KotOR is C-Canon.

Meaning the story is canon but elements such as Bastilla ahving a saberstaff isn't.

Well, I haven't played the game. Who's to say what the Jedi back then thought of it? By the end of the Old Republic, it was regarded as a Sith weapon.

Apparently Bastila was more of a rebellious Jedi herself, kinda like Qui-Gon and after her brush with Revan, she decided to use a dual-saber and sort of pioneered it for the Jedi.
