The silent child

Rage heard the sobs. He was an insomiac. He always had been. He came to her room blocking the door with his frame. He quietly still a shadow came to sit on her bed. Rage sat on her bed. He cupped her chin and put his cheek against hers. He held her just like willing the pain to go away. He knew that pain, he knew it well. It was the pain of a person who was tortured day in and day out, hour by hour, second by second by what they have done. It was pain that could not ever end but could be healed. It was pain no one should experince. He held her tighter his cheek against her soft cheek, her chin in his hand and her sobs falling on his shirt. It was then he knew that he was more than just a freind something more what that was he didn't know.

she pressed her face into his shoulder, her arms around him, clenching his shirt in her hands. It only lasted for a minute. Until she was able to get her tears under control. When she looked at him she was apologetic, her eyes showed her pain, her exhaustion, but not only that her will, her strength to face each day, as he did. she smiled sadly and released his shirt with a nervous laugh. Her shadow had come to her in her moment of need. She thought again and smiled to herself sniffing as she watched him.

Rage nodded. His body was on fire. His veins white hot. She had held him so close so near with such passion. It was unreal untrue. Like nothing he had ever felt. He traced her cheek softly and then he left. He lay in his bed and relaxed. He let the pleasure of her holding him wash over him. He kept it somewhere safe in his brain, the feeling. He used to have dreams like that. Until he realized it would never bring them back. So it stopped. He closed his eyes and fell asleep.

Yuki did not go back to sleep. It was just before dawn. She could feel it spreading along her spin to the base of her neck, moving through her hair to heat the chaotic strands. Or was that where Rage had touched? She dressed slowly, contemplating and after she was done she made the bed and finished her homework. Yuki laid back when she was finished and put her headphones on watching the sun move through her window to the sound of soft piano music.

Rage got dressed. He wore a t-shirt that clung to his rock hard body and a light hoodie and jeans. He knocked softly on her door. He was in the frame of it again. He wasn't just a shadow anymore. He was just a hollow boy. Slowly bit by bit second by second her smiles and her existience in his life were filling him up. Like an hourglass he would soon be filled except this time it wouldn't be time ending but rather time begining, time with her. He grinned at her. He held up a piece of paper. It said. "Whatcha want for breakfast?"

Yuki watched out the window, her eyes focusing on something far away, in a different time even and as he came into view her eyes focused on him and where a piercing baby blue against her silver hair and she smiled warmly at him. Taking off her head phones she set them on the nightstand and walked to him reading his note and shrugged. She seemed happy today. Exited energy poored from her as she walked past him she kissed him on the cheek and whispered thank you in his hear. Her voice like a birds song playing on the lightest breeze in summer. She smiled and waited for him and cheeks flushing a little.

Rage felt that little kiss all through his body. It sent fire throught his veins. He was redder than red. He voice like a whisper in his hear sent shivers down his spine. He didn't know what he was doing. He was just doing. No thought just action. He slipped an arm around her waist and pulled her close. He looked deep into her eyes. There was warmth and happiness and hints of desire. He smiled at her his eyes twinkling. He cocked his head holding her hand and brought her downstairs. He smiled as they did and made some pancakes.

Yuki smiled. The quick pull from ever living cell in her body yerned, danced with the flame he egnited in her. She saw the happiness and warmth in his eyes and knew the desire well. The same desire that pulsed rapidly inside her. She held his hand. Her skin was warm in his but his was warmer still. She liked it when he smiled. when he cocked his head like that. When he made her feel. She had never liked it before. Despised any emotion or desire that had swam through her, now she lived on it. Thrived off of it's steady beat. As they made pancakes together she caugter herself licking her lips, catching the sweet taste of something foreign to her. Something that sent her heart into another race and had her face flushing when she looked at Rage and knew it was his taste.

Rage was grining from ear to ear. She made him so happy. They were finished with the pancakes quick enough. He sat down and after getting the syrup began to eat. He smiled at her the whole time. She was beautiful and amazing and he had only began to know her. He ate slowly in the way a person used to eating alone eats when someone else is around. He was selfconcious.

It had been three weeks since she had moved in with Rage. Her father still came to the school to try to drag her back home but she was always able to narrowly avoid him and questioning eyes. It was Rages birthday and she hadn't know what to get him. She fidgetted with the present. A think novel like book bound in leather like material. she wrapped it carefully, running her fingers alont the spin as she did. The wrapping was a range of blues from baby blue to the darkest blue that almost looked black and had in big letters happy birthday! on it. She held the wrapt present in her hand and turned it over again and again. She felt foolish, not even knowing if he would like it. She took a deep breath and exhailed slowly. what was she thinking getting him a journal. But it was too late now. The timer dinged and she ran down the stairs into the kitchen to pull the vanilla cake out of the oven. Did he even like vanilla. He was upstairs doing his homework where she had shooed him right after they got home from school. Dinner was spagetti with a white alfredo sause and salads. she set the table and hid the cake after lathering it with sweet rasberry frosting and hid it in the cooled oven where he wouldn't find it until later. She went up and tapped on his room pushing it open slowly. "Rage? It's dinner time." she smiled at him her heart racing with nerves as she held his gift behind her back.

Rage looked up at the knock. His eyes fell on the calendar. It was his birthday but that meant nothing to him. It was just the day he was born. He had no memories of happy birthdays, presents or cake. Just lonliness. He opened the door and smiled at her. He touched her arm. It was his way of saying hi. He still hadn't talked. He was still shy around her. But he was getting better. He nodded and took her hand as they went downstairs. He wasn't sure why he always did that. He just loved the feeling of her skin against his, her hand in his. It was amazing. He rubbed her hand with his thumb. He looked at the food and his eyes opened in surprise. "Lots of food." He wrote on the paper. He smiled from ear to ear. He added to the paper. "Thank you."

She smiled and waited until he had seated. She hugged him from behind, resting her chin on his shoulder her lips brushing his cheek as she held the package in front of his. "I really hope you like it. If you don't I can always take it back and we can go out together and get you something you do like." she gave him a gental squeeze and placed the pakage carefully in his hands. "Happy Birthday." she let go and sat down on the other side of the table to watch him. She had his green tea in front of him as well and sipped on hers ignoring the burn that the scolding liquid scent along her tunge.

Rage was red. He closed his eyes in bliss when her lips brushed his cheek. She was so sweet. And now he was certain of it. There was something between them. A connection. They belonged together he didn't know if it was as a couple yet but they did belong. He was soo happy right now. God she could set him on fire. He smiled at her from across the table. He opened it carefully, precisely. He looked at it. He opened it. He nodded and reached over to kiss her hand to show his gratitude. It seemed natural easy. He looked into her eyes and he saw it. She felt the same. And he opened his mouth but nothing came out. He opened his mouth again and something came out to soft to hear. Finally he got something out. His voice was a rich sound, soft like velvet, enticing as choclate and deep. "I love you Yuki." He said. He looked confused as if his voice was attached to him. He shook his head and then looked at her. "I love you." He said again.

The message was writen on the inside cover and she was about to show him when she fummbled hearing his voice. He had spoken, To her, for her. God with just his voice he could send fires along her skin and racing through her veins. She rose slowly crossing to him tears in her eyes. His voice was beautiful. Like velvet and he had shared it with her. her hands were shaking slightly as she took his hands and looked into his eyes. "what?" she whispered praying that she had not imagined it.

Rage stroked her hand. He smiled at her tears in his eyes as well. He tried to wipe hers away. It was hard because he couldn't see either. Finally he gave it up. He looked deep into her eyes. "I love you." He said. He found he liked his voice. He enjoyed it. He hadn't heard it in so long. "I love you, I love you, I love you." He said looking straight into her. He reached out and cupped her chin. He looked at her happily and cocked his head. He knew what he wanted. He wanted to kiss her fully and passionately. Was she ready for that? Was he? He didn't know but here it came. His lips reached for hers hoping they were there.
