Oh, good! He had showed up again. "I did! Thanks," She said, because Aluka had been raised with some manners, though she didn't always care to use them, particularly with the Stormborn. Kree was a nice little bird, though, and more deserving of being well treated. Especially if they wanted him to be doing them favors.
"Thanks to your suggestion, we're working on a 'blood sacrifice' to lure the sea monster – I mean big fish, over." She explained. "We're going to try to get a container and put some blood in it. What I wanna ask, if it's not too heavy," She had no idea how much extra weight it took to make flight impossible for the gull. "Do you think you could carry it further out to sea and drop it? We want the big fish to be able to smell the blood, but if we just drop the water here we don't think it will. If any of your gull friends would help, that'd also be great." But she couldn't go promising a shark meal for every gull, sadly. As much as Aluka could guarantee she'd snatch enough meat to keep one or two birds happy, she couldn't count on the other lions being as kind, especially since she had no idea how big the monster would be, or how hungry her companions were for its meat.

Munyu stopped, looking back as his ears folded back. Oh, would they make up their MINDS? He climbed right back down, thankful he hadn't gotten too terribly far. As he got close to Ru, he cleared his throat. "What do you mean by... Her work...? About the Priestesshood...? I know she's not proven to be a false Seer..." He didn't bother to elaborate on that. "Mother's sheltered me a bit, I'm afraid... I had to sneak out to join this band, and I'm in my mane now...." He let out a puff of air. "She did tell me I'M a Seer, and tried training me a bit... But I'm afraid my visions, if that's what they are, are of no use to you." They hardly seemed a use to himself.

"I had no idea you were a seer. This isn't about that."
Ru had been taken aback momentarily by Munyu's sudden talk of seers. It was true, of course, that a normal viking would have had a foretelling cast before it set out, but that was not something it had occurred to Ru to miss. His interest in what Munyu's mother did was far more practical. Of course it would have been convenient to have a seer along who could simply point the band in the right direction, but evidently Munyu wasn't one of those.
"It's more about the priestesshood. Do you know much about their rituals? I believe we would have more success with this blood thing if we could emulate the Stormborn summoning rites."
Ru had never been present at any priestess's attempt to summon the gods or spirits and so he had absolutely no knowledge of how such a thing might go. He could only guess, and guessing wasn't certain enough for him.

"Oh... No, I'm afraid I don't, then..." Munyu let out a huff. Every time his mother had done anything relating to her job, Uncle Yu would watch him. As he got too old for simple 'cubsitting,' this turned into 'take him hunting' forays... That were usually after small things, even as he got much too large for rabbits. He rubbed the back of his neck through his dark mane, then looked to the water. Maybe this tactic wasn't quite working... "I think I'll dig in the sand a little... Maybe I'll find a tooth and we can proclaim it our prize." He started shoveling with one large paw, only to have it collapse back into the hole. "Or not..."

The male squirrel watched as the big cat turned and left, and the rock he'd thrown completely missed, falling harmlessly to the base of the cliff and rolling a short way onto the sand. He was so mad he began to dance around, throwing dirt and pulling his headfur out in clumps. All that effort, for nothing! At least the nasty predator wasn't climbing the cliff anymore, though, so he supposed there was some benefit. However, the lions did not entirely leave, but seemed to be doing further plotting. He bared his sharp little teeth aggressively, trying to think of how to drive them away. Perhaps the female had a point. Bring the bitey fish, and the lions would learn better than to mess with the ocean! He bobbed his head at her and placed his head directly next to hers. Much squeaky whispering ensued, with many eager or agitated tail twitches. Those squirrels were up to something!

"That's okay," Ru said. "It was a long shot. They're pretty secretive about most of their rituals."
He looked for a moment at Munyu's aborted digging attempt and shook his head. If he thought they could pass of any old tooth as a sea monster's tooth, he would have been tempted to try it, or if he didn't think sea monsters existed, but Halvdan claimed to have seen one, and to Ru that meant that this task was achievable. It would just take ingenuity and persistence, followed by skill in battle.
"Instead of digging, you can see if there's any way those squirrels can be helpful. Preferably some way that doesn't involve flinging rocks and pebbles at us." In an undertone he added, "Of course, if you can't do that, you're welcome to maim them or something. They are supremely annoying."
Now Ru would have to come up with some sort of summoning ritual on his own, and he knew he would feel like a moron explaining it to his band no matter what. If Munyu had been able to contribute even a little, so that his made-up ritual could've been derivative, rather than pure imagination, that would have helped. It was a shame Munyu hadn't been able to help with the ritual aspect of things.

The squirrels were definitely up to no good. Quick as a wink, the two disappeared from the lion's sight, and scurried out to the edge of the cliff that jutted quite a ways out into the ocean. They were actually beyond their official territory, but it was time for drastic measures. They scampered nimbly down the cliff face, the waves crashing below them and making the rock slick in places. They completely ignored the water, though. No, their goal was closer, high enough up the cliff to be safe from the waves.
Nestled within the nooks and crannies of the rocky cliff were the homes and nests of the seagulls. Now, the squirrels and gulls might share nearly the same space, but they did not get along. The brilliant idea the big male had had was dual-purposed. With the gulls circling high overhead, focused on the band of cats, the squirrels had free rein in the nests, and made good use of that time. Gleefully they began to hurl the eggs into the water, or against the rocks half-submerged in the seawater. Not all the eggs were fresh-laid. In fact, some were nearly ready to hatch. The carnage, while small in size, was horrific in casualties. Bits of shell and small, limp bodies floated gruesomely in the water.
There. The bitey fish would surely come now, and chase away (or eat!) these great mangy predators! The squirrels kept flinging eggs as long as they possibly could, darting the now furious attention of the local gulls.

Munyu could only shrug. "Sorry, she always had Uncle Yu take me somewhere else when she did priestess stuff..." Now he wished she hadn't. The white lion then turned, watching the squirrels. A frown spread across his face. "Call me wary, but... I don't think I want to face angry seagulls." What were those stupid little rats doing, anyway? "I get this feeling that one good peck and they'll find out soon enough why to NOT mess with gulls..."Something else dropped out of the sky, moving past all the gulls and pecking at the tiny bodies in the surf. At first glance, it would almost seem like another gull, but it was far too large in not only body but wing as well. Landing on the shore with one, the bird tossed the now-drowned gull chick up, before swallowing it down. It looked around for a moment, then at the lions. Its feathers ruffled up a moment, before it went hopping over. "Lions throwing rocks at water, what make lions do weird thing?" Nondo was, if anything, lazy about joining her fellow vulture off somewhere else to pick at a carcass on the grasslands. The true bounty was here at the sea, where things washed up after storms. It made for harder-to-find pickings, but it still made for a good meal none the less. The salty taste was wonderful, she found. "Lions might draw BIG fish with so much noise, like dying furry flipper butt!"

"Blood is good, tasty, bring it out with luck." He agreed with a quick bob of his head. He ran his orange beak through his white and gray feathers as he listened to her. Something about a blood container, which made sense. If they could draw it out deeper, the waves would carry it and the beast would smell it and hopefully come in closer to the shore to find the source and a bit of a lunch. The edges of his beak curved slightly downward at the thought. Gulls weren't the largest or strongest birds and it might take a few of them, this he knew. He'd have to coerce a few of his feathery friends to lend a claw, but he might be able to. Some were gathering merely to watch the bizzarre spectacle.
"Can try, can try, need enough wing power. How heavy is container? If too heavy, might not be able, but if light enou---"
He gave an alarmed caw and flared his wings. At first, it seemed as though he would take flight, but he thought better of it and hid behind the lioness. There was a predator here... Okay, there was a lot of predators here, but now there was a flighted one and he certainly felt uneasy. It ate a gull chick, which gulls were guilty of doing to other birds now and again. He was uneasy to go back into the air. He clacked and ground his beak uneasily.
"Big bird hunt gulls." He stated in a matter of fact tone as he studied the brightly coloured predator."Might attack us if we go out."

Unbeknownst to the lions and various other creatures that dotted the beach, their strange attempts at summoning a 'sea monster' had actually worked. The blood in the water had been what had done it, but unfortunately for the lions, something else had intervened.
Not too far from the beach, a meeting was taking place under the waves. Two incredibly large sharks, with black beady eyes and rows of jagged teeth, were being told off by a much larger creature. A creature who was less than amused by the mortals attempts to lure one of his creations towards the shore. Still, if he had told his creations once, he had told them a thousand times; never go too close to the shore. It was just lucky that he happened to be in the area, as he was able to stop them.
With the telling off complete, it was time to go speak with the mortals, to see exactly what they were doing. Some mortals were exceptionally weird, so perhaps it had just been a big misunderstanding. After all, as well as the blood in the water, they had thrown rocks, and even tried shouting at the sea. Clearly, there was something wrong with this particular group of mortals, but he would soon find out for himself.
With very little effort, he swam to the shore. He quickly stood up out of the water, as he was sure the group would've seen him coming. Usually he loved to make a dramatic entrance, but these mortals had upset him, and he simply wasn't in the mood.
It was Bahari'nswi, the God of Fish. Although he had literally just come out of the water, his mane remained thick and curly, as if it wasn't wet at all. Water simply ran off his coat, which shimmered almost like the scales of a fish. The long spines on his back arched upwards, allowing the sun's light to pass through the strange translucent skin between them, bathing him in a soft pink glow.
He was quite a sight to behold, and although he hadn't intended to show off to this group of mortals, apparently he was doing it subconsciously. It was clear from the expression on his face though that he wasn't happy, and he was massive. Frowning lightly, he looked down at each of the lions present, but paid no mind to the more inferior creatures. "What exactly were you trying to do?" His tone of voice was fairly neutral. The God of Fish was not the type to attack without good reason. Hopefully the mortals would have a good explaination for what they were doing.(( Shark meeting...they hugged it out. XP Just showing you this for size. Average lion is around 5-8 feet long. Average great white shark is around 13-17 feet long. In this pic, Bahari is hugging a great white that is above average size. XD So yes, Bahari is very big. ))

Ru's planning and scheming was thrown off pretty much completely by a movement from the water that soon turned into one of the largest creatures Ru had ever seen walking out of the water. The way the water sloughed off his skin was not normal, but then there was a lot about the creature that was not normal. Like the fact that he looked like someone had crossed a fish and a lion and then decided just for fun to give the result wings.
Oh, Stormlords. They'd gotten a god's attention. That could either be very good or very bad, depending on what happened next.
"Stormborn, hold," he commanded. He didn't want anyone being stupid and heroic and trying to attack a god. Experience, painful experience, had taught Ru not to attack gods. He'd not been inclined to do so even before that experience, but now he at least had an example to point to if anyone questioned his decision not to do so in the future.
"I am attempting to lure a sea monster to shore so that I can take one of its teeth in partial completion of a quest I was given by my warlord," he said, trying to keep his explanation succinct and yet descriptive.

The squirrels were so focused on avoiding diving gulls and yet still throwing eggs that it was the sound of water pouring off the huge god that got their attention, rather than the actual presence of him. When the two small mammals saw the great body, with its fins and curly hair, they both squeaked in terror and bolted up the cliff. At the top, they huddled together beneath a low bush and watched the scene from between the small leaves. Once their terror had subsided, seeing the attention of the monster on the lions, the female cackled and gloated to the male, though she was careful to whisper.
"Those mangy predators are gonna get it now!"

Munyu stopped, going slack-jawed and wide-eyed. He'd never truly seen a god before, so he was unprepared for the moment. Near by, the vulture was still clacking her beak, but the pale lion opted to ignore it. He looked over at Ru, listening to his words, then back at the curly-maned fish-lion. "We promise we wouldn't kill it... We just need a tooth, that's all."
The vulture waved a wing at the lions. "See? Stupid lions do worse than get big-fish, they get big-fish-lion-God!" She let out a clacking laugh, before spreading her wings and flying up to join the squirrels. Leaning down, the vulture did the best of what could be called grinning. "You right, stupid lions get it now!" She then pointed at the other bird below with a wing. "And Nondo not hunt, Nondo vulture, vulture eat things ALREADY dead! Stupid-bird get facts straight!" The little gulls were already dead when she plucked them from the sea, therefore fair game to eat. The living ones or ones yet to live, she respectfully would not touch.

She nodded, listening to the gull and opening her mouth to answer that the container should be light, once they got one, when suddenly he was spooked. Aluka was a bit surprised by suddenly being used as a shield, especially since she had failed to see something scary just then. Kree was troubled because of the vulture? She frowned and considered chasing that thing down.
"Are you sure?" She should hope they could out fly it!
But now was Aluka's turn to get scared. Her ears laid back and her jaw gaped when a huge, bizarre looking lion simply came out of the water. She knew enough about gods to know he was one, but that hardly meant it was a good thing to see. Especially if he was looking at them like that.
She gulped, and forced herself to calm down a bit as Ru talked to the god.

When one of the mortals spoke up, Bahari'nswi focused on him, his coral pink eyes narrowing slightly. He had ordered the rest to hold, so perhaps he was the leader? Yes, definitely, as he was the first to offer an explaination in regards to what was going on. Unfortunately for the mortals, the explaination had only confirmed exactly what the God of Fish had suspected them of doing.
His light frown deepened ever so slightly. "First, you refer to Our creations as 'monsters', then to reveal your intention to rob one of them of a tooth." He shook out his mane somewhat indignantly. "You mortals are either very brave or very stupid."
The large God took a step further on to the beach. His ears flicked forward as the more inferior creatures spoke up. Perhaps he should teach these mortals a lesson, although that wasn't exactly in his nature. He just wasn't so easily angered. One of the other lions then spoke up, a pale one. This one looked somewhat more impressed by him, which was always a good thing. There was very little the God of Fish loved more than a bit of awe. Bahari'nswi raised a brow. "We see." Perhaps these mortals weren't so bad after all, although the idea that they could remove a tooth from a shark without killing it was quite laughable. Maybe they could figure something out.
"We are Bahari'nswi, the magnificent God of Fish." The God flexed his wing spines once more before lowering them slightly, as if he was relaxing his muscles. "The sea is populated mostly by Our creations, but they share the sea with others. Others that are so large, so ugly and noisy, they are truely monstrous." His face scrunched up in disgust. "Whales and dolphins are the worst. You have never experienced creatures quite so obnoxious as them." Bahari'nswi looked at each of the lions present. If they were from a sea-based Pride, they probably ate his creations too, just like the whales and dolphins. Mortals had their uses though.
"Tell Us truthfully; are fish a part of your Pride's diet?"
