The door would open and this time Terashi would be greeted by a much younger individual; a young elementary school age girl with pigtails. "Hi mister!" The young girl said, all bright eyed and cheery. "Teacher is busy right now but he said to let you in! Follow me!" She said, running through the lobby and down a long hallway until she stopped at a specific door, disappearing behind it.
Terashi and Keiko would find on the other side of the door a room full of children sitting at desks, listening to their teacher, a young man sporting a tie like Terashi, giving a lecture on Pokemon types and how they match up to others. The lecture wouldn't last much longer and before long the bell would ring, causing the kids to cheer and rush out of the room.
Once the students were gone the teacher would approach Terashi and Keiko, loosening up his tie a bit before offering a handshake to both of them. "Hello, my name is Cheren. What can I do for you today?"

After shaking his hand, I rubbed the back of my head a bit, a little nervous about what I was seeing. Was this meant to be the official first gym of the region? "Well, I came to challenge you for your badge, but I don't want to bother you if you're busy," I said, trying to be calm about it.
"I'm following Terashi to watch his battles in the Gym circuit," Keiko explained, having no intention to battle Cheren herself. "It's nice to meet you, though."

"Oh! A battle, of course. Some times I get so wrapped up in my teaching job I assume when a couple comes to me it's about enrolling their kid or being displeased with their grades." Cheren said with a nervous laugh. He had mistaken Terashi and Keiko for parents, that should get a reaction. "Right his way, please." He instructed them as he guided them back into the hallway and out the far back door leading to the playground slash battlefield.
Upon seeing their teacher arrive the playing children knew to clear out the marked dirt battlefield, the children going to place elsewhere but most of them started to gather up along the sidelines to watch the battle, excited whispers and shouts about how their teacher is going to destroy his opponent and such. Kids.

Keiko started blushing and looked away when Cheren explained his assumptions. I could only chuckle, though I was grateful that Cheren at least didn't discriminate against hybrids, or didn't seem to, anyway.
I ignored Keiko's blushing and the student's talking (of course their bets are on their teacher) and let Haku out. The powerful Komm-o roared as he was let out, and stared at Cheren intensely, daring the shorter trainer to let out a Pokemon.

The children would 'ooo' and 'aaa' over the strange looking Pokemon, even Cheren was a little taken back by the exotic creature. "That children is a Kommo-o, a Pokemon native to the far off Alola region. Watch carefully, I may quiz you all one what its type is." Cheren said with a laugh before tossing a Pokeball onto the field.
The device would pop open to release into the air a male Unfezant, the Proud Pokemon fluttering in place as it awaited its order.
"Three Pokemon each, may the best trainer win." Cheren said. "Unfezant, Feather Dance!" The gym leader order.
With a chirp the bird would fly over and above the Kommo-o, flapping its wings erratically as it sent loose feathers fueled with strange energy down upon the dragon. As they feathers made contact Haku would feel its physical strength weaken, its Attack stat falling harshly.

I was a bit surprised when Cheren let an Unfezant out, but it was technically a Normal-type Pokemon. A wise strategy for dealing with Pokemon with a similar weakness. Haku's second-type wouldn't help against this enemy in particular.
"Kids, you might want to cover your ears, or this is going to hurt. Sorry, Keiko. Use Screech, Haku."
I plugged my ears with my fingers as Haku screeched, using Normal-type energy along with the sound to negatively affect the Unfezant dancing around him, drastically dropping his defense. This was to show Cheren that I wasn't about to play around with stat changes. I was going to try to keep Haku on at least something of a level playing field, type weaknesses and resistances aside. Keiko had to hold her ears shut, but it didn't help much with her enhanced sense of hearing.

The bird would wince as the dragon screeched, the horrible noise causing its defense to drop harshly just as the dragon's own attack did earlier. Once it was over Cheren and his students would remove their hands from their ears.
"I see you like to keep the playing field even." Cheren said with a smile. "Though there is always room for surprises. You see, Unfezant is lucky. Use Air Cutter!" The gym leader commanded.
With a shrill cry the bird would begin to flap its wings vigorously, conjuring up a gust of wind empowered with Flying energy. The gale was no ordinary breeze as it threatened to cut up and slice its victim, that being Haku.
[Super Luck + Air Cutter = 50% for critical hit. If 1, it's critical.]

"Alright, Haku, let's start pushing back. Use Clanging Scales," I ordered, smiling calmly at Unfezant and Cheren.
Haku took the Air Cutter, which was thankfully not a critical hit, and began shaking his body, causing his scales to strike each other. The scales would emit Dragon-type energy as they vibrated, the air in the battlefield becoming saturated with energy that targeted Unfezant.

The terribly powerful sound based attack would shake Unfezant tremendously, the bird having to land as it could no longer maintain flight while suffering from that awful noise, even barely managing to land safely. Once the attack had ended the Proud Pokemon was looking worse for wear, that powerful attack hitting pretty hard, that said the Pokemon and gym leader pair both noticed that the attack came with a drawback as Haku was missing some scales, its Defense dropped.
"Unfezant, fight back with Aerial Ace!" The gym leader commanded.
The bird would let out a shrill cry before it kicked off the ground and darted towards Haku, aiming to deliver a quick jab of the beak at its feet to try and trip it up. The Proud Pokemon would then fly past and come back around to slash at its back with its talons, keeping its momentum as it continued on by, soaring up into the air before flipping back over and descending upon the dragon with one final hit in the form of Flying energy empowered wings, hoping to strike at a vulnerable point.
(If 1, critical.)

"Can you PLEASE cut it out with the sound moves!? I'm gonna go deaf here in a minute!" Keiko screamed after Haku's move was done. I turned to apologize to Keiko, but was interrupted when I heard Haku roaring in pain. Aerial Ace struck him in a spot where he had lost his scales. "Haku, can you keep going?" I yelled, hoping he wasn't done yet. After a moment of cringing form the pain, he looked up at me and nodded. "Alright, no more holding back. Give Unfezant a taste of your Draco Meteor!" I ordered loudly. Haku roared again, gathering Dragon-type energy into an orb around him. When he had enough energy to to form a meteor made of energy, he flung it at Unfezant, looking to crush the Flying-type underneath.

"Looks like our luck ran out." Cheren mused cheerfully as the Draco Meteor descended upon his Pokemon, the mass of Dragon energy exploding violently upon impact, dispatching the Unfezant as it fell to the ground knocked out cold. All the young stupids however were taken back by the showy display of power, so much so they had forgotten about their teacher for a moment. "Well this is a little disheartening, my students seem to have fallen for your theatrics. I guess simple boring technical skill isn't as entertaining." Cheren laughed as he recalled his bird. "Oh well, I'm a gym leader first and teacher second, but I still got a lot left to teach my challenger." With that said he tossed out another Pokeball, this one popping open to reveal a smaller Pokemon. "Cinccino!" Squealed softly the Scarf Pokemon as it appeared. "Use Tail Slap." The teacher ordered. With another squeal the Normal type scurried towards the dragon with such speed and maneuverability that it was almost impossible to predict where it would come at it from. Before Pokemon or trainer knew it the Cincinno was clinging to the dragon's chest and beating its face with surprisingly powerful and insanely quick slaps of its tail, the furry appendage glowing with Normal energy, giving it density one would not expect.

"There's nothing wrong with learning about dramatics and theatre. There are many techniques developed by humans over the time we've spent on this earth that are worth learning. Though, I guess this IS a school for Trainers. Sometimes in a battle, it's important to know when to go all out to secure victory," I explained. It had been a while since I had been in an environment like this, myself. Haku roared in what I thought was agreement, until I realized that the enemy had already made its move. Once Cinccino was done attacking, I recalled Haku to his ball. "You've taken enough damage, on top of losing scales. I think you've had enough battle for now, Haku," I said to him through his ball. I re-attached his ball to my belt, but before I could reach for Angeal's Samurai let himself out of his ball and chanted his name to the crowd a couple times. "You're all fired up for a battle, huh buddy?" I asked Samurai eagerly, who happily replied in Pokespeak. "Right. This is the Oshawott I took with me to battle the Striation City Gym Leaders. The Oshawott that evolved and single-handedly finished that fight for me. This Dewott's name is Samurai, if you didn't hear it before now. Samurai, get down there and focus your energy. We're not underestimating this enemy in the slightest!" I said, playing up the theatrics Cheren accused me of. Samurai happily shouted in Pokespeak and leaped down to the battlefield to meet Cinccino. Once he was at eye level with Cinccino, he closed his eyes and focused, imbuing his body with Normal-type energy what would increase the chance of critical hits landing.

TerashiLeonGoken Cheren would smile as the Dewott, the gym leader and teacher looking upon it fondly. "A good friend of mine picked Oshawott when the three of us started our journey. The three of us and our Pokemon made a lot of good memories together." The man reminisced to Terashi before turning his attention back to the battle at hand. "Cincinno, keep it on its feet, use Bullet Seed!" He ordered the Normal type. After inhaling deep the Scarf Pokemon would fire off a rapid consecutive assault of 'seeds' made from Grass energy at the Water type. The amount of seeds in the attack was numerous, the Pokemon drawing upon its Skill Link ability to make the attack as powerful as possible.

"Oshawott can be a good ally," I agreed with Cheren before hearing the Gym Leader order up a healthy serving of Bullet Seed - well, maybe not so healthy for a Dewott. "Samurai, wash those seeds away with Surf," I ordered. Samurai happily obeyed, summoning a wave of water and using Water-type energy to control it, riding over the Bullet Seeds and up to Cinccino, looking to mow the cleanliness Pokemon down with the move.

Cincinno would be swept up in the Surf, its seeds going along for the ride as well. The Scarf Pokemon looked to be panicking over being wet, probably mourning over its perfect coat. Cheren on the other hand was as calm as ever, loosening his tie just a bit more before giving off his next command. "Always be prepared for changing circumstances and be willing to adapt. Use Thunder." The gym leader ordered. The Normal type would proceed to unleash a massive bolt of electricity through the water, hoping that its proximity to Dewott would fry the little wet head.
