...maybe i should be a trekkie...
Star Trek isn't something that you can easily get into. You've gotta have dedication, have a sense of humor, and love sci-fi. Not to mention some things being a bit over-dramatic and cheesy lines and special effects.

This is the truth. My dad loves Star Trek (always has, he's watched every episode several times), and I quite enjoy it myself, but my two sisters very much dislike it.

The special effects are extremely out dated (which is understandable considering its date), but some people just can't handle it. In fact, during the starting credits and such, the U.S.S. Enterprise that flies by the screen is actually a model on strings being 'flown' in front of the camera multiple times. It is not uncommon to see a string holding something up, or a person in the background whom did not know he was on camera. Many things are very over dramatic, and the transporter is always broken . . . Scotty really needs to step it up a notch . . .

But Scotty always pulls through in the nick of time! He earns his pay for the week, Captain Kirk has said so. ;3

As for the special effects. Oh yeah, they're really out-dated, and the phasers always will make me laugh (makes me appreciate the nuTrek movie even more), but they did remaster the series in 2008, so they're not AS bad anymore. The costumes and make-up though... does leave a little to be desired, though... but damn, I do really love it. biggrin

PS. Happy belated Kirk/Spock Day everyone!
