Valentine's, anyone?
  Give us a kiss!
  I'll be hiding in a flower-free, heart-free, schmoopiekins-free zone.
Hand me the chocolate and no one will get hurt!

How do I celebrate V-Day? Usually I'm at work that day (I'm a line cook at a fine italian restaurant). This is actually the first time since I started working that I can remember having Valentine's off. As such I have no idea what I'm going to do. Since I'm single I'll probably be here on Gaia.

I'm not a fan of the chocolate because I'm vegan, and most of the chocolate isn't. I don't really do anything about valentines day. I can assume I will be spending it with my boyfriend but not because we are celebrating valentines day. We spend every day together.

We both agree that giving gifts or doing nice things for your lover are more romantic when done on a random day, on the spur of the moment. NOT only on days that society dictates we should by stuff for them. Valentines is going to get treated by me just like all the other days.

You know, back in high school I used to be very cynical about V-day because it felt like there would never be anyone for me. I felt lonely and dejected because my feelings were often times brushed to the side by people who I felt strongly about.
So, for me V-day is more of a reminder to appreciate the fact that I have someone who loves me and cares about me. I remember the empty hallow feeling that used to overwhelm me during this time, and try to focus on how much better I have it now that I have someone to spend the day with. ^_^

As for the comercial aspects... candy is always a good thing really, but I try to not get too wrapped up in all of the trappings of the holiday. I much perfer to spend time doing something I enjoy with ceilisidhe than to get so wrapped up with all of the frills and lace that I loose the spirit of the holiday.

I hate valntines day those years I don't have a gf/bf, otherwise I just see it as a day to spend with him/her 3nodding

It's not like I'm going to buy lots of chocolate/flowers anyway, since valentines day isn't really celebrated here... and I also agree it's gone too far in the shops etc... >>

but the idea behind the day is a nice one 3nodding

(I have a valentine's goth-avi in the arena... vote? *points discreetly to sig*)

My annual Valentines celebration consists of me watching a gorey movie, while eating chocolate. This year I'm watching The Descent. mrgreen

This year I'll be over 200 miles away from my girlfriend, so I'll be spending the day in my room with a big bottle of whiskey.

People seem to have the misconception that people in love only use Valentine's Day to show them they love their partner and exclude all other days.

Which, frankly, is bullshit. Many people who are in love show it on a daily basis, and just use Valentine's Day as a chance to buy things with hearts on them due to how easy it is to find such things, and they use it as an excuse as to why they shower their partners with love every day.

I know I go most days without an excuse, I just am romantic anyway. Valentine's Day gives me a chance to say "Hey, I'm now acting this way ALSO because it's Valentine's Day".

Am I being confusing?

I wish my boyfriend were like that. I mean I know he loves me but he doesn't always go out of his way to show it. D:

I try to make her happy, always.

Every hour of every day. It's great, and I like making her happy.

Though, I still feel like I'm not doing enough... because there's days when she's sad and I can't fix it.

... That scenario feels freakishly familiar to me O_o

V-Day is a regular day to me. Go home, watch some gore-tastic anime, listen to some music, go to sleep.

I was thinking the same, then again, me and Isel are almost the same person in terms of opinions and life experiances...
