Scowling, Nisha made her way closer to the rest of the group. Maybe she had been wrong in thinking the babies had tried to distance themselves; maybe they were waiting closer to where they had lost their mother.
She padded toward the spot where the mother had first appeared. Every minor disturbance in the mud caught her eye, but in most cases the rain distorted any tracks before she could make out direction or the creature who had caused them.

((WOW, I'm oblivious...))
Kifu vaguely recalls having heard someone addressing him before scampering off to save the little mouse. He must remind himself that hadn't been a futile journey, even if not genet babies were found. He picked up that scent quickly, and trotted back over to the other, "Uh, sorry about that... I smelled something just now, but it was only a mouse." He tried to smile at the other, "Not that mice aren't important, they just aren't the... topic of the moment, shall we say."
The wild dog sniffed at the air again before resigning himself for a moment of failure, "Are you having any luck? Seems I used up all mine on frivolous dancing, comparatively speaking."

"I think i used all my luck just to find this pride, so i don't have anything." She said as she sighed and sniffed around, hoping to find something already yet nothing was coming up. With a huff, she looked at the others and knew only three were left to uncover and this was getting pretty bad. (So close! Cmon luck, waste yourself on here!!)

[Lmao, That's okay. c:]
Nishati turned her head as Kifu trotted up beside her. She smiled at him as warmly as she could manage in her current state, and brushed her tail along his back to let him know she wasn't angry.
"No.. No luck at all. The only thing I've found is a nosy bird. Although it did relieve a little tension to chase it off." Nisha tried to chuckle, but her throat cut the noise off. Luckily, the storm was raging so loudly that even she couldn't hear just how awkward it had sounded.
Squinting, she caught sight of a cluster of deep, messy tracks. It looked as though something small that was either terrified or very clumsy had scampered around in the mud there. She picked up the pace, padding forward quickly before the rain could wash the tracks away.

Deciding to continue, it wasn't long till something tiny tripped her in the mud and she growled as she got up, getting a bit ticked off that everything in this whole storm is trying to make her angry by tripping her now and again. Continuing the move on, she just wanted to be helpful be she was starting to realize that being helpful hurts.

Resigning to his uselessness, though still keeping his ears alert, he nodded to the other. The storm had picked up again, so the wild dog had to raise his voice to be heard, "I probably shouldn't of put so much into the dancing. I'm not good on these paws right now."
And then his companion was off. Might as well follow her, perhaps he could pick up on something she missed? "What did you find?" he called out as he padded up behind her. He had taken a slower pace, not just for his paws, but to see what scents he could pull out. Nothing interesting stuck.

The tracks in the mud hadn't paid off - judging by the shape and the faint, lingering scent, a rabbit must've been briefly stuck in the squishy earth.
Padding back to Kifu's side, Nisha shook her head in response to the canine's question. She couldn't help but feel the stress of this hunt taking it's toll. Her pelt was soaked through, her paws were numb and she was willing to bet that it would take her weeks to groom all of the muck out of her fur. Not to mention the emotional toll caused by constantly getting her hopes lifted and dropped.
She brushed her flank against Kifu's for some fragment of comfort. Her ears pricked forward at a slight sound to her right; she was almost too tired to investigate. Almost. Another useless quest. Another hit to the hope she tried to keep going. But she forced herself to continue searching. Lives depended on it.

Deciding to take a rest, she sighed as she sat down and was taking a breather since it was already bad enough out here, but the tension in her body was picking up.

Kifu blinked in the other's direction, at least what he thought was the other's direction. There was an awkward silence before Kifu put it all together. She must not of realized his 'condition.' It was never simple to just tell people he could not see. He hated the pity that often followed. He was born this way, and as far as he was concerned, he had all the senses he need. The canine actually generally relished when creatures did not notice; he tended to blend in well.
If she had found something, she probably would of said something about it. Choosing a random direction, he gestured his head that way. "I'm going to check this way... We'll find them eventually." At least the weather was warm, so he wasn't wet and cold.

With a sigh, she started walking again, wanting to go ahead and find at least one baby and get this over and done with. She was getting tired, her body was starting to strain, and her blood was boiling as she was getting agitated from this hunt.

Turning to look at Kifu as he gestured, Nisha realized that his eyes didn't seem to be focused on anything in particular. It hit her suddenly that he must be blind. She had to admit, she was impressed; she hadn't been able to tell. Although she figured the storm must be playing havok with his other senses.
She forced out a small purr at his reassurance and followed suit. She assumed he must be aware of her presence, but just to be sure she continued to let their drenched pelts brush every few steps. She didn't know just how much the storm could affect his perception.
"Hey.. Can you smell that?", she shouted. It was definitely the mother genet's scent. But she couldn't be sure if it meant there was a baby nearby, or if the storm had just blown the scent all over. As if it needed to confuse them further.

The scent of the genet family was all over the place, driving her insane. Either they have been everywhere, or the wind decided to play a little game with the lioness, making her every more agitated. She wanted to get this done so she could go to bed already.

Nisha hardly waited for an answer before sloshing through the mud in the direction of the fading scent. She drew what remained of the smell over her tongue, trying to pinpoint location.
She nearly lost it, but was certain it kept continuing to the left. She padded after it in an almost frenzied manner, but the rain and wind kept whipping the scent around and distorting it. Frustrated, she scored her claws through the sodden earth and waited for Kifu to catch up. Perhaps he could pick up the trail.

Apparently she had figured it out. He could hear her feet slopping through the muddy earth as she followed, but she kept repeating small touches, letting him know she was there. It was the kind of thing people did just because they should, and not because they felt obligated. They fell into step, and Kifu couldn't help but marvel at how easy it was working with her. Maybe together they could find one of the little genets.
Kifu stopped short at her question. He was still adjusting to having her scent so constantly near him, but when he actually focused he could smell genet - the mother genet to be exact. "I'm not sure, do you think it is coming from the mother or somewhere else?"
