Looking to Blaine for a moment in an effort to comprehend what exactly the man had been saying, the answer came quickly as the Magmortar fired itself into the air to meet the Mega Houndoom. Leaving Reno with the time to simply shout, "Arceus damn it!"
Figuring a plea to god to damn something was as good a reason as any to unleash hellfire, Ezekiel opened his mouth to unleash an apocalyptic level of heat in the form of an all out Overheat attack. Rather than the usual reduction, the Mega Houndoom put every bit of his enhanced attack into the blast of flames. With a power like that, it would absolutely exhaust Ezekiel and leave him open if the Magmortar got through. But, again, it would have to fight through flames built to raze land to bare earth powered up beyond reason.

The flames would consume Magmortar, the Pokemon disappearing into the fire for a good long time, leaving the question on whether or not this battle was over in a mystery. Blaine didn't give up hope once, his smile never leaving his face. And the gym leader was right not to give up as Magmortar reappeared in front of the Mega Houndoom, painfully exhausted as it slammed its now 'Plasma Punch' into the dog.
Magmortar would land on a pillar after hitting its mark, panting heavily as it tried to remain up right, despite being a Fire type its self that Overheat really exhausted it and made it difficult to breath.

Ezekiel would be sent flying onto one of the other uncollapsed pillars, barely managing to stand strong on his new perch. And after all the fighting he had been doing, it looked like any movement might send him to that sweet abyss known as unconsciousness. And Reno was left with the tricky situation of how to do an attack against the Magmortar without knocking his own Pokemon out. "Well, it appears we are at an impasse. Without any foreseeable way to assail the Magmortar without taking out my own Pokemon and the opposite likely holding true, I will simply have ta accept a draw, claim the spoils a war, and call it a day. Now, I need a roaring applause for my victory and..." Reno trailed off from his attempt to coerce Blaine with an epic speech as an idea passed into his head. "That's it! Ezekiel, use Roar!"
The command would reach the worn out Mega Houndoom, who fought to heave in a deep enough breath for this strategy. finally feeling safe with doing anything, the Houndoom attempted to steady itself before letting out a vicious Roar that aimed to panic the Magmortar and send it falling off the pillar to the ground or something equally as hard. From this high, even the lava would feel like a rock on impact.

The roar would succeed in startling Magmortar causing it to sway back and forth as it began to lose its balance from taking a single step over the side behind it. It was too late however as the Magmortar then tumbled over backwards and fell to its (non-lethal) demise, slamming into the molten rock flat on its back. Blaine looked down at his Pokemon to see if it had a chance of getting back up, but he knew good and well that it did not. With a smile and a laugh, Blaine recalled his Pokemon and pressed a button on the wall, the pillars they weren't on falling into the lava, two metal sheets coming out of the stone wall in front of their feet, sealing up the lava chamber.
With the field now just metal and safe to walk on, Blaine would approach Reno and grab his hand to shake. "Splendid! You beat the heat and won the battle! Now, before I give you your badge, one last quiz. Will Reno defeat the final gym and take on the Elite Four?" He smiled.

Reno and Ezekiel would both collapse at the sight of solid land covering the lava, the trainer letting out a sigh of relief that his crazy plan had worked. It had been a stupid-sounding one, but stupid-sounding had never stopped him before. Slowly scooping himself off the floor, Reno met the extended hand to finish the shake. "As an answer, I bloody hope so." The red haired psychic wheezed out, peering around the room slightly. "One question: how do I get out?"

"By taking this!" Blaine said with a smile as he handed Reno a small red badge shaped to look like a flame. "It's the Volcano Badge, of course. Might be a little hot still, I forged it during our battle. Bet you didn't even see me do it! I'm that good!" He laughed.
As soon as Reno took the badge the floor beneath him would begin to shake. A circular section of the steel field would suddenly shoot up into the air with Reno on top of it, lava beneath it forcing it up. Blaine would look up and wave goodbye at Reno as the ceiling opening up to let Reno through. The trainer would travel all the way up through a vertical tunnel carved out into the rock and eventually pass through a clear tube into the gym which he could briefly see a gym trainer taking on a challenger.
The next thing Reno knew he was out from underground, out of the tube in the gym, and now up in the open air, the metal disc he was on was gone and he was in a free fall heading straight for the ocean on Route 20. With a fierce splash he would land.
"Cool?" A Tentacool mumbled questioningly as its head poked out of the water and stared at Reno. "Cool." "Cool!" "Cooool!" Uh oh, looks like Reno was finding himself in the middle of a school of Tentacool. "Cruel!" Congratulations on that win, Reno.

Reno would quietly grab the badge, attempting to give a nod before he was sent flying into the sky by a pillar. Somehow, this quick escape from the Gym did not really surprise Reno considering the other insane things that Blaine had done. "Oh god. Ah, the danger. However shall I survive this horrific turn of events. Well, time fer em ta sleep it off on this pillar until I reach the top." The deadpan response as he found himself hurtling towards ground level was soon replaced by him flying through the air above a wide expanse of ocean. "Welp, this is unexpected. Cannonball!" Reno now crowed, balling himself up to smash into the ocean below with a massive splash. A splash that disturbed and alerted the Tentacool pod he had landed on. Rising from the ocean astride his new Tentacruel steed who was currently threatening to flay him alive, the red haired psychic would let out a panicked screech before attempting to throw out and leap onto his hoverboard. He wanted to live, damnit.

Finally finished panicking over his near death experience after having flown through the majority of the Viridian Forest, Reno would roll to a stop at the front door of the Viridian Gym and he was prepared...to take a nap right there. Managing to convince him self to open the door and roll into the lobby, he awaited the usual spiel he had gotten used to.

Tesei Utakata Finally finished panicking over his near death experience after having flown through the majority of the Viridian Forest, Reno would roll to a stop at the front door of the Viridian Gym and he was prepared...to take a nap right there. Managing to convince him self to open the door and roll into the lobby, he awaited the usual spiel he had gotten used to. "Yo! Champ in the making!" Just as Reno assumed, the oh-so-lovable gym guide ran up to him as soon as he entered the gym. The gym was way more vibrant the other gyms in Kanto. The walls were some sort of pale blue steel. The floor seemed to be just one giant monitor of some sort, giving off a faint blue glow. It was dark in here so it was hard to see what the rest of the gym was like and if there were any gym trainers, the only light was from what was assumed to be a monitor for a floor and the single light above Reno and the gym guide at the entrance. "So this is the end of the gym road. Be careful in this gym, the floor is very unstable, you see, the leader here likes to keep his challengers on their toes. Speaking of the leader, some consider him to be one of the most powerful gym leaders in the world! He used to be champion awhile back ya know. One other thing that makes this gym different from others, there is no type specialty. Just like this world, the Earth Badge symbolizes the unity of all different types coming together to achieve victory in harmony! The only way you can defeat this gym and earn your right to face the Elite Four is by finding your own harmony." The gym guide said with a smile as he took off his trademark sunglasses and handed them to Reno. "Here, a good luck charm! Heck, they are even lucky if you lose em! I lost them once in Hoenn." He said with a laugh. "Now go on and take your first step towards the end!" With that said, a blue panel lite up on the monitor in front of Reno, it was a square with an arrow in it pointing forward.

Staring between the new set of sunglasses he had been handed and the barely illuminated gym floor, unsure exactly how to respond to this strange development. Settling with simply perching the glasses on his nose before beginning to walk forward. "Thanks fer the good luck charm. Hope that if we do meet again, its 'cause you decided ta meet me at the Pokemon League." Reno said to the gym guide, giving a curt nod before walking past to stand on the illuminated panel. "Well, let's see what this weirdo can do."

"Well, let's see what this weirdo can do." The panel would light up as Reno stepped on it, a pink box of light rising up out of it which would surround Reno. A female voice would speak to Reno from a speaker directly above him. Should he examine it enough he would notice the speaker was on a track and could move through out the gym. It also had a camera lens. "Please keep all hands and feet inside the perimeter at all times. The Gym Leader would like to remind you that the odds are against you and giving up is heavily suggested. If you still wish to continue with your challenge then remain in place for next ten seconds. We hope you enjoy your stay at the Viridian Gym. Just like the voice promised, ten seconds later Reno's entire world would begin to move. It was strange, it was almost as if Reno stayed still and the area around him moved. The room would begin to spin and move in a zigzag pattern. What seemed like an eternity of spinning and turning was actually just a few seconds. Once everything finally stopped Reno would find himself having to make a choice as he was presented with two different sets of colored arrow panels. The first set in front had two panels, a dark red panel with a sword symbol and a dark blue panel with a shield symbol. The second behind it had one grey arrow panel and the other a light blue, the arrows pointed in opposite directions. "Challenger, please select two panels. Step on one on the first row and then step and stand on one of the second to proceed. Provided you can still walk right." The female voice asked.

Stumbling groggily from the spin cycle he had just been put through to get here, Reno felt himself barely able to control himself going forward. So it was no surprise when he stumbled across the panels and only by chance managed to hit the sword and the light blue panels. Well, it was time to see if the mystical beam of light could catch a spin-drunk man.

So it was no surprise when he stumbled across the panels and only by chance managed to hit the sword and the light blue panels. Well, it was time to see if the mystical beam of light could catch a spin-drunk man. The light would indeed catch Reno, taking him on the same wild ride as before. This time however the light seemed to transport him either up or down a floor during the spin, hell he wasn't even sure which way he was going at this point, just that he was moving. Once the ride stopped Reno would find himself in a room similar to the one he left except this one had a giant swimming pool in it with floating platforms. Different colored lights would illuminate it from beneath the water. This felt slightly familiar... "Man dude, you picked wicked bad for your first battle." A female Ace Trainer laughed from the other side of the pool, tossing her Pokeball up and down. "Either way bro, I suppose I should welcome you to the Viridian City gym. As you can see we do things differently here as there is no set type. Instead, the panels you choose result in a different challenge each time until you make it to the leader, ya feel? Give you one guess what you picked for your first challenge." The Ace Trainer was short on words as she tossed a Net Ball into the pool, a bright flash of light going off as the Pokemon inside was released. "Golduck!" Cried the water Pokemon as it jumped out of the water and landed on a platform.

Staring groggily at the battlefield and the trainer across the pool, Reno came to a stunning conclusion. "Oh hell, I got sent back ta Cerulean City! Not this again! Sparks, go. Time ta electrocute a Golduck." Managing to scramble through his bag and pull out his own Pokeball, Reno hurled it at the platforms and landed the device in the water. Releasing its contents onto a platform by some miracle, the Elekid would stare down his opponent for a minute before its arms began to spin. A bolt of Thunder would fly out, in an attempt to fry the Golduck before it could manage anything this fight. How is that such a tiny guy got more ruthless with each use?

"Aqua Jet!" The Ace Trainer cried. A split second before the Thunder struck, Golduck would launch its self off the platform and land on a nearby one. If ducks could smile it would. "Such a poorly aimed attack, bro. It will take more than that to down us yo. Now let's get the real battle started, Wonder Room." The female Ace Trainer said with a smile.
Golduck would hold its two 'index' fingers to its glowing forehead gem and a blue cube of energy would appear in front of it. As Golduck focused on its gem the cube would rapidly begin to expand until it consumed the entire room, the entire area now inside the blue checkered cube of energy. "The party starts now."
