It's quite a bit different from English numbers, so I can understand your difficulties.

Think of a number like this:

TENS + ONES

ex) 63 is six tens + three ones.

Now when you rtanslate into Japanese, it' the same idea.

63

6 tens and 3 ones

6 = roku

10 = jyuu

3 = san

roku jyuu AND san

roku jyuu san

You write "ji" with a half-sized "yu", followed by another "u".

じゅう

It's a little hard to tell in this font, but the "yu" character is smaller than the other two. If you just type in "jyuu" when in hiragana mode, it should do that automatically.
