Frankly I can't find myself using a saber as a stave. too difficult to use.
Plus I'd probably burn my hand off trying to grip a part thats not meant to be gripped.

Nothing stopping you from making an handle even longer than Maul's, with shorter blades. It'd be a bit more difficult to carry around than a standard lightsaber, though.

If I'm gonna wail on someone with a pole, I'll just use a damn pole.
The beauty of a stave is that it can be gripped anywhere, thus offering a great diversity in range and striking power.

Just use those staffs the Magnaguards for Grevious used. They were more like a pike than a staff, but essentially the same thign.

Not a bad Idea.
but by this time they're probably pretty hard to find. Anything that can resist a lightsaber blade is pretty much priceless by CotGCW times.

Those were just force pikes I think.

Edit: They were Electrostaves.

Still, they had to be something more. They were capable of blocking Lightsaber blades.

Phrik Alloy?
I am intrigued.
Explain to me this "Phrik" alloy.

Wookieepedia
Phrik alloy was a rare metallic compound that was one of only a few lightsaber-resistant substances known. It was used in the polearms of MagnaGuard electrostaffs and Palpatine's lightsaber, as well as the armor of Dark Troopers. One major source of phrik was the phrikite mines of Gromas 16. Phrik was very expensive, and as a result it saw limited use in warfare.

hmm...
feh. I'll stick with Mandalorian Iron.
"Phrik Alloy" just doesnt sound as cool.

The only problem with Mandelorian Alloy is this: It comes from Mandelorians.

All of whom are either extinct, or very unwilling to part with the little iron they have left.

And its not made anymore. While Phrik doesn't sound as cool, its at least able to be found.

True.

But the problem still remains in the idea of aquiring it.
