As Maria produced the green bags, Elian quickly moved to go through them, just as Lyon had. Her face also lit up at the discovery of her journal, books, and all of the other things she feared would be lost to her. Sighing a large sigh of relief, she glanced over to Lyon, noticing his lit up expression as he tuned his violin.

"Yes, everything's here." Elian said quietly before looking back up to Maria. Standing, she carefully slung the bag over her shoulder, brushing a few strands of messy hair from her face before nodding. "Alright Maria. I guess we'll follow. Anywhere you take us has to be better than here." Elian said with a smile, glancing over to Lyon to make sure that he agreed.

Gwen carefully accepted the rifle and peered through the scope, then glanced at Cindy with wide eyes. "You... want me to fire it? Right now?" She knew it made sense, but...

Lyon watched as the girl opened up her bag as well. She seemed to light up and automatically Lyon knew that everything was there for her. He smiled at her, happy to see that she too got her possessions back. Each person had something they needed, for Lyon it was his violin, and he was sure that for Elian it was her journal and books. He couldn't say he knew for sure why it was all that important to her, but he respected it. After all, who knew why he loved his violin so much as well?

He gave her a nod when she told him that everything was there. He was happy to hear that she wasn't missing anything. As she spoke up to Maria he couldn't help but to find himself agreeing to the girl. Seeing her glance at him just showed that she wanted to make sure that he was alright with the decision.

He let out a soft smile before looking back to Maria. "Yes," he said in his soft voice, "I agree. Let's go..."

Because the Wreck didn't have much in the way of a neck, Smith had a hard time gripping it. Instead, he latched onto the pipes.
The Wreck began to twist wildly in an attempt to through Smith off. Because of the struggling, Smith had no chance to free up his right to fire.

As the Wreck twisted around, Orion and Jack had found their opening and fired. Three of Jack's burst and only one of Orion's had hit their mark.
Jack's burst caused sparks to fly from the Wreck's leg and Orion's bullet seemed to have crushed a gear, it would seem.

The Wreck managed to throw Smith off. It glared at Jack and Orion, picked up a large rock with both hands, and chucked it at the two. Without waiting to see the result of it's attack, it turned it's attention back to Smith and began to limp towards him, raising Smith's hammer to strike down.

*

Cindy nodded slowly, "You don't have to fire at an actual soldier right now if you don't want to, just get used to the feel."
She gently adjusted Gwen's arm position.

*

Maria smiled, "O! 'At's goo' ta 'ere, I'm so glad I was a'le ta ge' ewe ta 'elp, I rea'y appr'cia' et, I do!"
She held out her hands again, "Come, no', take me 'and en close ewer eyes, we'll be outta 'ere en no tim', 'is ain't no place fer som'on' as ewerself ta be! Too dang'rous. Imma ta' us somewhe' safa, I am."

She waited for them to take her hand and comply with her request. Once they had closed their eyes, the two suddenly felt lighter and the air began less thick and cleaner.

When the two opened their eyes, they were back at the Driskoll Manor with Maria, who released their hands.

"'Ell, no'. 'At wasn' so ba', no' was et?"

Gwen thought about that, then shook her head. "No sense in wasting ammunition," she replied quietly. Carefully, she took off the safety, peered through the scope, and lined up a shot. She aimed for the closest of the soldiers, so that she'd have a better chance of hitting it. Then, just as Cindy had instructed, she squeezed the trigger. Before she'd registered whether or not the bullet had connected, she was carefully pulling back the bolt to load another shot.

Unfortunately for the Wreck, Smith was up and now the ROUS was drawn. He was backpedaling, aiming for the thing's 'mouth' again, and he fired three times for the other pipe - it had to do SOMEthing.

(Please move your posts to the Empyrea thread, Angilis and Darkened_Sword)

Gwen, being the new shot she was, missed her mark, though not by much.

Cindy offered words of encouragement and urged her to try gain.

*

The Wreck dropped Smith's hammer to shield it's face from the shots. Smith's bullets struck the Wreck's forearms, causing large dents and puncturing a hole or two in the perforated metal.

The Wreck limped close to Smith, waiting for a chance to try to pounce. It's movements were becoming ever-so-slightly sluggish.

*

Smith's man had led The others, Juliet, and Alastair to the
rear of the factory. It seemed relatively unguarded. No enemy soldiers were
visible and a large garage door could be seen.

Gwen carefully lined up another shot and did exactly that, her normally soft grey eyes narrowed in concentration.

This time, Gwen managed to hit a soldier in the chest, killing him.

"Good shot!" Cindy complimented, "With practice, you'll become as good as us!"

Gwen wasn't sure that she liked the idea of that; she was a high school student, not a soldier. Still, she knew it had been intended as a reassuring complement, and decided to take it as such. "Thank you," she replied politely.

The group behind the factory quickly got to work, opening the garage door cautiously entered.
It was dark inside, they had to be careful. Common sense told them that they were in a garage.

The Wreck moved to pin Smith's shoulder with one arm while cocking the right arm back for a punch.

*

"Wanna give it another try?" Cindy asked, "You don't have to if you don't wanna, but it's practice."

Gwen glanced at her, then nodded. Honestly, she probably needed all the practice she could get. Carefully, she pulled back the bolt, lined up a shot, and squeezed the trigger again.

Juliet held up a hand. "Stop, I've got..." she pulled the flashlight off her belt, turned it on, and pointed it inward. Those soldiers who had them followed the example, and Juliet took point, holding the flashlight against the shield on the underside of the SMG's barrel.

---

Smith dodged away, firing again and again until the gun emptied, trying to circle around the Wreck and get his hammer back.

Gwen landed a shot in the Medic's shoulder, just barely missing his heart. The medic fell to the ground, gripping his fresh wound.
Without missing a beat, the Medic crawled behind cover and got to work on fixing himself up.

*

The room immediately lit up with flashlights as everyone scanned the room.

The Garage was rather vacant, if not cluttered.
The floor of the Garage was concrete, cracking from a combination of old age and the stress of tons of debris resting upon the ground for countless days. Along the center of the garage ran a line of square, cracked concrete pillars with each face measuring about three feet across. The central pillar had a large chunk missing from it, the debris now resting at it's base.

There was a door on the opposite side of the Garage.

Rubble, debris, junk, and scrap metal rested upon the floor in scattered piles of varying sizes, the largest rested in the corners of the garage. The central ground of the garage was relatively open.

There was a single, inert Wreck, Model H, standing in the rear-left corner of the garage amongst a pile of scrap metal.

As their flashlights illuminated the room, two or three silhouettes were seen disappearing behind the pillars.

*

The Wreck followed through with it's punch, striking the ground and burying it's fist. It pivoted and tore it's hand out of the ground and threw a large chunk of earth at Smith in an attempt to block the gunfire.

Smith's first shot missed, his second struck the Wreck's chasis, denting it. The other two shots were lost in the thrown earth.

Smith managed to get within reach of his hammer.

Gwen swallowed. Shooting soldiers was one thing, but she didn't really think that she could shoot a medic... "Cindy...?" she murmured quietly, her rifle still trained on the pair.
