The crying seemed to fall in decibels but the baby girl still fussed.
Ravnos stopped his pacing to look hopefully thoughtful. He knew what he needed to survive so it only made sense that baby vampires needed someone or something to feed off of. Should they have gotten a nursemaid who could serve as a blood bag for the pair until they were old enough
The thought had never crossed his mind until right this moment. Of course they would need to figure this out. It was a rather important one and a little late to the game he was. “Um. Logic would have me think Vampire babies need to feed off of mortal babies but that can’t be right. We should probably find them a blood bag?”

Oh. Oh, so Ravnos actually did not know. Grendel had always assumed that the Disciple had it all figured out, and when it turned out that he actually didn't, he was left feeling...
Faintly amused, actually. It was not the ideal situation to be caught in, of course, but it somehow made Grendel feel a little bit better about not knowing anything.
His lips quirked up in a half-cocked grin. "So you think I should just...summon a mortal and hypnotize them into feeding our children blood whenever they are hungry?"
He waited for a few beats before saying. "Do they even have teeth?"
Honestly, it had never even occurred to him to check.

Ravnos blinked.
Teeth
“We’ll that’s simple we just make a little cut here and there until they get teeth. If they don’t already have some that is.” He lifted his daughter up to try and get a better look at her mouth while she was still fussing quite a bit.
“I mean what harm could it do we just keep her in the pantry and you wipe her mind.” He was joking about the pantry part.
Turning his head as he looked, the Disciple let out a small sigh. “Oh good. Teeth.” That was a relief. Unlike mortal babies vampire babies were born with teeth “ Neither of them had known that and well that was ok. Ravnos wasn’t going to panic just yet.

The God found himself having to hold back laughter at the image of a mortal being shoved into the pantry whenever it was not being used to feed their children, though by the time Ravnos began checking their daughter for teeth he couldn't help himself anymore, his laughter spilling out, vibrating his chest and shaking his shoulders.
"Okay, fine. A blood bag...nurse-maid?" Is that what they were going to call it? He finally said, clearing his throat and giving Ravnos another highly amused look.
At least the momentary tension from before was gone, and the mood once again lightened.
He stood carefully from the chair, two hands holding the baby against his chest while he did so though he let one hand drop down, held out straight in front of him while he concentrated.
Out of thin air, a mortal woman popped into existence. Just a regular kat, who very quickly had a panicked expression on her face. Grendel had no idea who she was, where she was from, or if she had any family, but nor did he really care. She appeared in front of his outstretched hand and he placed it on her forehead, wiping her mind clean and filling it with the new notion of what she now was, giving her a new purpose.
Her eyes appeared blank, a small smile on her lips, and Grendel turned her towards Ravnos.
"There. A birthday gift to our children." The God said.
Hopefully this would work.

Either way seemed fine to him he just didn’t want to deal with the occasional dead baby.
Laughter. It was Grendel’s laughter and at least he was glad to see that the air had been cleared from its previous mood. The Disciple much preferring it this way. Light hearted. The dark parts seemed to pop their heads up every now and again. But yes a welcome sound and he faked stoicism
But he was surprised when the completely random woman appeared. And one two three she was a willing participate. If only he could scramble people’s brains like that he’s have no problems.
Ravnos hesitated for only a minute when Vadoma’s fussing brough him back into the moment. Glancing at Grendel. Just a little unsure of himself.

Grendel just stared back at Ravnos. Hadn't this been his idea? Why was he giving him that unsure look? It seemed so out of place on the Disciple's face, and the God lifted an eyebrow, giving him a sidelong glance.
"It is fine. She believes this is her purpose now." He said, pushing the woman forward towards Ravnos and the extra fussy Vadoma. "She will not fight it."
Taking one long claw he ran it along the edge of the woman's neck, stopping when he felt her strong pulse.
"There." He tapped, "And iff she will not latch on perhaps you can show her how."

When was the last time he had fed? For a moment he couldn’t quite remember. When Grendel touched her neck with a claw he could smell it in the air. When was the last time he had fed from Grendel? One? Two days ago? Gods blood abs mortal blood were different significantly so.
For a split second the idea of showing his infant daughter how to latch felt a bit odd. Was that how it was done? He knew he didn’t know and Grendel probably didn’t know either. So he hopes instinct would drive the baby to feed.
But he was most reluctant about handing his child over to a complete stranferS obviously he had not thought this out well enough. But eventually he handed Vadoma over to the woman who place the bundle at her check would which thankfully she latched on. So Ravnos took a step back.

Unfortunately, Grendel was about as knowledgeable about all of this as Ravnos seemed to be, but he did know that what they were attempting to do would be safe and that the Disciple should not worry.
He just hoped that it would work, because if it didn't he was going to have to call Lilith.
Nobody wanted that right now.
He could tell Ravnos was uncomfortable with all of this, and he might have had some more reassuring words to give, but Kieran had begun to squirm around some more and the God decided it would be better at this point to use two hands to hold him, and he moved away to pace the room, allowing Ravnos the time to get Vadoma fed (hopefully).
The next time he glanced over, everything seemed to be going well, so he grinned, and made his way back over, this time coming to stand next to Ravnos. Leaning over, he gave him a quick kiss on the corner of his mouth.
"See? Everything will be fine. We will figure it all out." He said as he pulled away.

The kiss brought him back and he turned his head to look at Grendel. His hands felt empty as he stood there. And so he played with his ring smiling at the tenderness he showed him. Even when he himself was a bundle of nerves.
It didn’t take long for Vadoma to finish. Small bellies. And soon the woman was holding her out to which Ravnos swooped in and took her back. Checking Vadoma over but she seemed content. Small eyes closed as she yawned, staring half lidded at hee brother who had also begun fussing. Her full attention on him as she was tucked into the crook of his arm.
“His turn now.” Surely the boy would be just as hungry as his sister was by no2”w.

It suddenly occurred to Grendel that he had been holding the boy for quite some time now. Pretty much since the moment he had been wrapped up in his blanket and handed over by Ravnos. It did not bother him in the slightest that he'd held him for so long, finding the childe to be quite a lot easier to want to be around than the God was expecting.
He was so far a very quiet baby, even when fussing. Grendel hoped it was a trend that would continue.
When it was Kieran's turn Grendel also felt a little odd about handing him over, but as the little girl was okay he knew that it was the right thing to do. He held out the little bundle to the new nursemaid and she did the same with him as she had done with Vadoma, holding him up to her neck where he latched on hungrily.
Grendel let out a little breath that he had apparently been holding, and looked back over to Ravnos, and to their other small childe. Reaching over, he ran a finger along her cheek and smiled again when she yawned.
Yes. He thought they were deifinitely going to be okay.

It had been Ravnos’s turn to feel like an anxious bundeL of nerves. Even with Vadoma safely back in his arms those green eyes were locked on Kieran as he too fed. He was relieved though that they had worked through this and figured something out. Maybe it wasn’t the conventional way of doing it but dammit it worked for now.
He glanced over at Grendel just to reassure himself that he was ok too. And so far he seemed alright. Good good.
“I suppose I will have to make up one of the rooms for her while she staysbhere.” That would keep his mind off things for a time. They’d have to drag her around if they took the babies anywhere. Or perhaps he could come up with an easier way of going about it. His mind ticked away at some solutions he thought would do.

"Hmmm, yes, I suppose that would be better than 'shoving her in a pantry'." The God replied, still staring down at little Vadoma even while Ravnos kept an eye on Kieran. Though they were small, it was nice to already be able to see the mix of physical traits from both parents that the babies possessed. A little mix of both of them. Grendel moved his hand away from Vadoma's face to slide his arm around Ravnos instead, and turned his attention back to Kieran, waiting for him to be finished.
"As soon as they are grown enough, they will need to be taught how to hunt." He said. "We should not need her for long."
The children would grow fast, and he suspected they would both be quite strong, as his other children were.

He was glad for the arm around him. Leaning his head against the God’s shoulder. “It would be way too cramped in there for her anyhow. Then I would have to find places for all the other stuff.” It was, of course, a joke but he made it sound like it was an exasperating inconvenience for him.
In truth he enjoyed it. Ravnos he always enjoyed a bit of decadence if his wagon was any proof of that. Just about everything in it was stolen. Except maybe the bed. That would have been gross.
But sorting items and finding decorations for the rooms had been what he had done while waiting for the eggs to hatch. He was making this place a home. Grendel and his home.
“Of course.” It was an inevitability. Soon they would tired of being handed their food and that drive to hunt would come roaring foreword. If not taught right they could wind up shattering the Masquerade.
No pressure.

This was nice. It was moments like this that made it easy for Grendel to forget that he always had some other pressing matters to attend to. It was a little like playing pretend, except that this was actually his life. He was split between his joy and his duty, always trying to balance both while knowing that there would inevitably be times when they would collide, no matter how much he tried to keep them separate.
But for now...
He enjoyed the press of Ravnos's head against his shoulder, feeling oddly at ease, his nerves beginning to settle. He might still feel quite clueless when it came to children, but he was willing to learn or work logically through any problems that might arise. If he was capable of looking after an entire race of beings, then surely he could handle two more, even if it was quite a bit more hands-on.
Besides. He wasn't alone and had reason to hope that he never would be again. With that thought, he turned his head and leaned it down to kiss Ravnos again, though this time more thoroughly, to show his appreciation.
He might not have stopped except that he became aware of the fact that Kieran had finished eating, and the childe was being held out towards them by the nursemaid. Sighing a little, he pulled away from Ravnos to take him.

The Disciple was glad that Grendel was here’s that they were going through all, well most, of the firsts together. That he wasn’t on his own doing this. He probably would have been a bit more neurotic that he was now.
Vadoma squirmed in his arms just a bit and he held her tighter.
He melted into the kiss. His skin prickling lightly as he resisted the urge to press his body against the God. To wrap his arms around his neck and pull him in close. It was hard but he managed.
When he pulled away he watched him take the baby held out before smiling. “It’s probably best to put them in the crib now.” They were fed and probably tired now with full bellies.
Vadoma yawned, making the tiniest of squeaks before furiously rubbing her tiny eyes.
