I understand cb being jerks e.e kind of the norm, and the dmca against tektek has a lot of people ticked off. Sucks that your bf is being an a*****e though >:

well tektek isn't a part of gaia its a site that has been stealing data from gaia and by you using the feature of using items from your inventory there's a risk users could get hacked. plush by them adding gaia items on there and stuff their site is braking copy righting rules. neutral

Yes and no. Tektek was a fan made site to provide services to assist users in ways that gaiaonline has for years not done, and arguably hasn't bothered to because Tektek has pretty much had it covered.

There's no risk for a user to get hacked as a result of tektek as any pertinent user data can't be mined from the inventory analyzer.

Tektek was also a non profit site.

The reason gaia seems to have had an issue now is most likely a result of reduced revenue and a false correlation of lower users and revenue and tekton (who owns tektek) advertising his own avi site (he's advertised others in the past).

As it stands tektek has been around for ~11 years sometime this year. If gaia had a legal standing to take them down they'd have done it way before now, and yes they have known about tektek's existence pretty much since its inception.

It was even added to the Welcoming Fairy welcome message as a fan made resource to assist with Gaia Online. This is pertinent to a conducive argument because the Welcoming Fairy is an automated program, and sends a pre-made message to users without any interaction with the entity. Gaia had effectively and arguably endorsed the usage of TekTek by GaiaOnline users. I believe Gaia even made an entire forum area for people to post forums looking for tektek assistance.
