The Aerodactyl would struggle and manage to loosen the grip before the stones slammed into it. Allowing the impact to send it flying, it would free itself from the Rhyperior's grip and obey the next order. "Bulldoze. Let's keep this idiot still." The girl monotoned, watching as the Aerodactyl came crashing down onto the ground and began to cause the ground to shift and rupture around the Rhyperior. It would do some good damage and hopefully slow it down as the woman desired.

"To the air, Goliath. Another Rock Blast!"
The giant understood what his trainer meant, slamming his tail into the ground and propelling himself into the air. Dodging the Bulldoze, he aimed with his palm at the fossil and fired more boulders.

The Rhyperior would barely avoid the Bulldoze, but it would get his opponent finally fired up to do something a little more proactive against her opponent. "That's it! Use the item and then Iron Head!" The bespectacled girl cried out, watching as a small sack around the Aerodactyl's neck opened and released a shimmering powder.
Bright Powder. And just enough to send the rocks aimed for the Aerodactyl off course and allow the avian to swoop over to the area above the Rhyperior before darting down towards it's target. After being blinded like that, how would the Rhyperior react to this?

"Item?" Dan repeated just as the Bright Powder appeared. It nearly blinded him, he could imagine Goliath wasn't having an easy time seeing either. And there was a dangerous attack coming their way too. Luckily he could just make out a silhouette of the flying reptile just above his rock giant. "Above you! Bring it into a hug and use Horn Drill" he directed. Of course, this meant taking the hit in order to get a hold of Aerodactyl but Goliath could take it; at least one more time. If he could get a hold of it, the titan would lower the drill on his face down on his opponent's head as they fell.

Aerodactyl stood no chance against the grappling maneuver. It was simply moving too fast when it saw the two massive arms moving to grapple it. "Power on through! It's our only choice!" The now emboldened woman shouted, watching as her Aerodactyl slammed into the Rhyperior and sent the pair slamming into the ground. Whatever happened from here, this had likely decided it. There was no coming back for Aerodactyl, but did Rhyperior survive?

Unfortunately, the hard fall to the ground was not taken into account. The Rhyperior struggled to stand as the dust cleared but fell down in defeat. "Good job, Goliath. Rest well" Dan smiled, returning the pokemon. Perhaps he would need to consider training with him more but all in all, he did a good job. As for the girl he was facing, he didn't know if she had another pokemon or if the battle was over. Either way, he just wanted to move on to the gym leader.

The woman would stomp over, opening her Pokeball mid-stride as she approached Dan and grabbed the pickax from him. "Since you aren't moving...YAAH!" The screech of effort would be greeted by the pickax flying like a shot and shattering the wall between them and the Gym Leader. "Now, get out. Or else I find something else to fight you with."

Dan just stared and blinked at the woman thinking someone must have done wrong by her in the past. Either that or she was just a bi- CRASH! The axe broke the wall down, revealing the path to the gym leader. "Yeah, yeah. I'm goin'" Dan waved her off, heading into the opening. He wondered what the leader was like, as a trainer that is. Clearly he was an insane psycopath with an a affinity for traps.

Roark would slowly turn around to the new opening in his Gym, watching as Dan strode in. "Hey there. Have fun with your little excavation? Sorry about the crazy path you had to take, but most people figure it out by the second room." The man was quick to speak and adjusted the miner's helmet on his head as he did so, moving across the battlefield to the opposite end to make it easier for Dan to get into position. "So then, want to do any pre-amble or straight to the action?"

"...Lots of fun" Dan answered sarcastically. What part of fleeing for his life was fun? Then again, he did a lot of that in Snagem too. Oh Arceus! Did he secretly enjoy this crap? "Yeah, sure, why not?" he replied to the gym leader. While he was giving his introduction, he was sorting out which pokemon to use and which to lead with. The trainer was definitely going to be doing a lot of personal thinking when this was over.

Roark gave a smile at the blatant sarcasm. "It's not my fault you were kinda clueless." He chuckled at Dan and his grumblings. It was always a good time when the less attentive ones did reach him. "Now then. Rampardos. Let's make him feel at home." He announced, throwing a Pokeball and patting the monstrous dinosaur that appeared.

'What part of that was obvious?' he shook his head. Dammit! He really hoped the other gyms didn't have these riddle and puzzle aspects to them. The gym leader proceeded to call out a large dino with a bulbous head. It looked pretty intimidating... "Alright, you're up!" Dan tossed out the pokeball and out came his Dewott. The otter drew his scalchop and prepared for battle. "Let's go, Aqua Jet!" Rain summoned water from his feet, cloaking himself in it and then propelled himself like a rocket at the dino.

Watching the Dewott charge towards his Rampardos, letting out a small sigh. "Does anyone ever just show up to this gym to try and fight without pure elemental advantage? It's been ages since there was ever just a straight up fight rather than unbalanced assault." Roark moaned, watching as the Dewott drew closer. "Fine then. Zen Headbutt. Let's see what this does." Waiting for the scallop to begin slicing into and past it, the Rampardos quickly hunkered down and thrusted forward with the Zen Headbutt to slam into the Dewott.

Dan could understand what Roark was saying about the battle. Two Pokemon battling, neither with an advantage over the other. A contest to determine the skill of both trainer and Pokemon. Surely, that was what a gym battle was all about. "...I just want the badge, man. They don't let you into the league without all eight of them." Rain was speeding along until he saw Rampardos lowering that menacing dome to intercept. Crash headlong into it or evade? Hmm... The otter canceled his attack moments before collision, somersaulting midair to land on the dino's neck. "Besides, I didn't choose Rain just because he was a water type. I highly doubt your big lumbering dinosaur is as nimble as my Dewott. So now, Razor Shell!" Dan called out, his Pokemon turning his scalchop into water blades. With a grin, he'd bring them both down on the back of the behemoth's neck.
