The_Pathan I haven't read, but people say it is not allowed. Only songs about Allah(nasheeds) I just asked my father to be 100% sure and he agreed to this. He also said that in the hereafter those who listened to music that had nothing to do with Allah(anasheeds) they will have what feels like melted metal on their heads (like a cap) just imagine a piece of hell fire on ur head. I just found this out by my father and I've made up my mind, I'm no longer listening to music that's not anasheed. I always listen to music as I stated in another thread, and after hearing this Im certain I will never do so again. I mainly listen when Im on the bus or doing work, but not anymore.

So basically you just listend to something someone told you, which has no support in scripture or hadith, but because it sounds scary and it was your dad you automatically believed it. Without doing any research personally into the matter. Awesome?

Drums are halal, and singing is halal, and hearing music is halal smile
As long as it is only voice and drum, if it is not, it is haram.

Allah rewards those who do their best to serve Him. If you don't listen, you will be rewarded. It's not your fault if it's playing around you (you could leave if possible, if not then He understands as long as you try your best). He knows all.

I went to Eastzone, a gathering of many Muslim kids and scholars alike.
The man that spoke was a splendid scholar and spoke very easily to us, he could relate to us, and gave us good advice.
He told me simply, any action you take, think: "Will it bring you closer to Allah, or further away?"
Is a knife haram? If I stab you in the face, is it halal? If I cut bread for one less fortunate than I, is it haram? Think about it.
Is Facebook haram. If I use it to speak to my family back in Pakistan, what then. What if I use to flirt with some girl, what then...
Think. About. It. <3
If I use music to grind up on a girl (Nauzubillah.)... then I'm pretty sure it's pushing me away.
If I listen to the Fray, and a song of theirs like... hmm. "How to Save a Life.", while doing Calculus, I'm pretty sure Allah wouldn't hate me. I try to use logic, Allah is merciful my friends.
I will try to listen to Nasheed, and I don't listen to most rap because they generally stand behind wrong morals.

Earning mnoey from ur voice = haram and Music must be with only drum, and voice. No instrument.

The reason instruments are forbidden are because Allah forbade them; some wisdom behind that may be because they are addictive. In the US, I see it everywhere...people saying that they would die without music because they are so obsessed. It changes the mood of the heart indeed. I do my best not to listen.
