Gren dived forwards to rescue the fallen rarec, catching the links in her jaws and ducking out of the way of raven wings passing overhead. The raven Qara, alighted on a stone, his eyes wild and beak clacking. He strutted back and forth, arching his wings.

“Death, death!” he shrieked, his caw a grotesque laugh.

Gren curled a lip and reached a paw out to knock him aside. She needn’t have bothered.

The snake that had been hiding in amongst the rocks lashed out from the shadows, her jaws snapping closed on feathers. The raven gave a startled qwork, and took flight again, screaming and cursing before rejoining the mass of his chaotic brethren.

Gren, with a low growl, secured her grip on the necklace and tried to edge around the hissing snake. She was a huge, scaled thing and had eyes fixed on the large female. The python struck and her reach was further than the lioness estimated. The teeth lodged into her shoulder, packing a punch strong enough to stagger her sideways. A paw came up again, slashing the snake just behind the head, and then she was sidling away, limping even as the serpent bled into the dirt.

---

Across from Gren’s momentary retreat, Rokopelli was fading fast. The hyenas had been the first to move in for the kill and now one wing was broken, hanging limp at her side, and the wound in her throat was beyond repair now. Darkness was creeping up on her now, narrowing her vision and upsetting her balance.

When Gever came for her, she did not even see him, though she felt the result, her body twisting; reacting to defend itself. And then there was another one there in front of her, going for her face, and with one last burst – even as she felt her paws going out from under her – was to try to get them away from her.

Her mind reached for Panna, felt pain there, and she knew, then, that her dear friend had joined the fray. Hide, she pleaded, please hide. I’ll find you again someday. She did not know if the snake had heard or would even obey, but she hoped desperately that she would.

Los' grip on the goddess' wing was crippling. The satisfied cackle he gave once he let go was enough to let others know that she wasn't going to be flying any time soon. He backed up to let others attack, but he wasn't quite fast enough to clear the wing he had just been chewing on. In her desperation, the goddess was lashing out and trying to survive, and the very wing he'd just broken caught him in the side, sending him tumbling away. He was back on his paws in an instant, though, the thrill of the hunt and the pain he felt only driving him into further euphoria. They had almost done it!

Krieg spat out the hunk of flesh as others around her attacked the goddess. It was clear that she was going to be brought down, so the little hyena darted away. A flailing paw caught her leg and sent her down with a surprised snarl, but the wound was superficial. She probably wouldn't even have much of a scar to show for her battle. Still, that was small pickings next to what she had helped accomplish. One more blow and they had won.

Double 4s: Multikill! Roko remaining HP: 0!

Daudr was furious, and furiously happy all at once. Blood fury helped her ignore the staggering winding the goddess had given her, and at the last moment she charged forward again, diving, and clamping her teeth into the torn remains of the downed immortal's throat. Blood poured out almost fast enough to make her hack and release her hold, but the wild, wide-eyed beast in her would not allow that. Not even for a minute.

At the same time some green lioness dove for the goddess' ruined throat, the Kaar left off her clawing at the poor god's face, sneering down before snapping in close, her teeth aimed for the base of the skull where it met the spine. A swift end, if it was clean, and if she could get her teeth around it while the green Braak was at her throat.

In the end it would be hard to say what ended the immortal. The initial wound? The numerous gashes and traumas? The vicious choke hold? Or perhaps the swift crunch to the back of the neck. Either way, in an instant the goddess wouldn't have to worry at all any more.

User ImageRaha had to make a few sharp turns to avoid out of control ravens, and he climbed even higher to get out of the way of the worst of it. Weirdness was in the air, somehow. Well, 'weirdness' was the closest thing he could think of to describe it at least. He looked down, and he figured it must soon be over, if the Goddess wasn't already dead. Could they die? Could you eat them if they could die?

Raha had recently been hungry enough to try dining on dead and sun baked elephant, but he wasn't sure he'd ever get desperate enough to try to turn dead God into a snack. Why was he even thinking about this?

Confusion.

Emotions not quite her own, or were they?

Koka slipped through the grasses and the terrain with ease until she was right in the fray. The sounds and sights of battle not unknown to the lioness overwhelmed her senses. What was she doing here? Being situated in the attack itself only seemed to increase her lack of coherency. Feathers of all different hues were scattered about, swirling around the lions paws as they moved.

What was going on? She should be sitting back watching the effects of this fight. She hadn't had any intention of physically joining it! Then she was almost physically assaulted by the vision again.

All she knew was that she was confused and felt she was no longer watching but a part of what she was seeing! A Phantom agony raced through her body as she felt claws dig in, and teeth take chunks. It wasn't until the feathers cleared that she realized what was happening. She was the one being hunted.

With a roar Koka lashed out instinctually at the phantom pains she felt. Claws extended in full the lioness's pupils were constricted as the vision lingered. In her mind's eye she was lashing out at invisible attackers, in reality she should have just been attacking air, but unfortunately the lioness had managed to situate herself near Muunokhoi. Leaping forward, her claws reached out to rake the lion's hide in near madness.

The mass of bodies congregating around the fallen goddess was intense and Muunokhoi was struggling to get in close enough, shoving and snapping, his attention distracted by ravens that kept colliding with his head. He had reared up onto his hind legs to smash a feathered demon out of the sky when Koka came at him.

Enraged, the dark brown lion swung around, a paw already unsheathed to kill the wretched beast mid air, and instead came face to face with a strange lioness. Not a raven at all. Still, his reaction of surprise had come too late and his aimed strike did not falter.

“Qara!” he bellowed.

And then the large, three-eyed raven was back, diving straight for the black lioness, aiming for her eyes.

Behind him, the Nergui had completed their glory hunt.

The goddess, Rokopelli, was dead.

User Image By the time Tesak recovered from being hit in the head with a raven (and that was a bizarre turn of events in and of itself), it was over. The final blow was struck and the winged lioness had crumpled to the ground.

It was, overall, less than personally satisfying for the young Nohoi who hadn't even been able to strike a single blow! And when would there be another such hunt with such prey that he'd have the opportunity? He didn't know and couldn't say. Still, he'd keep his personal disappointment to himself, as the Nergui would be quite pleased with the overall results of today's hunt.

Koka didn't even see the blow coming. In fact, she saw nothing really as she blindly attacked but the paw to the side of her head certainly knocked some sense into her, literally. The hit knocked Koka from her paws and sent her sprawling into the grasses and away from the raven's deadly claws that would have certainly done major damage to her.

The lioness lay there gathering her thoughts and trying to piece together everything. She no longer was caught up in her vision but it didn't mean that she knew what was happening. It was the first time Koka could ever say she was completely out of control, and she didn't like it one bit. Oh no.

Practically gasping for air as she tried to gather together what had occurred. A single blue feather fluttered away from her nose as air rushed out of her maw with her quick breathing. Taking account of the fact that her head felt ready to split open. She could feel a wetness slowly seeping through her fur along the side of her face. Well that last hit had definitely been real.

With a last deep breath the lioness pushed herself up onto her front paws and it was then that she realized that she may be in quite a bit of trouble. She was among unfriendly lions and from the looks of it, they had taken down an immortal. Wonderful.

Damn her visions!

(I'll be rolling for the raffle later on today, so keep a look out for that ^_^ )

----------

"You kruird have ksoaead down, kakora!" Muunokhoi spat, the venom in his tone and his face clear even his words were not. He took a heavy step forwards, a muscle in his hind leg twitching beneath the wound she had inflicted on him. "We kroae two srek day. Grurae is kema."

He meant to kill her and claim further glory.

That was, of course, until the steel-blue lion, Tomorbaatar, slipped up from where he had been watching events unfolding. A small, dark raven was perched upon his shoulder, the Kaar Oma's very pet. She sat quiet and still, her eyes tracing the ravens and other bird species that were beginning to dissipate now that their job was done. Qara, the huge raven who had led them as best as he could, was on the ground now, screeching angrily at the black lioness. He had wanted those eyes.

"Get uis of kae way, Tomorbaatar." The warlord snapped, baring his teeth.

"Wait uma moment, Muunokhoi Oma. Do aeui not kaa her?"

"I kaa a daod thing."

Tomorbaatar frowned, shaking his head and stepping forwards to physically stand between them. "Take rar as dhlurr. Mchawi Oma vuird be vraokad."

There was a tense moment, stirred by the angry growls of Gren as she tugged the artifacts off of the feathered, bloodied corpse.

"Toda her. Baos her. Kerr her ek she duak not kibkes," the brown lion snapped and then he was turning away, moving to inspect the prey and gather his troops for the victorious march home.

Tomorbaatar turned to Koka, switching to the common tongue with ease, his accent perfectly mirroring that what Koka would have been used to. "It seems he has decided not to kill you." He smiled, but the charm had an edge to it. "Though do not thank me yet. You are dhlurr now. A slave." He turned to seek our Gable amongst the masses. "You will make a fine slave."

They had done it. The goddess fell before them, the life bleeding out of her into the dirt. Los had never felt so alive and powerful before. Here, with these lions and hyenas, they had killed a goddess. He had never really thought about immortals before he had joined the Nergui, but now to know he had helped bring one down...even if he didn't get any praise from the lions for his help, he knew this memory would stick with him for years to come until he was killed or died of old age. He glanced at his daughter, pleased to see the blood covering her face and mane. She had done very well, especially for one that wasn't fully grown yet. She'd be a powerful asset to the Nergui.

Hind leg stinging from the wound the dying lioness had inflicted, Krieg lifted her head proudly as Gren began to pull the artifacts off the dead lioness. She had helped. She had helped quite a bit, in fact, by distracting the goddess and turning at just the right moment for a devastating blow. She had also helped bring her down during her final bid for an escape. The blood on her muzzle made her see red, craving more battles such as this, ones that required the use of her mind and her body.

She glanced over at Muunokhoi, who seemed to have some issue with a lioness that looked a bit beat-up, but she had no concern for those events. Now was the time to go home and sing for the glory of the Nergui. She had tasted godflesh and she was hungry for more.

What was going on? What was the brown brute saying to her? Whatever it was Koka had the very distinct feeling that it wasn't any kind of friendly greeting. The murderous intent in his eyes was more than enough to make the lioness climb to all fours and prepare herself for a fight. Until another lion stepped up.

The lioness glared at the overly large bird. Her anger at it, and the fact that it was fairly creepy to look at thanks to it's extra eye gave cause for lioness to growl at it. She'd be damned if she let that thing sink it's talons into her.

The lionesses attention was pulled back to the lions when again she heard more of that strange language! Koka nearly screamed with frustration! What in the world was being said? Was this lion a savior or just another who wanted to spill her blood. Either way, she knew she was in a tough position with an entire pride near her.

Ah...a little spat between the two? Maybe this blue male was going to be her savior. Perfect. then all she'd have to do is get to the tall grasses and she'd disappear from sight. As much as she respected all of these lion's strength she had no intentions of meeting up with them again, visions be damned. Koka had to admit, it was certainly interesting to know that an immortal was anything but.

And then...the brown male walked away and the blue one stated she'd be getting away with her life. Perfect. Though she would have loved to see that brown lion try to kill her.

And then a single word made Koka's eyes flash in disbelief and anger. "Slave?!" She growled out. She practically bristled at the mere thought. How dare they think she'd be a slave for them! She was of royal blood and touched by the Gods! Only the weak deserved such a title!

Her body coiled and tensed. She was ready to fight her way to freedom. All it would take to grant her freedom was to take care of this male.

But then realization kicked in. She was practically surrounded and very much outnumbered. This lion in front of her would take some time to kill and before she could even get close to achieving that goal the rest of the pride, or even just that brown brute, would finish her off. Koka had no real choice in this matter. Not at this moment, anyway.

With a final growl and a flash of her teeth the lioness forcibly relaxed herself as a sign of submission. But this submission was merely a show for her. An act, so to say. All she needed was some time and she'd get away. She could bide her time. She'd done it before.

[Closing Note]

Thank you all so, so much for creating a dramatic end for Rokopelli. I couldn't have done it without you and it means a lot.

I will also note that this ORP was actually part 1 of a two part plot. The second part will be made available as soon as possible and you will all be informed so you can take part in that one if you wish to do so.

Without giving too much away, their journey back to their settlement may not be as smooth as they would like it to be. Some pesky individuals may have caught wind of their rough location.

[Raffle Time]
As we did not quite reach 4 pages of RP there is only one raffle prize up for grabs today. The winner rolled may keep the prize or they may gift away to a Nergui newbie if they so desire.

As some of you may also have noticed, the other give-away was not rescued during the event. More info to come on this in the following post.
