldn't procrastinate - I am the most indecisive person I know and get stuck on the tiniest details. After deciding that my idea wasn't going to cut it without at least one prohibited color, I scrapped it and went back to the drawing board. I came across one of my favorite items (Melty Skate Date), and switched gears into the melty scheme. The hardest part was finding a background without black or white, but I finally did and am completely satisfied with it. I chose the frame because it gives it a fairy tale feel to the whole look, almost like she's dancing right out of a storybook. *A pirouette is when a dancer spins on one foot in a circle; a twirl. A grand jeté is when a dancer jumps across the stage from one to to the other in a large arc, one leg in front and the other stretched backward; also known as a split jump.

1. I Have Given Up (Xoco) Positive: Xoco looked great in the color! It popped against her skin. Judges appreciated the bold choice of such a vibrant and solid color. Negative: Having a look with one solid colors makes the few spots without that color stand out poorly. Don’t forget to explain your process in your descriptions! Keep in mind the guideline for descriptions that Empress Ekko was lovely enough to save in a thread.
2. Empress Ekko (Copper) Positive: Your oranges didn’t clash, and Copper really looked great! A very pleasing first submission. Negative: A little matchy, and Copper looked like she was going to a fun cocktail party and not an elegant evening.
3. DAVlD DUCHOVNY (Keran) Positive: Great description! Everyone else should take notes. Colors were great for the challenge and for Keran. Negative: It’s plain, and we wish you had pushed it further. The horns weren’t the best choice visually even if they made sense conceptually, and you forgot the model’s name. Model’s names must be included in the description.
4. x_suicide_is_inevitable_x (Noelle) Positive: Took a risk with the melty color scheme as the green borders on blue, but it paid off! Noelle is a proper ballerina on her stage. Negative: The legs blend into the background a bit too much, don’t forget the focus should always be on the model.
5. rnadotsuki (Iona) Positive: You used colors that met the challenge, kudos! Negative: These colors are not Iona’s! Iona needed purples, or dark rich greens. It’s just a cute look. Cute doesn’t wow.
6. khionna (Veronica) Positive: Toxic and dark purple go great together and it had the judges drooling over your look. From the bowler hat to the mismatched leggings, it was great. Negative: There’s more black than we wanted, and compared to everything else, her face it just a bare void. We wanted glasses, goggles, something.
7. Your Local Gay (Daphne) Positive: Daphne looks amazing in these colors. Negative: Daphne looks heavy, and there’s just too much going on. Think of Coco Chanel, and when you’re looking at your submission, err towards taking one thing off rather than putting one thing on.
8. Pixelplays (Ebony) Positive: Holy long description Batman! It was wonderful to see someone writing out all their thoughts and to see the effort put into this as a result. Negative: Every judge prefers the look with the background you didn’t choose, and that hurt your score. If you don’t show us what could have been, it can’t hurt you. It especially hurt when you admitted this background didn’t look good. No background is better than a background you know isn’t good.
9. Princess of the Raindrops (Mia) Positive: Mia is cute. Negative: It isn’t a good color for Mia, and it’s just...lacking. There’s nothing that made it stand out to anyone, and you want to make a memorable look. Good or bad, memorable is better than indifferent.
10. Tink_Bel (Zahara) Positive: You know how to do nature designs, and your looking into colors paid off, because the judges were living for this look. Everything about it honestly. Negative: The headpiece was a little off, and we’d have liked to see sage some place other than just around her shoulders.
11. METTAT0N (Trinity) Positive: Trinity is adorable, and we loved the glasses. The dynamic pose was also great. Negative: The background wasn’t the right choice - no background would have been better - and your description needs work. Be sure to check out this handy guide to a good description.
12. Destined Savior (Brooke) Positive: In any other challenge this look could have very well been closer to the top scores. Brooke looks lovely, and the colors match her well and bring out her eyes, she’s a good witch. Negative: The colors for this challenge were orange, green, and purple. Not blue. Now maybe on your screen the blues looked more purple? But all the judges really saw were blue and black, and it killed it for us. We also want to hear your thoughts in your descriptions, not just what the outfit portrays.
13. RENstrawberry (Madison) Positive: You chose a big hat and managed to avoid Madison looking like a funko pop about to topple over, great job! Description was also solid. Negative: The darkness at the right of the image - a tree? - was not great. The forehead jewelry was also a negative for more judges.
14. Kiwi Cannoli (Kate) Positive: Green is always a good choice on red heads, and the background was a strong decision! Description was good too. Negative: A richer green would have been better than this shamrock, and the scarf left the judges in disagreement if it worked or not.
15. botticellus venus (Dita) Positive: This is a gorgeous color scheme, and Dita looks absolutely great in it. The description was a good start, we look forward to what you have to offer in future challenges. Negative: These colors bordered on being wrong for the challenge. The card and arm mod looked like a tasty snack rather and a fate to be examined, and it really didn’t look that tasty.

Just A "Tea" PartyDesigner: RENstrawberry Model: Madison Description: The time had come. The bells sung out nine o’ clock, and Madison cautiously made her way to the door. She’d done it. Silently escaping into the night in hopes for– “Honey!?” Madison stumbled as she was called out to, her hand frozen on the glass doorknob before her. “Where are you off to at this hour?” her lover cried out. She gathered herself, “o-Oh, to Marie’s my dear!” “For another party I suppose?” The tone of those words reeked with evocation of her previous habits. “Why, yes. But do not fret darling, this…” she looked to her lover with a monarch’s gaze, “ is just a tea party.” She escaped into the cool embrace of the evening. This night, she would dance to the rhythm of a beautiful intoxication. Her most trusted companions at her side, as she slipped into a moment of childlike bliss. ~~~ This challenge proved exceptionally difficult for me. I wasn’t sure which of the two concepts I came up with to follow through with. The first idea was a modern rendition of a cocktail dress and the other was a rococo esque throwback. I thought both styles had very effeminate yet feminist qualities and decided the two amplified one another when merged in this context. I started off by adding poses for Madison’s arms and legs to give off the impression of her dancing. Her arms came draped with a scarf, which inspired the idea for the dress color. I settled that a cool toned pastel hue would complement the warmth of her flesh and allow her darker features to stand out. I chose a dress that ended at her knees and covered a great deal of her chest. To evoke her feminine qualities, and bring a little sexiness to the look, I opted for a top that would keep in mind the modern appeal of a cocktail dress. Next, Madison’s earrings and headdress were added to tie in the playful, extravagant, and very “extra” ornamentation key to the rococo. Then, I decided adding on the sheer lace to the bottom of the dress was necessary to uphold the form and fashion of a rococo ‘cocktail dress’, yet maintain a sensual appeal to… more modern delights. As a finishing touch, I decided to add a "tea" table. Ornate furniture, such as this piece, were essential to defining the era of the rococo.

The Champagne BallDesigner: METTAT0N Model: Trinity Description: ... I wasn't actually sure how to define a "cocktail dress" and had to google it. That didn't give me very many answers so I just tried to uh.. floor it. Trinity has such a sweet look to her, so I didn't really want to go too sexy with her look, and ended up with something princess-like in nature. Her dress is a bit longer than I had initially planned on, but I personally like it. The more I thought about it, the more I had the image of a young princess attending a royal party, and I hope that doesn't stray too far from the concept of a cocktail mixer. Her nose is a little red, since she's already had a little bit of her wine while she waits for her girlfriends, or "honored guests" in more royal terms. I'm not sure how, but I ended up staying with the same colorscheme throughout the process, that being Catharsis. The colorscheme actually comes up pretty fast under a search for "champagne", and it gives me feelings of elegance. It's easy to make it look extravagant, which was another part of the "royalty" motivations. I know I was faulted for my background in the last challenge, but it was really difficult for me to say "no background" to this one. The chandeliers from the Antique Vault item were one of the biggest motivators of this design, and putting a floor beneath her chaise lounge made the scene feel more complete. While I tried more conservative backgrounds in other pieces, my mind kept coming back to this avatar and I've decided to stand by my initial instincts.

"Girl, you'll never guess who just walked in."Designer: khionna Model: Veronica Description:Finally, a night out with the girls! .. but what is SHE doing here? Veronica is all dressed up for a high class girls night out. She picked out the perfect dress, found the perfect hat, and is already face deep into her 2nd drink when she sees her. Now everyone wants to know who, what is going on, and why this girl is now the talk of the night. Who better than Veronica to fill them in on all of the juicy details! Initially, I was unsure how to go about this task. Should she go out to the club? Or maybe to the bar with the girls to wind down? Personally, Veronica seems to have a little more class than that. I pondered over a few ideas but ultimately wanted to dress her up so that she could enjoy a ritzy night out with friends and cocktails. I went to google to research cocktail dress designs. There were so many! Short, long, the possibilities were amazing. I knew that I wanted to do a short dress, so I looked into those designs. I took inspiration from a few different ones and I feel like it turned out well. From the start I knew that I wanted a color that would pop while still complimenting Veronica's complexion. I love layering various smaller pieces to make them look like one solid piece, so that was my goal with her dress. I went with a full background last time, so I thought I would go with something a little more simple for this round. After getting a basic design down I decided to enlist mentor help to polish out a few things. I think my entry does very well to convey what I was going for over all. Veronica looks sophisticated yet fun. She looks just the right amount of catty. I love the way all of the pieces layered together cohesively. I have a good color flow without using a gaia made color sheme. I used the bokeh background to resemble lighting, so that it wasn't bare but wasn't too overpowering either. I feel that the warm soft tones of the Antique Vault work well to compliment the tones of Veronic's skin and hair while not distracting from her outfit design. Over all, I feel that I have a solid cocktail dress design. The posing gives Veronica just enough personality to show that she knows how to have fun but is still the classy lady that I imagine her to be. I am happy with my entry.

Among the Whispering and the Champagne and StarsDesigner: Botticellis Venus Model: Daphne Description: It was past midnight and the party was still going strong. Normally, she would never have come, but her friend had pleaded with her and made promises of it being the last time, promises that she would probably never keep. It was too much though; too many people, too many eyes on her as she tried to blend into the crowd. As soon as she could, she slipped away in search of some quiet and fresh air. I honestly thought this was going to be an easy task. I love cocktails and occasionally I like parties and I love to dress up once in a while so this should be no hard task. It took me four days to finally figure it out. I decided to go with this look because Daphne is a very pale woman, from her skin to her hair and I feel like even though this is mostly a white ensemble, it goes well with her features and skin tone. I didn't want to put any super harsh colors on her, nor anything too dark. I kept getting lost in the pastel sections and made a few different looks, none of which really interested me. They were all very light colored with short skirts and just kinda playful. However, I ran across a light green, navy blue, and gold color scheme and I thought it worked really well on her. I then realized that the length of her hair made all of the short skirts look weird, so I went with a longer more formal dress. After messing around with layering skirts and dresses, I found this combination that really appealed to me. I started this look with the skirt because I've seen it before and always wanted to use it and it seemed like the perfect opportunity. I like that the skirt is kinda see through so it softens the colors. Its not a pure white, just like her hair isn't a pure white. I added the flowers to her hair to balance out the hard lines of the flowers on the skirt and also to add a little color to her head. I knew I wanted her away from a crowd and enjoying a moment's peace. I really like the balcony scene from a different item but there were a few issues with it. So I tried out the balcony frame and a night sky to give a reference to where she is at the party and to make the story more cohesive and it worked for me. I didn't want anything super busy so that she could stand out against it. I am a little worried this might not be "cocktail party" enough, but like I said above, short skirts just looked odd to me. This is a more formal cocktail party for sure. The title is from The Great Gatsby, the ultimate cocktail party. I feel like this is very reflective of how I am at a party. I am very introverted so after a few minutes, I will wander off with my drink and explore a little. I guess that is why I was drawn to the idea of her wandering off and getting some fresh air. I wanted to leave it up to the viewer though to decide what her next step would be. Would she head out into the garden or go back into the party?

A Toast!Designer: Kiwi Cannoli Model: Brooke Description: Oh, you want me to give it? Well,um, alright...I want to thank everyone for coming tonight, and um...lets see...wow, a lot of people did show up tonight, didn't they?I'm not gonna lie this was kinda hard for me. I don't know anything about cocktail party's so I had to google almost everything. Honestly, I think I was just overthinking everything as well. I found the arm pose right away and knew what kinda story I wanted to give her. After that I had to find a dress that would be in theme and would look good on Brooke. I played around with Black, Red, Light Blue and Yellow/Gold schemes before I decided on Sapphire. And then I realized that there is only a handful of sapphire items and not all of them matched each other. After I layered a dress together (It took two days, I went thru every sapphire item just to find the right combo) I had to find the right shoes. I ended up going for these because to me they look like shes shuffling her feet trying to find the right thing to say. One last thing, At first I had wanted to go background-less, but I changed my mind after I found the one equipped. With the gold, and blue, I really think it ties the entire thing together.

let's have a kikiDesigner: Your Local Gay Model: Dita "A kiki is a party For calming all your nerves We're spilling tea and dishing just desserts one may deserve And though the sun is rising Few may choose to leave So shade that lid And we'll all bid Adieu to your ennui"Description:For this challenge, i went through quite a few ideas, eventually throwing them all out. This challenge in particular was surprisingly difficult, i‘m not quite sure what made it so, yet. Eventually i settled on the Kiki concept. Initially i didn't want Dita to be so colorful, mostly black or dark brown, with some swampy here and there to match her eyes but nothing seemed to fit the way it should. i moved on to a few different colors but it became this weird game of color jigsaw where every item i chose either looked bad with the other items or didn’t quite match to the point where it was irksome. Eventually, i tried out an anubis item despite the fact that it was lot brighter than i anticipated but i liked it nevertheless. I started the outfit from scratch for what i hoped was the last time and used anubis as the focal point. I decided to have her sitting down because that seemed to fit the little “scene”, if you will, i had in my head; of a couple of Dita's friends, in their finest clothes, with their highest heels, and the most expensive alcohol they could afford. All gossiping (or spilling tea if you will) or dancing to music. For, its their bi-monthly kiki! It’s later in the night and the girls are more than a little drunk, so the heels came off. I tried my best to take the advice i got from the last challenge to heart. I think i did okay at it. The only thing i think may clutter the frame a bit are the little speech bubbles. But i kept them in because the area around her head seemed too still. I like to create things that have motion, like little snapshots of people doing things, much a like a candid photograph. To me the empty space seemed flat and boring. I played around with a couple of 'actual' speech bubbles and some sparkles and the like, but nothing seemed to really work. Then i stumbled across Honorary Ghost and thought it worked well enough. Idk, just the contrast between the bottles around her and the movement of her arms, having nothing seemed weird. The way i see it, the eye is first drawn to the bottles around her and then up the figure, without the bubbles it stops there. In theory that is fine, but that does not portray the the party in a way that i liked. She surrounded by people under the influence, they’re not very quiet lol. They’re either adding input / commentary, or emoting vocally in some way. Hmm, i think that’s it from me! Sorry about the more length description.

Black & White PartyDesigner: Empress Ekko Model: Mia Description: It was Mia's first time out after turning 21, and her friends decided to take her to a "Black and White" themed cocktail night at one of the most popular drinking destinations. She spent the days before shopping with her friends to find the perfect outfit to suit her - innocent enough with just a hint of sexiness. The cocktail party was so much fun for her! It wasn't long until she felt the fuzziness of inebriation cloud her mind. Mia counted the drinks in her head, "One.. two.. three.. and this is four..." She gasped and swayed ever so slightly, making her long blonde hair shift gently from side to side as her drink splashed around in her glass, almost spilling over the rim. "Eep! I think I may... maybe a liiittle tipsy!" This challenge was really fun for me! I went far from what I had originally planned for this one. I had initially wanted to create Mia being pretty sexy and sultry; out for a night with the girls for the first time in a long time after getting out of a controlling and mentally abusive relationship. As I kept trying to make that work, it just wasn't happening. Mia looks way too innocent and sweet, so I decided that I wanted it to be her first time out drinking instead. With that in mind, I thought a Black & White party would be a great thing for her to go to - a safe environment for a first time drinker while still being able to dress up and have lots of fun! I didn't want to make it too incredibly elegant, after all, how many 21-year-olds do you know who dress up super fancy? This challenge was almost a bit difficult, since the outfit I made for Copper last time could've been great for this one as well. Part of me really wanted to use the "brunch bubblies" pose that I used with the last challenge, but I don't like being repetitive, so I found this different arm pose. After seeing how it made her look all "oopsie," I knew what kind of story I wanted for her. Overall, I really like how this turned out! It's modern, fits the cocktail theme, as well as the well-known idea of a Black & White cocktail party.

A Little StrongDesigner: DAVID DUCHOVNY Model: Keran "Would this tame me?" Keran thought, "or would it just make things worse?." She never never fit in at cocktail parties, especially ones that were so fancy. She didnt understand the secret invitation that had been slipped under her door and was a bit uneasy. She always stayed around to same group of friends so she was sure they would be there too but was up for some mystery so she dusted off the last of her feminine clothing and headed off to the cocktail party. she was nervous to how people would react, she had always come on strong, and boy did this drink come on strong , too.BOY WAS THIS A CHALLENGE. I have never been to any party at all besides a birthday party. And I'm 2 months sober ( yay me!) so alcohol stuff is hard for me lol. Moving on. Its hard to find mods that are supposed to match skin tone D. theyare usually very off so I tried to find one giving a toast that would closely match. Keran's expression is not exactly a happy one so I tried to fit her skirt with its slight train in an almost slightly inching-away fashion. For the head I wanted an antique gold piece but found that Keran's hair was enough, and it just needed to be adorned with the right pieces. I added a flower piece as a sort of homage to forget-me-nots, as I find that Keran has an unforgettable outfit and looks.I and a pocketwatch as it is something that still holds on the butch factor I set up for Keran in the first challenge. I want to tell a story with the model I currently have.

Girl's Night Outdesigner: POTR Model: Noelle Description: Noelle and her fellow models are in desperate need of a girl's night, a night to relax from work and just have fun, not saying their job isn't already. The girls get dolled up and head out to the hottest restaurant and bar, one with a clientele of the highest ranking models, actresses and actors. Upon entry, the girls are handed menus and a small chocolate rose, lead to a table right against the stage, a jazz band playing catchy tunes. "This is going to be one great girl's night." Noelle says, sitting with her friends. As soon as I saw the challenge I knew I would come up with a million ideas. Noelle has a look to her that gives me a mature and sexy vibe, making it very easy to work in a style that utilized her slicked hair and purple lipstick. I went with a purple skirt and top paired with stockings and heels, a single black stripe to give a little pop on her pale legs. The stole was a touch I felt was necessary, as Noelle has a more mature side, I felt she was a little "extra" in her style choices. And who ever said sunglasses at night were a silly idea? These shades give her a day to night look, perhaps she was shopping before going out to dinner, or perhaps she simply likes the look.

Sweet StartiniDesigner: x_suicide_is_inevitable_x Model: Ebony Description:They'd started the evening with a round of drinks at a high end lounge in the city, mingling with the other socialites there, and ended up being invited to someone's - whose was it again? - yacht for a nighttime sail around they bay. It wasn't a large ship, but its bars were fully stocked, and the hours had gone by quickly, filled with laughter and gossip and plenty of flirting. After what must have been drink number... seven - ten, maybe? She'd lost count by the time they moved to the card tables - Ebony excused herself for a bit of fresh air, taking the chance to head onto the deck and walk toward the bow so she could see the view. As she made her way forward, she realized with a small start that the sun was beginning to come up. She looked out over the water and watched as the lingering clouds glowed along their edges from the lightening rays, casting the sky above in shades of tangerine and peach, the stars so far beyond still sparkling brightly through it all. It was breathtaking.I started this challenge with the idea that a "cocktail dress" was, generally, a short dress worn for clubbing or barhopping (or something of the sort - I don't drink and have almost no experience with bars), but when I Googled it, there were very few short dresses like what I had in mind, and it was defined as "appropriate for semi-formal to formal occasions". The only drinks I could think of for "formal occasions" were wine and champagne, neither of which are cocktails, so, I started from base zero, keeping in mind not to get to close to using a ballgown, since that seemed a little over the top for a night of drinking, even for a high society soiree. I also thought it would be easy to find an armmod holding a glass, but very few looked right, and most of the armmods I tried removed something, so when I came across this one, I was relieved I wouldn't have to start over again. I remembered reading an article about cocktail attire, and that accessories should be kept to as few as possible in order to bring attention to them, so I found a necklace and a set of earrings that worked with the hair and voilà, the outfit was complete! Then, all I (possibly) needed was a background, and I sorted through the ones I knew already to find this, and a story started forming in my head. I tried to tie in the title with the image and theme, and chose not to go with "purple ghost martini" - a Halloween drink - because, despite using Gaia's ghastly color scheme, it didn't fit the mood of the image at all, and "startini" sounds so much nicer. (I tried posting this before midnight, but it wouldn't let me for some reason. Had to log out then log back in.) Edit: I'm only adding that yes, I fully understand if I'm eliminated because of the post time.

A Moment's RestDesigner: Pixelplays Model: Kate Description:It was late, late, late, the party stretching deep into the night. At this rate the drinks and dancing would last until the morning light. She pushed her way to the doors, she needed to take a breath. It would only be a second, she just wanted a moment's rest.Sorry! Sorrysorrysorry, this week was real busy- dentist, checkup, haircut, grandpa's birthday- between it all I had barely any time to work on this. I swear I didn't forget ;; Like the surprisingly large amount of people who don't know what a cocktail dress looks like, I too had to look up 'cocktail dress'. What I made is kinda more dressy than the source material, but whatever. It looks good! One of the problems I had again was background choice, though this time it was more a decision of background vs no background. The outfit itself is a little plain and I felt like having no background just served to further pronounce that. I've always heard 'don't put red on a redhead' but I kinda always do it anyway?I think it came out good. I still hate the damn avi builder, this time i couldn't even press 'undo' because whenever I did it just deleted the whole outfit. What's next? Not even letting me put clothes on? God why are you so useless. Why did I write a poem? I don't know, but it took 3 hours for no reason. It originally had four lines, but the last two sucked a lot so I just deleted them. Maybe if I still have time I'll rewrite them, but eh.

Typical Friday NightDesigner: Tink_Bel Model: Zahara Description: It's a typical Friday night for Zahara out on the town. She's feeling a bit flirty in her short dress and favorite heels. She's also feeling a little drunk after a glass of wine and tries to cover up a little burp. The night's still young and she's ready to see where it takes her. I dressed Zahara in the catharsis theme as it perfectly complements her skin tone and hair color. And can we just appreciate how well this dress fits with this leg mod?! It looks like she's popping out her hip to show off a little leg wink I want to thank the judges for the extension, I had a lot of fun in Mexico but not a lot of internet access! And with that, I'm about to be just like Zahara and enjoy a night downtown with a girl friend and a few drinks emotion_yatta
