Fechín has always had bad vision, so his parents requested spectacles be made for him out of some of the crystals from deep in the caves.
The cloth on his back and the bracelet were gifts from his parents and sister respectively, the cloth when he finished his apprenticeship as a scribe and the bracelet when his sister married the king. It was unusual that she would give him a gift, but it was so that he would have something to remind himself of his sister, because they wouldn't see each other as often.
