Yeah, those kind of sights on that rifle you have to get some type of scope.

Reflex or ACOG are the two I'd choose from.
Right now, I've got an AIM Sports Scout-type scope. It's not bad, not incredible or anything, but it's very much Scout-type. Low magnification, but great peripheral vision. Problem is, with a heavy barrel, it's incredibly front-heavy.

I'm also considering replacing those sights with Troy Tritium night sights.

That'd look pretty sweet.

A bit more functional than what looks like a Popsicle stick with a hole in it.
Yeah, that's what I was thinking.

I'm not sure if it's elevation adjustable or not.

Ooo...
yeah, it looks to only have windage.
On the other hand, zero that at 200m, and it's a working combat zero for pretty much anything.

Plus, it's backup, and I don't thing ACOGs fail much.

It might already be set at that distance, item description is 'battle sight', are they normally set at 200m?

300m, I think, is the traditional M16 setting, although 200 has its proponents, myself included.

The difference between 200 and 300 yards is roughly 2MOA. So if you set it for 200, you're off by six inches at 300, but if you set it for 300, you're four inches off at 200. Six inches too high is the difference between heart and throat, lung and over-the-shoulder. Four inches too low is the difference between heart and stomach, lung and kidney.

Mm. Then again, if I have to use BUIS, then it's all around 100m or less.

I'll burn that bidge when I get to it.

Hadn't we already seen your H&K? I seem to remember it having an intimate meeting with liquid nitrogen.

1942 mosin-nagant
.410 shotgun
.22 AR7
.22 bulgarian training rifle
.308 break action Hi-power hunting rifle

Its hard to find GOOD ammo for my Nagant down here in Georgia, because if you get the wrong kind, its bolt won't work right and I have to literally wrestle the thing to get another bullet into the chamber.

That's pretty much just Mosins.

You can go at the chamber with a 20 gauge bore mop chucked in a drill (CAREFULLY) to clean the chamber really well.

Go to 7.62x54r.net/forums and ask for some help with the sticky bolt. Unless you're shooting lacquered stuff, you shouldn't be having sticking problems.

My M38, '43 Izzy, Ex-Dragoon and the '39 Tula cycle laquered finished stuff for me just fine.

It just really comes down to the individual rifle.
I have another Izzy can't remember the year, that's a pain in the a** to cycle with the bolt down, I wont even try laquer in that one.

My dad says we might get a handgun soon!

He wants to buy something from an American company, but I just showed him Sierra's 2 USPs and said that they are durable enough to cast a frost spell on, so we might get a USP or one of the new HK45s!

I didn't get anything fun at Gander, everything cost more than I wanted to spend. Different box of ammo coming soon, I hope.
