Makali stood next to Choku with his mouth agape just as his friend's was. The pair would've looked identical if only they were colored the same. It didn't take long after, though, until Makali snapped out of it and ran to get four pieces of bark himself! He wore down his claws a bit, but he wasn't one to fuss over such a thing. (He actually thought, a bit, that it made him look macho!) He, too, situated himself on the things, a bit awkwardly at first, but good enough! He shifted his weight to give himself a nudge and was speeding down the ledge in no time, though both Wingu and Choku had a decent head-start on him. He was the last to make it to the bottom, but he made it laughing his head off. "That was a blast!" He yelled, hopping off the bark bits before they even reached the bottom, using the momentum of the slide to propel his jump further than it normally would've been. Wingu was the only cool girl he knew, it was almost like she wasn't even a girl, she was more of a guy. "Good idea, Runty," Makali said, giving the juve a rough noogie.

"Should we split up from here?" He asked either of them, looking from one to the other.

Wingu was at the bottom first-- she'd had a great head start from both of them, though she still had her bark with her-- jsut in case there was another good slope around here. Getting out didn't seme half as fun, sadly.

"Thankyou. " She smiled, mostly to herself. That had been clever! And faster than Makali's way. Also a ton funner.

Chokuto chuckled, he'd managed to roll onto the floor when the slide had anded, tohugh hadn't bothered getting up just yet. "Sounds good! " He smiled, getting back on al fours.

"Lets stay in shouting range in case we find anything. " Or something similar.. getting attacked by a rogue didn't seem fun, especially considering Wingu was just a juve. And runty, at that. Not even Chokuto would be happy if someone picked her up and ran off!

"I'll go this way, " He pointed towards the main "road" of the gorge, it was like a long large bowl, exactly where you wouldn't want to be in case of a stampede, but there were small little crack which could perhaps lead to the idea hideout.

Makali nodded at Chokuto. "Sounds like a good idea. Wouldn't want to fall in a hole and be left, or anything." He chuckled. Even the typically-wreckless lions were cautious here, imagine what convincing a nervous-wreck of a cub down here would be like! Oh, what fun. He stuck his tongue out the side of his mouth, mind consumed once more by the amount of pranks they could pull. "I'll head off this way, then." Makali said, pointing the opposite way down the gorge. He didn't give a thought to what he should do should a stampede occur, nor what he would do if he fell down a hole or something. Makali just assumed all would be well and bounded off a little bit, not too far, yet. The gorge's wall had plenty of cracks in it, but none that were in immediate sight were big enough for him to fit through. He knew if he went digging about the place, though, that he'd find someplace.

Today was perfect. The teen had been in the gorge a few other times in his life, but each visit was cut short by paranoia about a parent or sibling finding him down here, sometimes it was even really close! He'd never gotten to do a full-out investigation of the place...

Chokuto was off, Wingu had alredy scurried into a thinner trail, which left nothing more to do than nose around. The adolescent poked here and there, climbing on rock after rock and keeping o the dangerous parts-- those were bound to have more hideouts.

"Any luck yet? " The adolescent shouted after a long enough while, then tilted his earsupwards to listen to any response.

Wingu didn't answer. Mostly because she was a liiittle busy clinging to dear life. She'd managed to slip, but it wasn't nothing she couldn't handle. It just might take her a little while to get completely back up. sadly, she'd fallen right when Chokuto shouted, whic hhad been the real reason for her lack of reply; the noise of falling had simply blocked him yelling out. Oooh, bad luck.

Fortunately, she'd just been thinking of shouting aswell. "I don't think there's anything over here! "

Mak had missed Wingu's slip, and therefore thought she was just working her way up or down somthing before responding. His eyes, however, were set on something, as was more than half of his attention. "Nothing over here yet, either... Though there looks like there's something cool in the distance..." Makali said. His eyes could be wrong, or could be right.... There was the gorge's wall to the right of a rather large boulder. It was in full contact with the gorge wall, he wasn't entirely sure it was even a seperate thing, but perhaps a protrusion out of the wall. It looked like there could be a small hole at the base of it, maybe. "There's something interesting looking this way, but I have no idea if it's actually a cave or not, it's kinda far off!" He yelled back, not removing his gaze from the thing. For fear of losing sight of it when he looked away, though he knew he'd find it again. "You think it's anything?"

Makali squinted at it in an attempt to see if he could discern whether it even had an entrance or not, or if it was just a gap in the rock. "I really can't tell from here," Makali said, pulling his eyes off of the spot finally and turning around to face both Choku and Wingu, though he was pointed more towards Choku. "It's too far off. I'd have to go check it out, wanna come?" Makali offered with a head tilt before turning his golden gaze back to the place. He was able to find it again. It was hard to tell if he just knew where to look now or if it really stood out. Mak also had been imagining such a place, but he had no idea from what he could see if this particular area was ideal.

By the time Makali asked the question, Chokuto had found his way over, fur rather dusty from squeezing through a few cracks, and there was a cobweb stuck to the tip of his tail thathe hadn't noticed just yet, but otherwise fine.

"Sure! " If it might be a good hideout, it was worth it, right?

It took Wingu a bit longer, but hey, she had short legs! "Then why are you all waiting around here? " she huffed, her fur had rubbed out in bad directions ebcause of the fall, and she was more dusty than Chokuto-- a little bruised under the fur, too-- but overall fine. She was just glad they hadn't SEEN her slip.

"Lets go!

Makali started off, eyes locked on the place. He hoped that it would hold some merit, that it would be what they wanted. His pace wasn't running, but it wasn't walking either. It was slow enough to be comfortable. "So neither of you guys found anything good?" He asked as the trio padded along, removing his gaze from the place to glance from one to the other.

"Not much here, really. Found a few good trick spots, though. " He'd found a smallish crack-clearing after a few tunnels, with a samall one comming from them. If one shuted into that small one, he bet any little kids inside would be scared out of their fur.

Once closer, Wingu started into a sprint towards what they were going for, laping up on a rock and peering more towards it, trying to make out if it really was a cave or not. The sooned they found out, the sooner they oculd check it out-- or go find another.

Makali nodded to Choku. "Sounds like a good idea. After we find a place, I imagine the next thing to find around here are some good prank spots," the teen said with a mischievous grin. "I saw some cracks too, but WAY too small to fit into. It'd be perfect if a cave had a tunnel that went past them, though, we could call out to anyone in the canyon." They were exactly what he had been imagining on his way down here for a prank... Only good if there was a way to the other side of the rock, that was.

When Wingu ran off towards it, Makali did too. Not as a race, but because anticipation had built up enough for him to want to get there faster. Makali didn't stop at the rock that Wingu had stopped at, though, he kept going. The closer he got, the more he started to notice a few things. First off, it wasn't a big boulder, it was a protrusion from the wall of the gorge. Secondly... the dark spot he'd seen from a distance was just a gap in the protrusion, not an entry to a cave. The hope Makali had harbored in his heart sank. "This isn't a cave," He yelled back to the others. Out of hope, the grey teen padded to see what was on the other side, to be greeted by an interesting sight. There was a boulder on this side of the big jutting-out wall. It was nestled into the corner of the large mass and the rest of the gorge wall. In a desperate hope for there to be some sort of awesome place, he budged the boulder with all he had. It didn't move much, but enough for him to see that behind it wasn't the brown that the gorge's wall was- but blackness, a hole! "Look at this, guys!" Makali called, not paying any attention to where the other two were.

"Hey! " Wingu smiled, speeding up, though she did soon find ehrself racing agaisnt both Makali and Chokuto. Not so much racing as running, but adding a little bit of race was fun! Chokuto, however, was fast, and the sort to speed up just to show that he could win. This time, however, he seemed to be taking it fairly easy.

Chokuto had enjoyed the nice easy run, if only because he'd spent the last few hours climbing around rocks. He did frown slightly upon the discovery that is was just a crack, that wasn't so great. However, he perked up once Makali called again. "What? " Soon enough Chokuto was trotting towards his side.

wingu peeped up between Makali's front legs, perhings her ears and sniffing at the gap. "Smells funky. " she wrinkled her nose slightly.

"Stale air?" Was Mak's response to Wingu. He could only guess that that was what it was. He had to admit that it did smell a bit odd there, but that was the only guess he had. "Or maybe it's a dead body!" Makali said in a creepy ghost voice, almost sure that that wasn't what it was. The possibility was there, but he still doubted it, that'd be just weird. "Chokuto, I think there's an entrance over here, but there's a rock in the way, I can't push it the rest of the way myself, I need a paw. Ready?" the teen asked, getting himself in a position where Choku, and possibly Wingu could help him push it aside more. It wouldn't take much, they just needed to shove it a little more out of the way to be able to get in.

Makali pushed too, glad that the rock was giving way a bit. He stopped when he thought both he and Choku could fit through. (Choku was, after all, a bit bigger than Mak because of their age difference.) "That should do it, whattdaya see in there, Runty? He asked, peeking his head down into the gap before pulling it out again and making way for Choku to go in. "Age before beauty," he offered in a joking way with a little bow.

"Ladies before age, " Chokuto retorted playfully, liting a paw and waving it towards the gap to indicate Makali went first. Not that he minded going first, but now if he went.. he'd be a lady. Besides, Makali had been the one to find the tunnel.

"I see.. HEY, its black. " Wingu rolled her eyes, how was she supposed to see anything? Well.. Best use those whiskers right about now. The juvenile continued forward, testing her steps just in case of a hole and keeping her whiskers brushing against the wall, just in case a tunnell veered off.

"I think its getting wider. "

Makali pulled up from his little bow. Ladies before age he mouthed, tilting his head from side to side with each word, a mocking expression on his face. He promptly proceeded in and he was met with the same sight that Wingu had been- complete and utter blackness beyond what the light touched. Even with a lion's good night vision, this was... dark. "I see." He said simply to Wingu before turning back to the entrance. "You comin' old man?" he called with a snicker. Mak took to the same strategy that Wingu had, using his whiskers to skim the cave's wall.

"You're right, it is getting wider..." He was sure that, with time, they could learn and memorize the shape of the place. "I wonder how we can get more light in here..." He said just before he bumped into Wingu and ended up tripping himself rather clumsily.

"OOPS, sorry, " Chokuto bumped into Makali rather roughly in retaliation, always up for a bit of roughhousing, even when they were blindly walking in the dark.

[clor=slategray]"Calm down back there! " Wingu snorted. They were prolly aaall happy there in the back with ehr test running everything! However, she was just mostlyinterested in not getting distracted. See, she was hearing a certail dripping sounds. And now she was seeing a light.

"That light's getting bigger, " she commented, walking more towards it. She walked around the light first, allowing her eyes to adjust. The light was comming froma hole in the "ceiling", and at perhaps noon it could create a patch large enough for an adult to curl up in. Now, however, it was rather small. And getting smaller. "At least we have light! "

Not only was there light, but the are seemed nice and wide, wide enough for Chokuto to pass Makali and walk around a bit. "Cool, I bet its hard to find. " He smiled, nosing around a bit. t was a bit like a cave.. perhaps a little tight, but certainly there could be more to it! Right now, with the tiny amount of light he simply couldn't see that well.

"You bet you're sorry!" Makali said playfully back to Choku, giving him a rough nudge. He didn't want to be too rough in the darkness, but the strength of the nudge he just gave was hardly enough to be a problem.

The teen padded towards the last location of Wingu's voice when she mentioned light, and she was right, there was some coming from the ceiling. "I'll bet in the daytime, that hole's big enough to let in enough light to light this entire cavern up. And I'll bet when it's brighter... there have to be some cracks in the walls to let light in from out in the gorge. "This place is great..." He said, gaze shifting from this to that about the cave. "You guys think we should keep meandering around this place or should we wait til tomorrow, when there's more light?" He asked as he looked around some more, only taking a few steps one way, then in another.
