though how do you stop your cursor from going off the game window when you are shooting? I can't see it most of the time until it is too late!

Just be patient.
Don't move it too much.

It's gonna wooble, but it'll go back to where it was.

wooble, wobble, wooogle... lol.

So just keep you cursor steady. Visualize where you want it to go and only move it that far.
And a quick trigger finger never hurts.
