So that's why my friends like Wikipedia...

Wikipedia is so damn smart!

But that's only looking at the negative points. Darn you, Wikipedia, and your pessimistic, nostalgic views on life! ;P

I think it's not as much pessimistic, as factual. Rather than show a bit of good, a bit of bad, they just lay it all (well, except for the good guilds, which they obviously didn't delve into) out quite bluntly.

I hate when something I like is forced to fit one general description. I find that Gaia is much more and much less than what the description said. Not everyon on Gaia is a total n00b. Quite a few Gaians don't even RolePlay.

Interestingly enough, we all live in some form of symbiotic harmony.

The first bit I agree with up to the point where they start stating all the typical topics. This person has obviously only gone in some of the forums such as the chatterbox, and has never entered ED for longer than 5 minutes. And has done a very much stereotyped opinion.

I think they have come onto Gaia for a day and then wrote this article.

Well, that much is obvious. I have seen a couple of bad ED discussions before though... The guilds are so far the best places I've seen. I'd add RPs too, but it's rough finding a good one...

That's like saying that all black people are niggers because of a few publicised examples.

Well my opinion of Gaia is simple. It is a forum for anime fans...what is not to like about it? At first the members of Gaia weren't very warm to me, but after they got used to me they started to be a lot more nice to me. Gaia itself is a good site, but still could use a few changes. Every site isn't perfect though. Well actually no site is perfect, but that is just they way things are. By the way this is my first post within the Guild. So hello everyone it is nice to meet you all.

It started as a forum for anime fans. I, for one, don't care for anime one way or the other. I know a lot of people here are the same way or even antagonistic to it.

The only forum I go on is the Gaming one. All it is is damn "Official topics" I don't post in those. And I only post in the Super Smash Bros. Sticky.

No it's not.

Anyone can edit it, but most articles do cite sources.

They are obsessed with pixel items and gaining Gaian gold.
Many have poor grammar and even worse spelling, tending to use internet slang/net speak (aside from the Grammar Nazis, who will attack anyone with incorrect grammar) [based on the fact that most of the users frequent the Chatterbox: a spamming forum].
They are prone to starting flame wars.
They will excessively use the provided graphical emoticons.

Typical Posts

In Gaia Online, there are many different forums and sub-forums. Each of these may have a slightly different subculture - in that they may all use common slang / jokes that usually only the regular members of that particular forum would understand. They may also share similar annoyances - such as topics created:
Asking for a boyfriend or girlfriend (normally referred to as BF/GF)
Asking for a friend (Acceptable in the Friends Chat forum.)
Asking a question which has been answered many times, and is included in a sticky at the top of the forum
Asking for Neopets points
Asking for charity (This is acceptable in the Charity forum)
Asking for pornography (This may be more common then most users are aware, but these topics are often deleted quickly)
Asking to "cyber" with someone (though such may be considered an offense, seeing actual solliciting for such is illegal on the site)

The above is a description of Gaians from wikipedia. Agree, disagree, state your reasoning, and wonder how it came to be that Gaia was looked at in this way by outsiders.

Just live it down. Gaia may not be perfect for grammar but there are millions of anime fans for those who need friends. Gaia is awesome to me.

I only agree to some of it, but the fact is, I hate the way Wikipedia is saying this, it sounds a bit rude, unless of course, they have something else on there, but yes, beggars, asking for gold, and asking for a friend is obviously correct. I'm seeing those all the time. About the internet slang/net speak, I half agree with it. Even I am itching to make a face.
