Apparently my entire family is separating from my parents for holidays now because my parents are the most Conservative, homophobic, racist bastards ever. All the children, nephews, nieces, brothers in law, boyfriends, girlfriends, etc. will now be gathering at my sister's house instead of my parents' house. I don't think anyone is objecting to this at all.
Why, you ask?: Over this past weekend my parents got the pleasure of meeting my brother's boyfriend. My brother asked if his bf could attend Thanksgiving and they said no because they didn't want to "be put into a position in which they are forced to endorse such behavior". They think being gay is okay, but acting upon it is immoral.
So, that's what's up.

On a more serious note however, I'm sorry that your family feels this way.
I dealt with a lot of people like that recently, although not in my family.
I was phone banking to try to make Prop 1 NOTPASS in Maine.
And everyone who I called who didn't support gay marriage, who I asked to vote No on the anti-gaymarriage bill, gave me this shpiel about how they support equality amongst people.. And if gays could ahve the rights, they wouldn't care. But marriage, that's a different story.
It's so sad that the word MARRIAGE has so much importance.
When the people who don't want gays to marry aren't against the equality..
Just the "word's meaning".
