I'm with you on that one for sure! My own borther used to be a Goth and got smacked really badly by someone. He had to go to court and the dentist (to have broken teeth repaired). Actually your mum has a point, yes you have a right to be different, but you should use common sense, I'm not saying wear trackies and walk around in a pack of 10 mugging people, but just don't wear your culture so much on your sleeve, unless you have cause too, like if your going to wear your new rocks, just wear jeans, a tee and your jacket, if your walking around and wearing your culture on your sleeve all the time, especially if your a guy with long hair then to be honest, you should know what to expect and I have no sympathy for you, because your being an idiot.

Joking aside, I like to make a point of forcing the chavs to accept that there are differnet people in the world so they're gonna have to get used to it, ergo black all the way and sticking my long haired bf's hair in pigtails. (fine, slight joke there). But, that being said I do know that to expect from the chavs, but if they're going to attack you for just wearing an opeth tee, you might as well go the whole bloody hog for the dumbass lynch mob and sparkle in your death clothes.

I live in the states to in New York to be exact and the school i go to there is a group of punk/skaters/Goth's/Emo's that usually all have each others backs. But if your by your self and you Gothic like me your an easy target. Being different means that you are ridiculed beyond all believe. But if your with your with a group of Goth's or punk ex than usually your left well alone. For me i don't care I'll go to school with my black shirts and necklaces and goth pants and jelly bands and if you got a problem with me than you say it to my face because i don't get even physically or by spreading rumors i just have a sharp tongue and if your on my bad side than you get to deal with me yelling at you. (I'm usually a good natured person). But hate crimes usually only happen against gays. But i mean Friends are really the most important thing and to neevr go anywhere alone unless you really are having an i hate the world day or you can't find anyone.

I've had jeans, white vans and a coloured t shirt on and still been called 'miss mosh'.
