Time travel could theoretically never work.

It kinda has to do with the "Energy can be neither created or destroyed" stuff.

If someone were to travel back in time, they would be introducing themselves into an environment where the amount of mass is already perfected. By introducing themselves into such an environment, they would tip the scale. Meaning, they would have too much mass in the past, and too little in the future. That, is, assuming that the amount of mass in relation to time stays the same. To say that one would be adding more mass to the pass, they would be pulling themselves from the present and depositing them to the past... In example: Say I have two glasses of the same size with three cherries in them sitting on a scale. I take one cherry out of the one on the right, then drop it into the left one. The left one now has four cherries and the right one now only has two cherries in it. As such, the scale would dip towards the left. If it were to tip far enough, the glass would fall and shatter. This is the general concept. If we were to travel back to the past, we'd probably destroy time.

Oh. And ******** Temporal Paradoxes.

Happy Birthday, Sir Isaac Newton.
