She smirked, "No one can hear, loyal huntsman. Their ears are deff in cocky celibration." She walked away.

"Are you......mad?" She looked worried.

Xane growled under his breath. "She always was the one I could never trust with anything..."

Tobias sighed. "Not mad, in either sense of the word, but worried. Everything feels like it's going too smoothly; it just feels like something is supposed to go wrong, and the only thing I could imagine like that at the moment would be you returning to your normal self. Gods, I must sound quite mad indeed! Perhaps a visit to the Royal Surgeon is in order..."

Her eyebrows furrowed together in sadness, "m-my 'normal' self?"

"I really mustn't be well, if I actually went and said that! Truth be told, even as a Guardian, I've grown accustomed to failure throughout my entire fight. I'm used to having my spirits crushed; the fact that you still love me confounds me. I am not used to this, and I'm wondering what great cosmic event will end up ruining it." He shed tears now. "I don't want to lose you... But I probably will. I'm nothing but a cowardly, porcine excuse of a failure; always have been, always will be. Perhaps this time will finally do it. Perhaps my heart will break so severely it shall be destroyed..."

She gingerly held his head in her hands, "I love you, Tobius. Please.....Please, remember that." She softly put her lips to his.

He turned his head, ashamed. "I wonder how long it'll be before I can screw that up..." He spoke as if he was back in the future that time; that was the voice of the hollow shell he had become when Xane was inside him. It bore that same tone of self-frustration and self-doubt, and it wavered at moments like a fine crystal about to shatter...

(You see what happens when you question your own worth? You see what happens when you don't believe you deserve your fortune? Take this as a lesson, and take it well.)

"T....Tobius. Don't doubt yourself. Please. I once heared, back in the futer, that everyone gets one wish. I..I wish for you to be happy. I don't care about anything, or anyone else." She kissed the palm of his hand.

Not able to think of anything else to say, he suddenly grasped her in a hug, crying tears of mixed sorrow and happiness.

Xane arrived in the cook's quarters. Carefully, looking like the cook he inhabited, he slipped poison into everything. "I wonder what that lack-wit disciple of mine is planning... At any rate, this shall succeed where she may fail."

Jessamine searched the palace aeria for the Princess.

"I don't ever want you to feal sad, even if it means that someday I'm nolonger the girl who keeps you happy. "

His heart stung with those words, but Tobias would have none of that on his wedding day. "I would never ask that of you, my love. Come; this is a happy day, and everyone's working so hard to make it perfect! Let us show them their efforts are worth it!"

She smiled and suddenly laughed. "I suppose I'm acting silly." Her smile touched her eyes.

He caressed the side of her face. "You're acting out of love; that's all that matters."
