Well it can also be considered a personal yacht after all the CR-90 is also used as a pleasure ship. Automation can be handled through slave rigging which is not only possible for a ship this size but cheep. Size wise Talon Karrde uses a ship that size and needs no license.

He's also a professional smuggler who didn't go through the authorities to buy a ship, and owns his own crime ring. Not to mention, his were freighters to begin with, modded out. Not dedicated weapons

You're a richkid with a credit card.

And what are you going to say when the custom's official sees you unloading and you are unable to produce a trader's liscence, much less proof of ownership of your "yacht"?

Ahhhh... customs officers. So gullible. You need to be wary about what you can and can't do off the bat. As a kid who's had no real experience with the authorities, you won't be able to get away with much especially if you don't know their tendencies. Experience is a key thing here. Your not going to be able to hide anything because chances are you'll hide it in the first place they'll look.

Well fortunatley he has nothing to hide a ship with out any military mods is not likely to be searched and if it is and loot is found where would he have gotten it if the ship is unarmed. How would he attack people.

Your ship has to be armed in some way for you 1) to be a pirate and 2) to fight those who your trying to steal from. You will need ion cannons in order to disable a ship and board it for one. And you will want lasers when the Imps are chasing you down over that stolen loot and other damages.

Unarmed ships, armed ships, they're all under the jurisdiction of custom agents.

and you'll have to produce documments where you got all these "items". No offense, but you need to go through a customs routine once or twice. They search quite a lot.

Stealing is stealing. Whether it be through fraud, or brute force, it matters not. You're still selling cargo not belonging to you. A crime which, if you can't manage to secure the proper documentation, will automatically nullify any plans of "tricking" the custom agent.

Pirates don't smuggle... they go to ports that don't have customs agents to offload their booty. Free Trade Worlds ROCK!

I also think Privateering would be a good move...

Plus we've got a proxy war going on between the bothans and the hutts. Privateering is becoming a booming busness... plus later we'll probably have some GLF Privateers.

I really need to get my Rapora in this RP.

Than just listen to Nelo and the rest they know what they're talking about. We're not telling you to be perfect, but you don't want to make a beginner's mistake either. Piracy, contrary to popular belief, is not easy. We want to help you so your able to hold your own against who you'll normally face.

We really should make sure and ask him if he wants to be straight pirate or a privateer.

So which one do you want mate?

Piracy with a government backing you and a limited number of targets.

-OR-

You vs the Galaxy?

Well my character does not mention not having those, he could use them, he would have to know this stuff in order to even get started. The ship I will trade for a newer YT model

Chances are he could go from one to the other. Start off a privateer then become a pirate when the backing is no more. Similar to historical pirates.
