While he watched the goings on, he was pretty sure there were a lot of faces he didn't even recognize- animals who either weren't members of the pride, new members, or perhaps just ones he hadn't had the pleasure of challenging yet. Whatever the case may be, he was looking forward to changing his impression from 'who the heck are these people' to 'oh, I remember him, I beat him at so and so event' or 'that's the guy who bested me at blah blah blah'.

That would make him happy. The best way to get to know others was to challenge them and figure out their strengths and weaknesses.

But he wondered if it was too late in the event for something like that. Things seemed to be winding down, and he didn't want to be the guy who was trying to make things last much longer than they needed to.

As excited as he was to meet all these new beings, he knew there was always every other day to get better acquainted with members of the pride. He smiled lightly to himself and continued to watch, happy to be the spectator. It looked there were lots of different animals mingling with one another- that was good to see!

Anju remained quite during this time. She decided she'd listen as Gwarredd took control of the conversation. She wondered if perhaps they would find a place somewhere to call home. She knew this place wasn't it, it didn't scream Choose me! She looked back over at the male that had come up and she glanced back over towards her companion.

"I find myself traveling quite a bit myself." He tried to remain a calm neutral so the female wouldn't be anymore alarmed than what she already was. He was curious to know what caused her to be like such but he wasn't one to pry.

"I honestly don't know if it's always like this. I happened upon this not to long before you both arrived." He said with a smile. It was true, he had found himself wandering along and the excitement had called him this way. "I prefer the wanderers life for now." He said with a nod. He wasn't yet ready to find a place to call home, he might never find one.

Kala decided not to sit around an do nothing just because things seemed to be winding down. There was time yet to play a bit, and still animals around to do it. But first- he needed to stretch.

Carelessly, happily, he put his paws out in front of him, sinking his weight onto his back legs as he stretched his front paws out in front of him. He splayed his toes out, letting the each one get a tiny stretch in, too. Then he let his claws extend and grip the drip, digging small lines in the ground that marked just how nice a stretch he'd had.

Then he shifted his weight, his back legs stretching out behind him and doing much of the same thing his front had. It felt so good to stretch out his limbs- whether he was getting ready to work out or because he'd just woken up and was getting ready for the day. Did anyone hate stretching? It seemed quite impossible to him. Only someone who didn't have limbs wouldn't like it.

Once his limbs were stretched, he remained standing, shaking his head to work any kinks from him neck. Oh yeah.

Did he know how to stretch or what?

"does anyone want to play?" he asked carefully, looking around.

Anju remained silent, thinking to herself during this time. She was more then elated that she had a companion like Gwarredd, whom she found herself growing increasingly attached to as each day passed. He made it so easy for her to be herself and she was glad that she had decided to suck it up and say hello to him when she had seen him at the feast. She looked at him out of the corner of her eye, watching him and then looked away so she wouldn't get caught. She was almost afraid to admit that perhaps she was falling in love with him. She hadn't allowed herself to feel for so long and she was more than certain that she was starting to get feelings for him.

- - -

Holo watched as kala stretched and stood up .He wondered what he was doing then he smiled as the male spoke. He would take him up on that offer. "Pardon me, but I believe a game is in order." He wondered if Gwarredd would join in. He turned to face Kala and gave him a nod as he stood up. "I'll join you in a match." Moving towards him he stretched out his limbs feeling them loosen up as he approached.

Kala was pretty excited to see that someone was actually interested in having a game with him. For a moment, he had thought no one would want to play, and he would have to train on his own. Which was fine- he liked training. It wasn't like he hadn't done that every day he had been out in the rogue lands on his own, anyway. But now he was in a pride. It felt like he shouldn't be so quick to do things on his own. Even if he was a bum for being late. Even if he felt they were within their rights to not play with him. It still seemed like he should at least TRY.

That was enough for him.

Thankfully, it even seemed to pay off. "Really? That's great!" he hummed, shaking his tail around in delight, "is there anything in particular that you like to play?! I like races myself, but I'd be willing to give anything a try!" He hadn't learned all the different games the pride played, but he was willing to. anything that helped his skills was good in his book. That was why he joined the pride in the first place.

He looked at the other guy who was there with them, wondering if he wanted to play as well. "Do you want to join?" He offered to Gwarredd.

Taji watched as the felines began to mingle, a smile on his face. This was what he loved about games. They brought everyone together! He overheard a few of the felines ask about a game, and his ears flicked forward. Howa still wasn't here...but that was no matter! He could step in and take her place.

"All right...I think it's time for a little game," he said, standing and moving to the center of the playing space. "If I could have everyone's attention! Since you all did so well with the shooting game, I think we can up the ante a bit...see how well you do with someone blocking your shots for you. It will be like a real game of Kikombe, but without others rushing to try to get the shell from you. A little warm up of sorts for our friends who aren't used to these rules."

He turned and smiled to the new faces, nodding at each in turn. "These rules will be very simple...everyone can take turns shooting at our goalies that I'll ask to come up. Don't be afraid to give it your all, they're players and can take a few bumps and bruises. All you have to do is get the shell by their paws...sounds easy, right?" He turned and looked at the crowd that had gathered, creatures that were biding their time or simply just wanting to watch. He scanned the crowd before grinning.

"Ah...here we go...Seamróige, if you please! You too, Iqhawe...you're starting to get your mane, you can certainly start to train!" He chuckled at his own witty rhyme, waiting for the two he had summoned to come to the field.

-----

The first to take the field was Taji's eldest son, sporting a bit of fluff on his chest and gangly limbs he was growing in to. He had the same grin as his father, though, and he bounded forward far more eagerly than the wild dog that followed him. "Can I go first, Pop?" he asked, coming to a halt in front of the larger lion. This would be his first time playing with adults, since before he had been confined to the cubs. Excitement ran through his body and he shivered, waiting for the word. With a motion of his paw he was off to the far goal. Once there, he settled down and paced in front of the net, making sure he knew just how far he had to protect. Settling in the little hole, he tapped either post with his tail and dug his claws into the dirt, lowering his head with a little snarl. Just try to get a shell past him!

Iqhawe's Stats: Adol - OS 1, EN 3, DS 1

-----

Taji chuckled softly and moved to line up some shells for anyone that wanted to try their paw at getting a goal. "Don't go easy on him, my friends! He needs to learn what a shell to the nose feels like," he said cheerfully. "Whenever you're ready, take aim and fire away!"

He moved aside with the wild dog he'd also called upon. Iqhawe had a lot of heart but no experience, so he didn't expect him to last that long.

Kikombe Practice

All right guys, you made it to the practice round! This might turn in to a wall of text, but I'll try to keep it sweet and simple.

This game will run until either the goalies win or the shooters win. I will be playing the goalies so we can keep the game moving. There will be no posting order, but you can't post twice in a row. One team will win when the other team is out of energy. If the game goes too fast, I'll have Taji step in as a third and final goalie. He's kind of a tank though, since he was a player that trained his heart out before he became the Player Overseer...but there's a lot of you guys out there and he's out of shape. We'll see what happens!

This game will make use of stats! Woo-hoo! An in-depth explanation of stats can be found here, but I'll give you the run-down on what you need to know for this game. As shooters, you will all be using your OS, or Offensive Skill. This varies from species to species! Here are all of the species and their stats...make sure you use your proper species stats, please! These are unique to adult SoA only. I will post the adol stats below, but as of right now there's no adols but...just in case someone wants to join with one.

As you can see, there are two other stats. EN is the SoA's Endurance and DS is Defensive Skill. The goalies will be using their DS to try to block your SoA's shots! All players will use their EN stat if they fail in their attempt. For example, if the goalie blocks your SoA's shot, your SoA failed. That means they will lose 1 EN stat for this game. You can play until you reach 0. Don't worry...a little rest and a good meal will refill your SoA's EN stat! It will return to its full potential 24 hours after you've exhausted it. Please keep track of your EN stat in your post so everyone can stay on the same page!

Here's how you will use your stats. Find the species of your SoA. Let's say you're playing with a lion. A lion's OS is 2, which means you will get to roll 2 6-sided dice. The total number that those dice generate is what the goalie has to match or beat to block your shot. Let's say with your lion you roll a 4 and a 1...that means you have 5. If the goalie is also a lion, their DS is 1. The odds are in your favor, my friend! The goalie rolls a 3...whoops! Looks like that shell got by them. Your SoA succeeds, so the goalie takes one EN away from their total.

In the event of a tie, the defender always wins.

For each post that you make that is over 200 words, you will be put into the Kikombe Practice raffle, as well as the regular raffle. If there are any Kikombe players that decide to take part, they will earn you 2 tickets per 200 word post. ONLY Kikombe players can get this extra bonus. If you're in the Kikombe but not a player, sorry! The 2 ticket bonus only applies to the Kikombe Practice raffle, not the main raffle.

If you have ANY QUESTIONS at all, don't hesitate to PM me or IM me. My AIM is slowXtyper88.

Aka lifted his head from off the dirt. Well, this was a game he could appreciate. Some actual Kikombe? Heck yes! Time to move those muscles again, he decided with a grunt and lifted himself from the floor. He gaited up in front of the crowd, all the while keeping his sights set on the net and an excited Iqhawe. A hit to the nose? How painful, Aka could remember the first time he received a painful blow to his shoulder joint. Man did that sting. He smirked at the memory and continued monitoring Iqhawe's movements.

He'd make sure the kid was out of here fast, Aka wanted desperately to play against the wild dog next in line. He remembered fondly the promise he had shouted at Sea that their next meeting would be here, on the field. It pleased him greatly to know that wasn't an entire lie in itself. He lightly lifted the tips of his toes off the ground only to patter them back against the dirt again. He was... He was so excited! Yes! Excitement! Pleased! What have you, he was thrilled. Actual Kikombe, and if he managed to succeed in this shot, against his rival! Such anticipation!

Suddenly he darted forward with a shell being dragged under his front paw. Flexing his wrist quickly, the Cheeton danced backwards after a few steps to watch the shell slide across the ground. He said nothing, merely watched it skid with a hungry glare.

Rowehn grinned with glee as Taji announced the upcoming game. THIS WAS HER GAME! Her smile grew ever fonder when Taji called forth her daughter to be a goalie. She was simply swelling with pride, but it soon faded as the glint of victory flickered in her eyes. Her daughter was a swift goalie, of that much she knew. After all, she had been her trainer, and she'd definitely inherited her Grandmother's quick footing.

"Well looks like i've got a challenge on my paws. Just try and tell me you didn't do this on purpose Taji!" She grinned, sticking her tongue out at the leader before taking her turn amongst the other competitors. She had the advantage here, she had raised the goalie from a pup. Taught her everything she knew!

This was going to be a piece of cake.

Watching the Cheeton before her take her shot, she waited patiently for her own turn which soon took place. Lowering her stance, she stood eye to eye with the goalie taking in their stance. She could do this, easy peasy.

Reeling back her paw,she put forth all her energy into her shot. Allowing the shell to slide easily across the field, she waited with bated breath for the ruling.

The young lion watched as one of the players - a hybrid at that - decided to go first. He squared himself to the slim cheeton, his eyes on the prize being batted forward slowly. He knew hybrids were dangerous on the field, since they had the strengths of both of their parents, and Aka was an adult to boot. He wasn't the most active player out there - he wasn't on a team yet, but from what he heard there was a new one starting up soon that he might join - but that didn't mean he should underestimate him.

Finally the shell was launched at him, and he dug his claws in to the dirt to see how it was coming at him. He only had a few quick seconds to gauge the spin, but the wild shots he defended as a cub came in to play, and he read the spin just right. He stuck out his paw and watched it bounce off. He grinned and lifted his head, tossing his growing mane. Easy peasy!

Iqhawe turned his attention to the next opponent in line, a wild dog. He tilted his head slightly as she made her move, wondering who she was. She looked so familiar...oh! She was a coach! That's right...the coach that raised her pawful of pups into mostly, if not all players. He wondered if she'd consider him on a team...this would be his chance. Her shot was taken and he lowered his head, but at the last moment the shell caught a bump in the field and kicked up over his head into the net. He stared ahead in surprise for a moment before glancing over his shoulder, staring at the shell in the net.

"Whoa," he said quietly, looking back at the wild dog with an amazed look. "That shot was great!" he said with a laugh. "You gotta teach me how to do that!" She was a coach, after all. She knew her stuff. A coach knew the field inside and out, and she probably knew that little bump was there and used it to her advantage.

Kalakonji was excited- this was the kind of thing he lived for. Not only the sport and chance to compete with those around him, but also the chance to learn something new. That was what he loved most about being an energetic sportsleopard, after all.

He listened intently as the directions were given, watching as a few of the animals around him took their shots. He waited for the chance to play as well, scooting up to one of the shells eagerly before doing his best to find a decent position in front of the goalie. Just shoot it at the goal and hope it gets past the one protecting the goal, right? That didn't seem like it would be so bad. Actually, it sounded like a lot of fun! He was really looking forward to learning the full game, but was enjoying the step by step process they seemed to be going through.

once he felt like he had readied himself enough, he bounded for the shell, swiping at it with a large paw and sending it for the goal. "Whoo!" He laughed, watching it go. They certainly knew how to move!.

Oh, he hoped he could make a goal! He would have to practice his butt off to make sure he got better if he couldn't pull it off!

His ears curved back slightly when Iqhawe flicked the shell away. Aka was disappointed that he'd have to wait longer to play against Sea, but he didn't blame himself for this. No, instead Aka often thought of Kikombe- or any game really, as a matter of luck. It didn't matter that he missed his shot, he'd just have to try again! With enough practice and enough luck it was possible to win anything in his mind.

Gaiting over to the side lines the player eagerly sifted through the collection of shells Taji had left as if they were different assortments of meat. He rested his paw briefly on one before batting it's rim so it was tilted on one side. Flicking it in the air he caught it in his maw before spinning around and walking over calmly to the goalpost. Kalakonji had just finished his turn, so now it was Aka's again! He opened his jaws to allow the shell to drop on the ground and in the passing seconds eyed the goalpost once more. Once the shell landed he decided luck would favor him this time around and with a enthusiastic shout kicked it across the landscape.

After missing the save, Iqhawe shook himself out a little bit and took a small trot around the goal. He needed to get his head back in the game! There were coaches and recruiters here and if he could impress them by doing well here against adults, maybe he'd find a spot on the team soon. He'd never had any formal training other than his father's pointers, so hopefully his raw talent - if he had any - would shine through.

A leopard stepped up for his turn, one that Iqhawe had seen around the pride before, so he knew he had another tough match on his hands. So far no rouges had attempted the shot...that was good! It meant he was intimidating or something...right? The shot was surprisingly powerful when it was sent his way, and he incorrectly timed how long it would take to arrive. He ended up having to jump, stretching his paw out in a desperate swat and just barely deflected the shell away. Phew...

"Great shot!" he called out as he picked himself up, amazing that he'd even stopped it. Another one like that and he wasn't sure he could save it.

He had just picked himself up from defending the blast from the leopard when the hybrid stepped back up to try again. He lowered his head, eyes focused. He was sure he had gotten lucky last time, or maybe the other male had just been testing the waters. Either way, he knew he had to be on his game this time.

Sure enough, the shot that was hit his way was fast and technical. It was spinning an odd way that made it hard for Iqhawe to track it, and he wasn't sure if it was going to break left, right, or stay straight. He cheated to the left just a bit, but just as he did that the shell started to veer to the right. He mumbled a quick 'shoot' under his breath as he dove once more, but the shell sailed passed him and into the net. It hit the ground before he did, indicating how slow he had been to move.

Getting up, he shook his head and pulled the shell out of the net, sending it back to the next player. "Amazing!" he called out with a laugh, disappointed he'd missed but still astounded at the cheeton's abilities. "Great job!"
