Kaveh wanted to find the cubs fast because the cold war getting to him. If he was going to spend an hour in the frost he would be a popsicle. A popsicle couldn't be a hero. He couldn't give up though because he wouldn't be a hero at all. He would take popsicle hero over nothing.
He would bear for the chance to be a hero...as well as the children. Kaveh began to call out for them. "Cubs...cubs!" He figured just looking wouldn't get him any where. If he called out to then maybe they would follow his voice. Then again they might run away.

Hearing no reply and seeing no conveniently lost cub nearby, Hans continued his trek into the trees, going a little deeper in the cover, but keeping the lake in sight. He continued to call out in a strong voice, his ears straining for any reply.
He truly hoped the cub would be found soon, even if it wasn't by him. It was getting extremely cold outside and he was growing weary, even with his impressive stamina and physique.
"Please come out, your parents are very worried!"

Ezen finally pushed himself up after a few minute of this 'lay in wait' tactic. He blew his mane out of his face and lumbered to his feet slowly, as if he were as heavy as the mountains that surrounded their pride. He looked this way and that before moving, deciding to check the overlook by the lake. Perhaps the cub was looking down at all the search efforts and laughing like a little-
Well. A not nice word.
Ezen grimly climbed the hill to the top, hoping he wouldn't find the cub up here. That would be ironically funny in a not funny way.

Kaveh continued on his money journey. He had just revived the news that one of the cubs had been found. He had thought that the cubs would have been together. He was wrong though the other was still missing. He heard people yelling out for the cub all over the place.
He found it hard to believe the cub hadn't heard any of the noise. He figured the cub must have been asleep. That would explain why he wasn't responding. Kaveh began to think about where the most comfortable place to sleep would be.

Continuing his cold and sodden trek through the trees, all that Hans could hear with the calls of the other searchers. There was no sign of the missing cub, none at all! How could one cub have gotten so very lost so quickly?
He'd heard no sign that the searchers elsewhere were successful, though he began to doubt that the cub had come this way at all. It was far more likely that the other cub was somewhere in the vicinity of where the first cub had been located, though he was sure there were already plenty of searchers scouring that area.
So, he kept at it, wondering how much longer this search would take.

It had taken a few moments of indecision and Mzimu was off again, searching in a different spot. Perhaps he should be the one to venture further in, but he wouldn't be able to pull himself back out if he did manage to fall in. Still, his stamina was high. If he could get the cub up to the surface, someone else would be able to fetch them.
Ohhh, what was he going to do!

Nope. No cub. This was getting a little silly. Ezen sat down atop the hill, one of his favorite lookout spots, and turned to face the pride. Others were still searching which let him know that they hadn't found the cub yet, but he was getting tired with all this walking. Maybe he could just sit here and keep an eye out, and if he saw a little green cub moving around in places she shouldn't be, then he could get her. Yes, this tactic was much better.

Kaveh gasped maybe the cub couldn't hear. That was why he didn't respond because he couldn't hear anything. Kaveh's ears lower slightly at the thought of it. He wished it wasn't true. It was most likely just his wild imagination getting the best of him once again.
He called out again. "Cub...where are you?" Still no response. Maybe if he knew the cubs name he would respond. How was he supposed to know what it was though. He couldn't just guess random names that would be horrible. He continued to look around as he thought.

Trees, trees, trees as far as the eyes could see. Covered in thick layers of snow. Hans was even beginning to look as disgruntled as he felt, though he was always fastidious in maintaining a handsome figure. This search was becoming exhausting.
There was still no sign of the missing cub. The break in the ice was sounding more and more likely, thought Hans dispassionately. He decided to continue through the trees for a little longer and then he would head back and resume searching the lake. There was no signs of life or any other presence out in these tall trees.

Ezen also got a good view of the others that were out searching. They looked frantic, but was there any reason for them to be? Certainly not. The cub couldn't have left the island and he was sure she'd be found sooner rather than later. Wherever she was she'd probably fallen asleep and was having a lovely dream about being princess.
Or something. Is that what little cubs dreamed about?

Mzimu took a shaky step out onto the ice of the lake, deliberation within his very bones. He was so nervous he felt ill, but the cub was light - it could make it further into the ice-path than any of the adults probably could.
He couldn't quite see all the way across the lake from here either, so perhaps the cub was stuck shaking in the middle, even if it hadn't fallen in. "It's okay, little one, I'm coming if you're there," he said mostly to himself as he shuffled along the surface.

Matunda was a bit late to the party, as usual. She was the type who liked spending her days in solitude, so if anything was going on, it took a while for it to each her ears.
The leopard noticed a large gathering of pride members, so she made her way over to see what was going on. Apparently everyone was out looking for cubs? Bah, cubs. She wasn't fond of children.
Still, she supposed it would be tragic if something happened to them. So she followed some of the others, hoping to see some kind of clue as to where they might be hiding.

Kaveh sighed he was running out of energy. The cub should have been found by now. He still couldn't his search. He felt like it was desperate. What if the cub had already been found and he was still searching. What if the cub had turned to his parents already.
The only reason he knew the cub was still lost was because no one was heading back. The only person the headed back was the one who found the other cub. He felt close thought. He knew someone was going to find the cub soon.

When the terrain was becoming difficult for even a lion of Hans' stature, he knew it was time to turn back. There was no way a young cub could have made it through an area like this. Turning, he made his way back to the frozen expanse of the lake.
He noticed other searchers nearby and nodded gravely to them before he continued his search around the perimeter of the lake.
He refused to quit his search. Even if it exhausted him, he would be the last one searching until the cub was found.

Matunda noticed that some of the creatures gathered were taking a particular interest in the lake. Heh, wouldn't it just be like a cub, to go wander out there and drown itself? The ice in this weather wouldn't be able to support much weight, but it could still be strong enough to support a cub.
So, if the cub had truly gone out there, wouldn't it be unwise to test the strength of the ice? If it broke under an adult's weight, it might shatter the entire surface.
Matunda didn't feel like swimming, so she chose to linger by the shore, peeking among the rocks and the rough grasses that grew around it.
