Loyal and gentle, Totoro is best friends with Shin'Jougen. Shin's family is the only one he has ever known, having been found as a lost puppy when his friend was a cub himself.
To Totoro, Shin (and his sister Kani) is more than a friend, he is a brother, where one is, the other is not far.
While the pridelands is spared the mischief the pair once indulged in as cubs, it is not free from the mischief of two adults who will never be above their moments of cubbish behavior.
Totoro does not speak (though he does understand), but rather conveys what he wishes to say through barks and body language.
