Kipenzi kicked her paws in the air, and in a moment of spite decided to push her older muscles into working order. While not all out running, she'd become reckless in her pursuit of the finish line. There wasn't a spot that she didn't graze down sliding rocks without so much as a pause, giving on the slightest of hesitation when she felt her paws move out from under her.
She would catch up, she just would! As she ran she knew that her son would be waiting for her at the finish line, screaming her name and hoping to call his mother victor. She had to bring joy to her family some how, she just had to.

Getting back onto the path made his shoulder hurt much more than he had expected it to, and rather against his will Song found that his forward progress was basically halted completely as the wounded joint refused to carry him any farther for the moment. So he was forced to watch as others increased their lead over him, fuming ineffectually all the while.
Total Score: 12Quote: While traversing a narrow portion of the course, Songvari loses his footing and falls, suffering a moderate injury of your choosing. He takes a -2 to his next two rolls (but no backtracking/negative totals, so if he were to roll a 1 it would just turn to 0), then a -1 to his rolls for the remainder of the race.

She was definitely slowing down. Lilija's legs were starting to burn as her mind started becoming more aware of things around her. Fellow lions stumbling, hurting themselves. The Queen did say this was going to be dangerous. She panted harshly now, tongue hanging out from one corner of her mouth as she continued to press forward. Win or lose, she had to finish the race for herself.

The lion saw the finish line fast approaching and he was neck and neck with the other fastest lion. Maybe, just maybe he could pull this off. They had both slowed down considerably. Aristaeus' path had become quite trecherous with loose stones that had tumbled down to the bottom of the hill and gnarled roots that reached up from the earth with the sole intent of latching onto lions' laurels. Difficult as the race had been, though, he was almost there. Total: 1+2+3+5+6+2+2 = 21

Did she make it? Lilija had sped up, pushing herself harder and faster for the last leg. Hopefully she could finish. Please. Her chest was tightening with the effort. Swallowing thickly, the blue lioness closed her eyes and just pushed. She had a feeling she was going to stumble and fall soon. Slip on a rock and just hurt herself.

Kipenzi could see a couple of lions pull ahead of her, and at first it didn't bother her as much until the finish line came into view. She tried to run all out, but her paws were caught up in loose gravel, sending her flailing to the side. At first she thought she might fall, but somehow she stayed up right.
Her mess up was not without embarrassment. She could see her son from this distance, could see the look in his eyes when he saw his mother flail. It damaged her pride more than the screw up itself.
And then they crossed. She couldn't see the winner as she was too busy running, but she could hear the cheers.
[Current Score: 3 + 1 + 3 + 3 + 5 + 1 = 16] (Congrats!)

Kaimana slowed as she heard the cheering up ahead, she had no idea who the victor was. But she was happy for whoever had won, and she was happy for herself. Though her pace had slowed, she was still determined to finish the race. But she wasn't going to put as much of a frenzy into it as she had previously. The race had been won, and now she could go at her own pace and finish it without injury. A smile crossed her face as she headed towards the finish line, excited to see the victor and congratulate them.

Just curious - but how did we go from roll 4 - 5(?) to roll 7 in one day? No one waited for everyone else to roll since it was a holiday? =[ ||

She was catching up! Upendo jumped a ledge she found, starting to run a bit faster. She was starting to make out markings now on a lion, and she could hear their paws almost as well as her own paws and breathing. The blue-spotted black lioness slid a bit, before continuing to run. Just a little further... She was almost there...! She didn't care about finishing last, she just didn't want to finish so far behind everyone. At least if she came in a close last instead of a far last, she'd still hear the cheering of everyone when it was still enthusiastic. Was she worried about getting half-hearted cheers? Maybe a bit.

Most lions had passed him by now, but the ground was no longer as steep and he was starting to pick up his pace again. With a little luck he could possibly get back ahead of the others, right?
Maybe. Here was for hoping! He grinned and lunged from a larger rock, trying to gain some momentum. He slowed rather suddenly when he spotted the winner crossing the finish, feeling a little disappointed in himself but at the same time happy for the other!
He kept going though, just so he could finish. There was no point giving up just because he didn't win, right?
[current score: 16 (5 + 2 + 2 + 1 + 1 + 5)]
congrats!!
