Well that works for several reasons:
1. I worked for the Separatists during the war.
2. You're an Alien in a Humanocentric Buerocracy.

They probably would want to shuffle you off to the worst job they could think of, and trailing a Mandalorian clone war vet who hasnt caused trouble in 15 years and who lives on the edge of the Galaxy is about as dead end a job as they probably could find.
