I followed C.C.G. here!
I want to play the Head Hunter! Username: Lirende Prompt Response: He watched the younger males recite their greatest kills with pride, each over dramatizing every move their prey had done before they'd fallen it. He couldn't help the slow smirk that spread across his muzzle as he listened to them, mentally adding in the faults that they were all purposefully leaving out. Koa knew each and every story because he had been there for all of them. But who was he to call them out? No, he would simply blow them all away when it came to be his turn. For Koa was the Head Hunter, he whom had taken down a ghost in the water. Not that he would brag about it. Bragging was for those who were not secure in their abilities, unlike Koa, who knew he was good.
His tail flicked lazily behind him as he lay quietly listening as the last story before his turn wound down. It had been a good one, the tale spinner still sporting the wounds that the beast had given him. The younger male wore them well, badges of pride that would last until his flesh knitted back together under the scabs and salve. He shook the images of fleeing prey and a beautiful dance of death out of his mind as all eyes turned to him. It was his turn now, and with his story would be the end of the hunting tales. "I do not know if my tale will stand up to the rest," Koa started, gracefully rising to his paws, "But I will do my best to meet the standard that our young males have laid down." He took his place in the center of the gathering, his voice pitched low but clearly heard over the silence.
"There is a reason why we've told you all to stay away from the deeper waters, to stay within sight while playing in the river. It is not the crocodiles that we warn you of, but the ghosts in the river. The ones who will snap a carefree cub up without warning and let them drown, leaving their bodies to feed the scavengers." Koa continued sitting down, his tail curled around his paws. "The Hippopotamus, the Rhino of the water." His orange eyes slid from one pride member to the next, gauging them. "It was a bull caught out of the water near dusk, the first of many to leave the waters that night. It roamed the grasses while we prowled in the shadows, watching, wary, waiting. We knew it would be foolhardy to hunt with such a beast around and ventured to leave it be. It was easy to slink away, the Hippo oblivious to us until CRACK!" Koa sprang up on the last word, looking for all intents like he'd been startled by his own sound effect. "A lion had stepped on a brittle bone, snapping it and alerting the Hippo to us! We scattered as the beast charged where the sound was and nearly ran the us over. I'd never seen such a large animal move as fast as it did that night. But I couldn't let any on my hunt get hurt, so I did the only thing that I could do; I pounced on the beast and hauled myself up its back and dug my claws in."
Koa pounced on the air and sank his claws into the dirt, half crouching as if he were on the back of some large prey. "The Hippo cried out in pain, distracted, and tried to make it back to the safety of the water. I would have been an easy kill if it made it, and so I bit down on the hide between my paws and chewed for all I could. If I could injure it further it wouldn't make it and we would be safe. It tried many times to shake me loose but I was too strong for it. My Totem helped me greatly that battle, for without my protector, I would not have found the strength behind my jaws that let me brake the Hippos back and crush it's throat."
Do you understand the IC responsibilities you might have if you win?: Yup. It'll be fun playing him if I win.

I want that Blank Slate boy!!!
I want to play the Head Hunter! Username: Cajanic Prompt Response: Watching as the others gathers round, their eyes brimming with eager anticipation, Koa could only think one thing: He really should have prepared something to say to these lions. Of course he had been told that his responsibility was to describe his greatest hunting accomplishment, but he had shoved the work aside. How hard could it be to come up with a story that praised his own awesome-ness? After all: he was generally the most amazing hunter around. Everyone already knew that. With that in mind, he thought it would be simple to come up with a tale on the spot, letting the others see the glory that was his skill.
Chumo had warned him that it wouldn’t be so easy, but he had paid his friend no mind. The guy was just terrible at speaking, right? Thinking he needed to prepare to say something about himself.
Heh. Should have listened.
Now that he was there, eyes upon him, Koa found he couldn’t think of a damn thing to say. No brilliant stories radiated through his brain, no elegant words spraying from his mouth like a cool mist. Where was the auto-story he had been hoping for? How could someone with so many accomplishments suddenly have nothing to say? His totem could offer him no help now, aside from the courage he needed to give a completely on-the-spot speech. But it wasn’t courage he needed- it was words. Nice words. Words that formed coherent sentences. Words that helped him escape the very simple fact that Chumo had proven himself right yet again. Honestly, why did he think it was a good idea to ignore his good friend?
“Well… nice to see ya,” he offered to the crowd, who met the rather casual greeting with a strange mix bewilderment and indifference. Some already had that ‘oh great, this is going to suck’ expression plastered over their furry faces. Not something the already boned Koa wanted to see. Yes, he knew he was going to make a fool of himself- did they have to rub it in?
Clearing his throat, he let his eyes fall to the floor, a claw playing in the dirt idly while his mind churned. Something epic. Something amazing. That time with the giraffe? No, he’d almost broken his own neck going after that guy’s. The time with the hippo? No… he’d almost drowned. The zebra? Now that had been impressive, but was it good enough?
“I find myself in a predicament,” he heard himself saying while his mind continued to sift through his memories, “I have so many amazing stories, I don’t really know where to begin.” The groan he heard through the crowd suggested he needed a different angle to woo them.
“Uh, but, you know, this isn’t about how amazing I am in general- it’s about my greatest hunting achievement. Listening to all your stories, I think I’ve finally come to realize what that really is,” what was he saying? He didn’t have a damn clue what his best moment was, “it’s you guys- helping teach you guys how to properly hunt, making sure everything goes to plan and we come back with all the meat our families could need- that’s what’s my greatest accomplishment. I don’t think I could ask for anything more then to see you all shining with your amazing stories. It’s totally awesome, right? I mean- you’re learning from the best around! So of course you’re all getting pretty great as well.”
The smile he wore was genuine, his eyes lifting again to meet the others. They seemed swayed enough, smiling right back at him. HA. He knew he could do it all along.
One more accomplish to not brag about when the right moment presented itself.
“So… I don’t really have a story to offer. Not in the traditional sense. My story, is your stories. Your successes. So why don’t you guys continue my tale for me? Let’s hear some more of your accomplishments!”
Did anyone know he hadn’t come prepared? Eh- he was too amazing to look like a spaz. Surely no one had noticed a thing.
Sweet.
Do you understand the IC responsibilities you might have if you win?: Sure! I can dig it.
(Forgive me if you're not allowed to enter for more than one. xD ))
