The curtains parted and in that decisive moment, Kagerou… was right where she needed to be. No distraught Kumotake today. The medic had arrived on time. She even got to enjoy the last bit of Miki’s match, and of course she was there listening to Kumotake’s narration as best as she could. She wondered if that was really his family story because, well, the reason seemed so silly and minor. Regardless, while part of this whole scheme was to make Kagerou understand, to the born and raised kunoichi, she knew that there were more pressing priorities. Specifically, she needed to be on the watch for any cues she was given about how to proceed in the play, so when the insects formed the shape of a curtain and a lone insect approached her, Kagerou understood.
The parting curtains revealed a Kagerou who stood in clothes and hair transformed with ninja magic (read: henge) to look a little more princess-like. A pretty red dress with laces and frills seemed like appropriate play princess wear, and of course longer hair was a must with a strange twist by tying it together with a pretty ribbon in the front rather than the back. Heels were in no way combat oriented and she didn’t want to look silly by fighting in them, but Kagerou met in the middle ground by transforming her active footwear into sophisticated mary janes. In her hands she held a single fan, borrowed from the equipment that the arena leased to shinobi training or performing in the area. The metal fan’s practical design clashed with the outfit, but it would have to do.
As for her expression, it looked very surprised and a bit scared. All in all, not a bit princess-like. There was no way she could have expected to be stared down by a evil-looking humanoid mass of buzzing bugs as soon as she was introduced to the stage. Wasn’t this a bit too sudden, anyways? Shocked, she blinked in stunned silence as her mind tried to furiously think. What should she do? How should she act?
Kagerou sucked at acting.
She at least had enough professionalism to not eh and um as she searched for improv lines. However, all that meant was that there was a very vacant stretch of silence before she finally did think of something. She brilliantly (not) resolved the first of many hurdles with a very smooth and calm, ”Hello, mother. What… uh… What red eyes you have?”.
Wrong story, dammit. Wrong. Story. Not even the right relative. Kumotake was going to regret thiiiiis… [1]

Kumotake readily awaiting some form of Miki attempting to make reason with the mother whom was now captor received something else entirely. That is, what he received was an old played out line from a popular fairy tale. Kumotake cringed internally. She certainly was not kidding about poor acting skills, what form of questioning as to why you're imprisoned is inquiring about the sudden oddness of your captors eyes. No matter Kumotake would just have to play off of this addressing the crowd once more who were already starting to portray looks of confusion. "RED EYES INDEED THE PRINCESS DID SEE! EYES FILLED WITH HATRED AND CONTEMPT FOR THE DAUGHTER SHE NO LONGER LOVED! ANOTHER NIGHT SHE WOULD FIND NO FOOD UPON WHICH TO FILL HER BELLY! A DISH OF WATER UNFIT FOR EVEN DOG WAS ALL SHE WAS GIVEN. THE MOTHER NO ANSWER DID COME FROM HER LIPS, AND AGAIN SHE LEFT THE YOUTH TO ROT AWAY IN THE DUNGEONS DEPTHS."
The amorphous insects dubbed Kumotake's mother would then melt into a puddle briefly. As everything seemed to calm down momentarily. "HOWEVER! THIS WOULD NOT BE THE LAST SHE WOULD SEE OF HER! FOR YOU SEE THE QUEEN COME NIGHT FALL BECAME EVEN MORE MONSTROUS! THE PRINCESS EACH NIGHT WOULD HAVE TO FEND OFF THE QUEENS WICKED ASSAULTS! NO MATTER HOW MUCH SHE WOULD 'PLEAD' THE QUEENS RAGE DID NOT CALM!" Kumotake placing extra emphasis on the word 'plead' as to what Kagerou would be pleading for that would be reliant on her acting skills but it seemed rather obvious. As from the puddle where the queen once stood looking at Kumotake more insects skittered across the floor adding to it. The newly formed mother would then begin to assail Kagerou with large palms bearing talons, where a mouth would be would split to form a maw splitting apart like stitches forcefully being torn. A makeshift scream made with the buzzing of the Kikaichu. This both scared some of the crowd and excited others. Finally some action. While the insects had form and coordination Kumotake hadn't trained them for an offensive purpose such as this. While they could endure a hit thanks to their hosts infusion of chakra it didn't mean they could dish out a hit without the proper training. How Kagerou dealt with blows would again be up to her acting. For the most part though they did look intimidating. These two palms would come down bearing a ferocity and pressure to them, despite the fact if they did make contact with Kagerou they'd prove to leave behind pitiable damage. {Attacks are Treated as E} [Performance Duels RPC 2/4]

Sukoso: 1 Posts: Irritation, 3 Posts Arrhythmia, 5 Posts Skyrocketing Blood Pressure Potential Fainting, 7 Posts Heart Attack, 9 Posts Death > • One Among Many: Sukoso and Kumotake had shared a bond so close that Sukoso sought a way to stand out from the other spiders and demonstrate it's strength to compensate for Kumotake's weak demeanor in the face of danger and abuse. The result was Sukoso freely able to manipulate it's size among three categories. Minuscule enough to retreat into Kumotake's body which was it's original form, slightly larger as a normal spider, and finally large enough to be ridden. It takes a full post to change in size, There's a cooldown of at least 1 full post, must be in physical contact.
•Adhesive Pores: Kumotake can now crawl or crabwalk creepily on all fours. When doing so he can climb flat surfaces and cling without the need for the water walking jutsu. Still, this is incredibly slow and inefficient for any purpose other than stealth. It's also incredibly unsettling to watch.
>Arach-nightmaria: Kumotake's Kikaichu having quite possibly absorbed the adverse twisted chakras of the former hellscape and now have, in their genetics, chakra traces of the beings who had once resided in the nightmare. Having evolved from the hellish ordeal placed upon them and unknowingly carrying terror within their genealogy they have developed the ability to produce fear inducing Genjutsu at the will of their host acting as the conduit for the molding of the necessary chakra rather than hand signs.

The emblem of a jagged spider sewn on the backsides while the palms contain what appear to be the equivalent of small hole like pores. The gloves when worn treat the wearer's hands as if they were complex for interactions with ninjutsu. The gloves allow interaction with chakra structures and the pores on the gloves themselves can produce threading from each fingertip. The threading can then attach to structures allowing them to be manipulated by pulling them. These threads are not unlike chakra threads in strength but are clearly visible. When finger tips are brought together the produced threads can fuse into one leading to garrote wire like executions.

Kagerou wondered as Kumotake kind of shoehorned the plot forwards and past her little blunder. Good thinking on his part, really. There was only one complaint Kagerou had, . Her distress at being rather useless at acting showed clearly on her face, which worked out since the princess was in quite a distressing situation, as Kagerou tried to think, think, and think of what she was supposed to do know.
She had quickly acknowledged that acting was not going to work. In that case, was the way to go, . It was easy for Kagerou to answer that question, unexpectedly easy for most who knew her. A hard glint briefly passed through her eyes as Kumotake finished setting the scene. Kagerou would do everything in her power to ensure that her mother would ever feel the need to but if… just in case if… that day came and her mother chose to kill her, then wasn’t the answer obvious?
The first step was to stay alive. Kagerou flinched as the Kikaichu that formed “mother” collectively screamed at her, reminding her, that she needed to be mindful about hurting them. In the meantime, the first attack was already descending towards her. She would need to dodge and “plead,” as Kumotake put it, in one fluid motion.
Kagerou struck to defend, bringing her hands up in an exaggerated rejection of the kikaichu hands, bells that had been previously silenced shining and ringing vibrantly. The timing was perfect, just as the hands encroached within 5’ around her was when Kagerou thrust her hands out to both sides of her and shouted, ”Mother! No!”. Albeit, despite all the effort and last-minute thought put into it, her shout was quite monotone. However, the shouting wasn’t that important. What was important was that the bells rang and the wind around her picked up in a circular motion to create a defensive tornado 10’ in diameter, the effects of Kaze no Yoroi [ Armor of Wind ]. The tornado could repel B-rank shinobi, Kagerou felt safe in assuming that the buggy hands would be unable to penetrate the winds.
Unfortunately, her mind had let slip the important fact that the tornado was a… well… tornado. The bugs it intercepted that weren’t pushed away were integrated into its form, clouding the vision already clouded by any dust and dirt on the clear arena field. Not to mention, the noise interference was just horrible.
Fortunately, Kagerou winged a solution to the unforeseen problem almost immediately. With a fluourish, she twirled in the direction opposite of the tornado’s rotation, casting another Kaze no Yoroi to nullify the first because SCIENCE. It fit well. Dramatic block into a graceful spin that ended perfectly in a half curtsy with one hand lifting one end of her dress and the other hand held against her chest. Acting Kagerou couldn’t do. Performances aside from that, however, she had learned how to do very well.
Her head, lowered because of the curtsy end, raised and her posture straightened. Kagerou’s hands danced, first the hand holding her dress sweeping up to be held against her chest with the other and then both extending forward to beseech the bug mother with open hands. The bells heralded the cast of another technique, Jouho no Koe [ Voice of Compromise ]. All who heard Kagerou’s voice would feel compelled to agree. In a normal performance, such methods would be cheap and below Kagerou, but right now, this wasn’t a normal performance and Kagerou wasn’t just a performer. She was a kunoichi, and as had already been shown, the people watching were looking for a fight. When she wasn’t giving them a fight, she needed to invest their attention into the completely unwritten dialogue in some way.
Kagerou took a deep breath and made sure to speak from her stomach, not her throat. Her voice carrying through the arena, she gave her plea, ”Mother, why?! Please. Please… I beg you. Do not be tormented by the past. Would this pain and suffering. Would my death truly solve anything? Please return… No. Uh… Mother, I do not wish to fight you! I would rather comfort you!” and in a whisper to herself, ”Is that how I should go? Yeah, let’s go with that.” Kagerou spoke well, her words clear and easy to understand. However, her words still bore the burden of someone who could not act. She spoke in a monotone that did little to convince anyone that she was a foolish princess and not an actor pretending to be a foolish princess. Not to mention, her awkward pauses and that one stumble when she edited what she had just said. [1/3 Jouho no Koe] [2/x Perfomance Duel]

This technique does not affect the sound of the user’s voice directly, but rather affects how any listeners hear the message. While using this technique, anything the user says will be perceived by listeners as a positive message. It can have numerous effects, such as endearing the speaker to his audience. The power of this Jutsu is quite limited, however. It tends to have very little effect on established enemies, or people in a high state of emotion, although it has been known to calm down agitated people.

Kumotake's insects indeed did disperse. Kumotake's eyes closed momentarily as he had already accepted that this was their desire. He did not enjoy putting his Kikaichu at risk as each life held a significance but they made themselves clear long ago during the war which was many many months ago, to die in the field, to die in battle, to savor the taste of chakra's aside from their hosts to perish fulfilled knowing the next in line will carry on their will, their, genes, their desires that is what they truly longed for, not to die idly generation over generation having no stories to tell. So it came off as strange...that none perished. "Tch" a simple mumble unto himself. As he opened his eyes to begin narration once more. She didn't have to restrain herself for his sake...but...it was most certainly unspokenly appreciated.

Kumotake's Kikaichu having been spread apart by Kagerou's fierce winds re formed once more the talons gone and in its place a single arm with index finger pointed accusingly. Kumotake's voice shifted to one of more feminine design however it was only feminine in that it could be compared to a raspy old woman. "The Kingdom needs to know it's heir is alive. Less I lose my precious throne. I merely am reminding you of your place as I always have!"
Kumotake would again produce another wave of Kikaichu. In tandem with his narration the queen disassembled itself reassembling itself as balconies, carriages, and a throne,around Kagerou with the others child sized crowds of people formed moving and shifting. "A VENOMOUS REMINDER OF THE PRINCESSES DAYS! FOR YOU SEE! WHILE HER NIGHTS WERE SPENT IN DUNGEONS DESPAIRED HER PEOPLE KNEW NOT OF HER PLIGHT! COME DAWN BY FORCE, SHE'D BE PARADED AS WELL! ADDRESSING HER SUBJECTS DESPITE HER LIFE BEING HELL! SHE FORCED A SMILE! SHE MUST! LESS SHE RECEIVE ALL THE MORE PAIN WITH THE COMING OF DUSK!" Kumotake left Kagerou to fill the roles of what exactly a princess would say to address her people in the multiple instances of his Kikaichu's transformation. Ideally with the inclinations of awkwardness that would come from having to maintain a facade that your mother beats you senseless and keeps you in a dungeon.
Kagerou's Genjutsu was certainly making the crowd feel bad for her all the while making them resent the insects being called 'queen' all the more. Those that wanted a fight more so wanted to a see the death of a rather specific individual. "OF COURSE I'M SURE YOU'RE ASKING WILL SOMEONE COME TO THE PRINCESSES AID! CERTAINLY NOT ALL WOULD FALL FOR THE QUEENS TWISTED RUSE! IN THAT YOU'D BE RIGHT! FOR THIS IS THE PART WHERE OUR PRINCESS FINDS HER HERO AMIDST THE DARKNESS! Kumotake would point inadvertently at the patiently waiting Kenshin panting from all his narration and a bead of sweat from what may have spawned from desperation. This finger then moved across the stands to Miki and then traveled around with lack of sureness. He didn't assume he'd have gotten this far. If Kumotake honestly kept up what he was doing now for all the other acting parts he'd be stretched incredibly thin. Tch, honestly, nobody signed up for the other roles, it's not like his play was completely out of nowhere or anything. He had to resort to volunteers. Hoping that Kagerou could buy time filling in the 'addressing her people' scene with enough fluff. If he declined it would certainly be awkward but he'd find a way to recover...somehow. After all he was somehow balancing Kagerou's bad acting with improvised justifications. Sukoso's sleep cycle was almost over but honestly the tamer was uncertain how keen his partner would be about this play. [Performance Duels RPC 3/4]

•Adhesive Pores: Kumotake can now crawl or crabwalk creepily on all fours. When doing so he can climb flat surfaces and cling without the need for the water walking jutsu. Still, this is incredibly slow and inefficient for any purpose other than stealth. It's also incredibly unsettling to watch.

The emblem of a jagged spider sewn on the backsides while the palms contain what appear to be the equivalent of small hole like pores. The gloves when worn treat the wearer's hands as if they were complex for interactions with ninjutsu. The gloves allow interaction with chakra structures and the pores on the gloves themselves can produce threading from each fingertip. The threading can then attach to structures allowing them to be manipulated by pulling them. These threads are not unlike chakra threads in strength but are clearly visible. When finger tips are brought together the produced threads can fuse into one leading to garrote wire like executions.

As the queen disassembled, Kagerou pleaded once more, ”Mother! Please!... I just… want your love…”
The next part sounded nothing like what Kagerou’s mother would say, and so she lost the thin lifeline she had just found. Good thing Kumotake basically gave her instructions. Kagerou did her best to force a smile, by which she did her best to make a smile and then make it look forced. Something like straining the muscles really hard and not smiling with her eyes. For about a moment, there was a really weird smile on Kagerou’s face before she gave up and just smiled naturally because, well, the princess was really good at pretending a smile. Yes, that was it.
She… uh… waved like a princess should or something like that. As to what a princess would say, Kagerou thought that maybe something publicly addressed to the people but actually addressed to her mother, and by extension to Kumotake, would be best.
She tried ad libbing it, ”Citizens, fellow countrymen and women, I am glad to see your faces.”
Kagerou tried her hardest to make this speech last and hold the crowd’s attention, She could see in the corner of her eye that Kumotake looked a little stressed. No, even without that, he was handling all these special effects himself. Wouldn’t that be taking a lot out of him? How much longer could he hold on? Was there anything Kagerou could do from the other side to pick up slack?
Until she thought of anything, she’d focus on being a better talker, ”Good morning. I hope you have all slept well. Let us pray for another blessed day, today, and I hope that you may all do one thing for me this morning. Turn to someone you cherish and let them know that you love them. You don’t know when it will mean the world to them, become the light at the end of a long, dark tunnel. Love is such a valuable treasure, waste it not in the dark and let not pain and anger swallow it whole. No matter how hard it be, I plead you all to give love a chance. After all, the warmth of love is no doubt better than the cold of hate. Hate brings about only more hate, be it for the one who caused it, one who is innocent, or… for yourself. For the most part, Kagerou had been good about shifting her eye contact, starting with the bug audience to build the setting and eventually sweeping over the human audience equally to bring them into the story by the midway point of the speech. However, at one particular point, when she said, “for yourself,” Kagerou made it a point to look straight at Kumotake. Although, as he was rather occupied with finding more participants, he probably missed the chance to briefly lock eyes because it really was just for a couple of seconds that Kagerou let her gaze linger on Kumotake before returning to sweep the crowd.
Regarding the other parts that integrated to form the complete art of speech, Kagerou performed quite well. Her gestures were on point, showcasing and emphasizing in a way that elegantly animated the speech without appearing silly. Her acting was terrible still, so it lacked pretty much any of that hidden pain thing Kumotake wanted, but hopefully the Kagerou choosing to speak of love in the face of hate would fill in for that. Regardless, her genjutsu was still in effect. The crowd should still feel inclined to feel sympathetic towards her. [2/3 Jouho no Koe] [3/x Perfomance Duel]

Severin made his way to the arena, quickly taking a seat amongst the many others to watch the show in front of him. He didn't know much about Kagerou, but it hadn't struck him that she would be a performer; shows how good his judgement was some times. He watched from the sidelines, his ice blue eyes fixed on the scene in front of him. The expression of cautious curiosity didn't change or fade from his face, despite the emotions the genjutsu caused him. He was trained in facial expressions, one has to be careful in high society with what their face betrays. It made him quite good at poker, despite the fact that it caused him to bubble up his emotions till it exploded. The male moved his hands, clasping them together and resting his elbows on the seat before him, before resting his chin on his joined fingers. Part of him mused if some of the words Kagerou were speaking came from the heart, most artists did better when they had personal experience with their source material.

The description given to Kyōiku was brief and curt, ending with a small postscript of 'you'll know him when you see him. All synonyms of 'tightly wound' apply.' And the Mizukage was right. Kenshin Kosei stood with his back so straight that Kyōiku's black eyes briefly flashed over the Genin's backside, looking for the pole that might have been attached to it. Or shoved up it. With a puff of air being sharply expelled through his nose, the man known only as Kyōiku approached the wanna-be Anbu officer. He was late - quite late, and deliberately so. It was something Kyōiku would beat his 'students' for, but this particular case... After reading the file, the personality notes, the extra slip of paper written by the Mizukage Godaime himself, even a copy of Kenshin's report of his last mission. Kyōiku knew that this kid was going to need a different hand from Kyōiku to get the type of soldier needed for such a title as Anbu...
"Keep standing like that and birds will roost on you, Kenshin Kosei." Kyōiku spoke with a disaproving tone. Kenshin would learn quickly that's Kyōiku's tone never changed from it. "I am the liason between the Chuunin and Jounin Commanders, the only one who will be giving the first stamp of approval for your desired Anbu career track. Without my say-so, you'll remain as you are until you improve or give up." He informs, a hand lifting to fix his already immaculate hair. Peeking up from his shirt was a brand - the Fuuin all Kiri nin require. With his head tilted back, Kyōiku looked down his nose at Kenshin as a small, viscious smirk came across his lips.
"Should you agree to train under me, Kosei, I will make you break your own beliefs so you can be whatever a Mizukage could ever want from you. Do you understand? Kosei. You will break and ignore laws to hold this village up from harm. You will commit crimes and frame our enemies so this village will prosper. You will lie and steal." Kyōiku's head tilts down and he is staring over the top frame of his glasses. There was usually more to this speech, the threat of pain and poisons, but the profile on this particular individual indicated him to be the self-sacrificing sort already. So, Kyōiku deliberately focused on the noted idea that would - hopefully - get the most negative reaction from Kenshin. Raised by upholders of justice, his tight leash on what is appropriate and right..
"Do you pay the price?" This was it. No point in training the kid ïn anything if this mental obstacle of 'justice' was still in the way.

__ Kenshin stood at attention as he heard the initial words of his company. He listened closely to all that was said by the officer and he appeared to be who he claimed he was at least. The future policeman quickly ascertained that this man had a full report regarding himself. That was to be expected, he needed the proper information if he was going to train the lawman. The guardian's face was resolute and carved by duty as he listened. His back remained straight, his uniform pristine, and his eyes piercing. It took Kenshin several moments before he could formulate a response. "Break the law? Become a mere criminal? Lying?" It was as if Kenshin's psyche had been pried open by this man. It was paralysing and jerking, like a touched nerve.
With respect to the man's authority, he spoke. "Thank you for seeing me, sir. I don't know why you're asking me if I will train with you. The Lord Mizukage ordered me to do so and I will follow his order." His voice was strong, determined, unbroken in its determination. Despite his demeanour, he was still morally shaken at the foundation by the concept of breaking the law to complete his duty. "When I'm a Police Force ANBU I will clean up the streets and guard the people. Thieves, murderers, degenerates. I will follow where they go, I will learn their little secrets, I will know the things they know, I will defeat them, I will see them in prison." His words were piercing, exact, as if reciting his future duties from a page. Kenshin did not seem human at this moment and more as a machine of justice.
Becoming an officer of the law was finally within his grasp and he would not allow it to slip through his fingers. "This is my birth's redemption." The salvation of the sin of his birth was on the horizon. "There is no morality outside of duty and the law." He said to his superior,but he spoke almost angrily and into his collar. It was more of a comforting statement for his own self as opposed to what he absolutely needed to say,although it was, of course, audible to the other raven haired man. "I will join the Police Force ANBU, I will never give up. Only death could stop me." His voice was stern and sincere as he stared straight into his eyes. Kenshin was ready, was he?

Damn the internal utterance within the boys inner monologues. Kumotake thus had no choice. He couldn't keep the crowd waiting much longer. Kagerou's speech was coming to an end. Fine. He readied himself for further narration. Kagerou's final words seemed targeted towards him specifically he didn't need to turn to face her to know. It was the sudden sharpness in her tone when it came to his particular direction. Hate, it was more than that. Or...was it? A tiny thread would start to fray inside Kumotake's psyche but the thread still held strong. Kagerou's Genjutsu however was aiding in her attempts to break through to Kumotake's otherwise nihilistic nature. That's right there was no more time to think. "AGAIN WE RETURN TO THE DUNGEON ONCEMORE WHERE THE BELOVED PRINCESS LAY WITHERING AWAY FROM HUNGER! Kumotake formed a collection of hand signs acting on memory of some of the simplest Genjutsu to set the stage. It seemed Kumotake decided to play his own hand in the Genjutsu department. To aid in Kagerou's acting and in attempt to show her his suffering Kagerou would find herself not in a dungeon but a small dimly lit room. The room was small, there was a bed but the sheets looked far from clean. In fact in short the room itself was far from clean in any sense of the word. The crowd would not see what she would, nor would they smell what she would. A scent permeated through the air not unlike ammonia. A genjutsu which only primarily affected ones sight would assail her nostrils. While unable to interact with a small pool of liquid on the floor their tint and smell made it known to be not else but urine. The living conditions of the 'princess' seemed to be lacking in lavatory one could only imagine what form of hell came from such conditions. The crowd would be visible as if looking through a skyline surrounding her as a familiar cloud of black buzzing awaited to take shape in front of her.
Kumotake needed only to make but one hand sign. The serpent as he recalled. Another technique within the the long list of jutsu branded Demonic illusions. Kumotake's face grew complacent for a moment as he closed his eyes. Was what he was about to do okay? She needed to know, it was not just hatred that molded him into what he was, it was also an ever-present FEAR. It was fear that his Kikaichu had adapted to and it was this fear they would produce without the need of any hand sign as they felt the will of their host. The black mass again coalesced into the form of the queen whose eyes matched Kagerou's for the moment where all seemed well briefly as Kumotake continued to narrate. "AS THE EVIL QUEEN GREW NEARER WHAT WICKED THINGS HAD SHE PLANNED TO DO UNTO HER CHILD ONCE MORE? A MERE GAZE FROM HER TAINTED EYES TOLD THE PRINCESS EVERYTHING!"
Then the illusion would then strike in the place of Kumotake's former black mass Kagerou's birth mother but something was most certainly wrong. Their faces obscenely close to one another. The scent of alcohol escaped the illusory mothers mouth as she opened them in a sultry manner with eyes like that of beast, not a rabid beast, no, a beast in heat. The right hand of the false maternal figure growing closer to Kagerou's cheek while the other slowly drifted south and closer yet there was nothing inferring a request for consent in these eyes and then the illusion was over.
"SHE WOULD SEE TRULY TERRIBLE THINGS IN THOSE EYES OF HERS! MUTILATION? TORTURE? BRUTALITY! YES, THE QUEEN NEEDN'T DO ANYTHING TO THE ABANDONED PRINCESS AS SHE WOULD 'WEEP' FOR SHE KNEW WHATEVER WAS TO COME SHE WOULD BE FORCED TO ENDURE WHILST HER SUBJECTS WERE NONE THE WISER!" Kumotake placing emphasis that this was where Kagerou would need to begin to fake cry for the scene and likely the audience would share in this sadness. Then Kumotake's narration paused briefly. He was in this time biting his lower lip, and only with sharpest of visions would one see a single shed tear. However, this silence would be used as gateway to rally suspense for what he said next as Kumotake continued to dawn the enthusiastic mask of a narrator.
"ALL BUT ONE THAT IS! FOR IN THE DARKNESS OF THE DUNGEON A SINGLE STONE HAD TURNED WHILST THE QUEEN WAS AWAY! FROM THE CELL NEXT TO HER OWN. A KNIGHT WHOM HAD BEEN IMPRISONED FOR TREASON AROSE FROM THE DARKNESS ! WITH GALLANT REASSURANCES FOR THE PRINCESS THAT HE WOULD MOST CERTAINLY SEE TO HER FREEDOM!" With a wave of his hand Kumotake's Kikaichu dispersed yet again only this time they would reform and take shape into a tall thin individual clad in white armor where nothing but the eyes were visible. In all senses this was indeed a clone of Kumotake made from his Kikaichu no doubt tasking the boy even further. The scene setting Kikaichu would form a wall between Kagerou and the clone where they would part to form a small slit. The clone would then speak in an echoing concerned voice.
"I can no longer sit idly by and let the queen treat you so cruelly. I will aid you in whatever manner I can milady even if it means my execution!""FROM THEN ON THE CONCERNED KNIGHT WOULD SHARE HIS RATIONS WITH THE CONFINED PRINCESS THROUGH THE TURNED STONE! HE WOULD KEEP HER ENTERTAINED THROUGHOUT THE NIGHT WITH STORIES OF HIS PAST ADVENTURES! DISTRACT THE EVIL QUEEN TO TAKE HER SUFFERING UNTO HIMSELF! HE WOULD EVEN TEND TO HER INJURIES WHAT BEST HE COULD! IT WAS NOT LONG BEFORE THE PRINCESS AND THE KNIGHT HAD FALLEN DEEPLY IN LOVE WITH ONE ANOTHER! EACH PASSING DAY HE WOULD PROMISE HER THEIR FREEDOM! AS EACH DAY HE WOULD TURN ANOTHER STONE UNTIL FINALLY THE TWO OF THEM WERE UNITED!" The wall of Kikaichu thusly crumbled and the clone of Kumotake would get on one knee and present his hand to his beloved.
"I am certain today will be the day we need only escape before the queen return!" Kumotake's voice took a somber turn in the following narration. "Despite the knights reassurances however, the Princess knew she would be of no help. With her injuries she was far too weak to be of any aid as she began to doubt herself she began to wonder if the Knight perhaps would have been better off without her. But then a voice came from the iron bars yonder." Suddenly Kumotake's finger shot upwards again another attempt at calling in someone to fill a role. "A PUCKISH ROGUE WHOM HAD NO REASON TO BE WITHIN THE CASTLE WALLS HAD EYES FOR THE PRINCESS HIMSELF! AFTER 'CONFESSING' WITH ALL OF HIS HEART HE HAD ALREADY BEGUN PICKING THE LOCK OF THE CELL! ALTHOUGH UNBEKNOWNST TO THE PRINCESS...THE EYES OF OUR KNIGHT HAD ALREADY BEGUN TURNING GREEN!" The puckish rogue would clearly have to enter with some form of confession for the princess.

The emblem of a jagged spider sewn on the backsides while the palms contain what appear to be the equivalent of small hole like pores. The gloves when worn treat the wearer's hands as if they were complex for interactions with ninjutsu. The gloves allow interaction with chakra structures and the pores on the gloves themselves can produce threading from each fingertip. The threading can then attach to structures allowing them to be manipulated by pulling them. These threads are not unlike chakra threads in strength but are clearly visible. When finger tips are brought together the produced threads can fuse into one leading to garrote wire like executions.

The Raigyo's eyes blinked several times in pure confusion as the dark-haired male's finger fell upon him. With a soft sigh, Severin rose to his feet and made his way down the steps, letting his hair out of the tie it was in so that it could flow behind him. He knew much about acting, nobles acted all the time. Every breath, every movement, every glance to the side had it's own meanings. All the eyes in this section of the arena were on him now, and how could he blame them? The male made his way on to the stage, percise steps, percise movements. He was almost at home again, all he needed now was his father stumbling in drunk and it'd be like he was ten once more. Kneeling down before Kagerou, Severin began fiddling with something in the air, as if picking a lock.
"M'lady, I have been watching you for some time, waiting for the right moment to strike. Your beauty knows no bounds, and neither does your stength! Each punishment you endured you stood, unyeilding to such a horrid woman... how could a man not pledge his very heart and soul to you?" Severin looked up at Kagerou, a half-cocked smirk on his face. "Through the protection of shadow and the blanket of the night I came to save you, my love." The words rolled off his tongue like he had said them a millions times, and he was sure he had. Severin's blue eyes, locked with Kagerou's, burned with amusement. He was not one usually for such theatrics, but he was thoroughly enjoying himself.

Kagerou was ready to assist. If Kumotake needed more time, she could break out in song. However, it appeared that would not need to be the case. Kumotake’s narration continue, reminding Kagerou that she was supposed to be feeble and weak. As best as she could, she represented the lack of strength by lowering herself to take a seat rather than standing proudly as she had when giving a speech. Around her, as she sat, the bugs shifted and the scenery changed. This time, it wasn’t something that could accomplished with differing formations of kikaichu alone. No, she was seeing and smelling what genuinely looked like some sort of dark and dank captive’s room. Kagerou had seated herself gracefully, but when the overpowering scent of who knows how many day’s worth of urine struck her nose, she was up in a flash and trying to teeter as far away from the scent as possible. Her hands covered her nose in an attempt to block the scent, but even the cover of her hands couldn’t conceal the disgust that crossed her face. Kagerou could guess what was happening, a genjutsu by Kumotake because she didn’t think he hated her so much that he would actually summon urine-infested quarters about her. She acknowledged that it was probably assisting her acting, but even then, she wondered if maybe she should try to kai out of the disgusting scene. It really was too uncomfortable.
However, there was no time for her to finalize her decision. The sound of skittering bugs, familiar to her by this point, drew her attention and Kagerou looked over to see what was being created now. For a moment, her vision was obscured by a swirl of leaves that just happened to form around her, but they fell away quickly, just in time to see the last details of the terrible queen being buzzed into place. Not just terrible. This time, terrifying as well. The genjutsu, playing upon her previous perception of the queen as her mother, morphed what should have been a faceless queen of terrible nature into the refined and elegant form of Kyoka Uchiha. A pleasantly polite smile graced the illusion mother’s lips, one that elicited in Kagerou the thoughts, but in the midst of this fear, she was unnaturally calm, The genjutsu did not just change the queen. What should have been atmospheric blobs of bugs now looked distinctly like the puppets of Kagerou’s mother, puppets that Kagerou could name and describe. They floated ominously in an activated state as they surrounded Kagerou, threatening her with their presence. With a serene face, insect-Kyoka stepped forwards and a hand gently stretched out, unassuming in appearance but Kagerou knew better. She had never seen her mother’s work, but her imagination could fill in the blanks, her mother’s approach led Kagerou further and further into the trap of puppets. Before long, Kagerou wouldn’t be able to do anything, an ideal position for interrogation… torture… or worse, just anything but death. Death would have been easier, and probably more merciful for both parties, the daughter being attack and the mother that attacked the daughter she loved.
”M-mother,” Kagerou cried out, but she did not weep. Not a tear was shed. Tears blocked her vision. In this important moment, when she had to remain strong, she could not allow the smallest obstacle that could be avoided. Suffice to say, Kagerou was barely paying attention to Kumotake’s narration. She heard it only in the way that it shaped the genjutsu in front of her, his words giving definite shape to the otherwise ambiguous movements of the bugs. Suffice to say, she had stopped searching for cues in his narration since he had placed the genjutsu on her. Kagerou reached out to her mother with a hand, even as she back further into the trap, ”Mother, please, don’t do this.” She gave a weak, pitiful smile, one that pitied the one she gave it to. As Kagerou’s hand grazed the collection of insects that made up her “mother,” ”To you or to me,” the genjutsu drew the end of her line. Kagerou back away no more, lest she wanted to be stabbed upon the puppets.
Kagerou knew that what she saw and smelled was just a genjutsu since the realization of her own insecurity. Well, that wasn’t completely accurate. Kagerou was only mostly certain that Kumotake had trapped her in a genjutsu for the play. She couldn’t completely reason out the possibility that her mother really had come to make a guest appearance. Even as her hand brushed across what felt like insects, the sensation of touch alone could have been caused by a genjutsu cast by her mother. Illusions were wonky like that. Well, it didn’t matter what was illusion and what was real. Kagerou was voluntarily trapped in Kumotake’s little genjutsu. Beneath the fear and deluge of other emotions she felt, she calmly understood that everything that caused those emotions was not real and that the falsehoods she experienced were helping her acting.
She was doing well with the illusion of her mother until the hand of buzzing insects finally reached her face. Kumotake’s narration struck at that same time, and as the reached Kagerou’s ears, the mental image of her mother changed and morphed. The words were vague in their intent, but Kumotake’s chakra were an honest mirror of the experience he was trying to play off. The… unnatural urges of the eyes of the bug-created figure behind the illusion spoke clearly to Kagerou. This kind of expression was not something she would ever expect her mother to do. The illusion of the mother shattered, and probably for the first time, Kagerou realized the true terror that Kumotake had to go through. Kagerou’s thoughts stuttered in disbelief and disgust as she tried to back further away, With her mother’s face replaced by a lusty she-wolf’s, so had the puppets disappeared, but it mattered little whether or not there was something encouraging Kagerou to stop. Kagerou ended up tripping and falling on her butt, anyways.
And that was when the illusion ended. Visibly shaken, Kagerou remained seated. Even though she was not immersed, she continued to only listen to Kumotake’s words like they were said by some faraway voice in the sky giving her impressions rather than specific details. She looked pale and scared. Strange how she was so much more okay with facing death at the hands of her mother than the final vision Kumotake’s illusion gave her. Perhaps it was because, in the end, her mother loved and cared for her, no matter what was done and whether she decided to choose the village over her own happiness. Which her? Well, that’s certainly a good question.
Even after all that, though, Kagerou did not cry. As shocked and frightened as she was, to the point that everything felt distant, she still had full faculty over her mind and actions. She did get the feeling from what she heard that she should be crying, though. One of Kagerou’s eyes twitched in a mini-flinch but she did the best she could. Still feeling distant from everything, Kagerou slowly buried her face in raised hands and took the posture of someone that could be weeping. Really, though, her breathing remained steady and her eyes remained open to stare into the darkness of her palms. Those few seconds just sitting and looking into nothing was enough time for Kagerou to recenter and refocus.
When she looked up from her hands right on cue with the mention of freedom, she was back to normal. She wasn’t smiling like normal, but that had more to do with what was appropriate for the play, something that she understood now more than ever, than it had to do with anything strange bugging her. Besides, the smile was quick to return the moment the play gave her a chance. After all, the message she needed to deliver was hope, perseverance, and forgiveness. When the knight clad in armor, a clone of Kumotake made from his Kikaichu, appeared, Kagerou replied to his words with a grateful smile. However, she did not speak during the first introduction, not when Kumotake kept on filling any silence that might have existed with his narration. She also did not speak in response to the Kumotake clone’s announcement that today was the day to escape for the same reason as before. She did stop smiling, though. The expression she had on was more neutral than doubtful in any particular way, but eh.
Once again, Kumotake’s finger reached out into the crowd. This time, it brought back a catch. Kagerou had been expecting Miki to step up, assuming she was still around. Instead, though, the one who descended as he unfurled his white locks was someone she had not expected to see… at all. She knew him, though, but only as one of the many injured after the Sero incident. He didn’t even talk much while she was tending him. That being said, she had not the slightest reason to believe that he was going to be a ninja… At least, she assumed he was one to be stepping into the arena like this.
Severin’s opening lines proved to be much better than Kagerou’s own. She could tell that he was a real performer, at least when it came to acting, because as little as she knew about doing the art herself, she knew how to identify quality work when she saw it. Never shy, her red eyes locked onto his blue without hesitation, his smirk returned with a face full of questions and a mild mixture of surprise and confusion. There was a slight tilt to her head, but she had unconsciously began smiling again, at once amused and in greeting to the surprise acquaintance.
Kagerou wondered, so lost for words but still trying so hard that she eked out, ”Why, thank you. I suppose now we really might escape even though I’m so weak that I can’t help.” She stood up, and realized that there was one more thing she knew she wanted to say. There was a message she needed to convey to Severin, who could not know the undertow this play had. ”Severin Raigyo,” she found a surer voice now that she had something she wanted to say, ”I did not expect to see you here. There is something I would like you and this good knight to know. While I have no recourse but to escape, I do not wish to hurt my mother. I wish… and it is a selfish wish, but I wish to only look forwards, and I fear the guilt of hurting my mother as I leave will only be a hindrance in my future. In fact, I honestly hope that my mother, the queen, will begin to heal now that the one she hates so much is gone.” Despite acting being a weak point for Kagerou, she seemed to be adept enough in the delivery of veiled messages. She even had the presence of mind to step back and tip into a modest curtsy, with one hand held over her chest, to complete the image of a princess asking for a favor.
If Kagerou was keeping track of time correctly, then her Jouho no Koe was due to expire about now. That wouldn’t do, though. She supplemented the genjutsu with extra chakra to continue its effects into the next few minutes. [3/3 Jouho no Koe] [4/x Perfomance Duel]

Harmful eiseijutsu cast in this manner is guaranteed to hit as long as the condition of sound is met, but it takes one post to manifest its effects. In that time, the technique can be nullified by matching the energy (chakra/stamina/whatever else) cost Kagerou paid to use the entire jutsu, including any extra costs for additions/modifications. Those afflicted by harmful eiseijutsu cast in this manner become aware that if they do not spend the required amount of chakra/stamina, then bad things will happen to their body. The target(s) will have a vague sense of how bad the damage will be, but do not know what exactly will happen.

Kyōiku blinked, peering down his nose with narrowed eyes and a grimace twisting his mouth into something disdainful. He remained deadly silent for several long, heavy seconds, lithe body tense as taught wire. "As you say." He finally relents, and the tension lessens in his body. "To even be considered, you have to earn some experience in the field first. And have your strength be of a suitable level before you'll be mentally hardened." He explained briefly. "Do you believe yourself trained in skills appropriate in espionage situations?" Kyōiku asked, arms crossed over his chest. "Anbu are highly prized by mission posters because discretion is a guarentee. The high price for sending you out into the field demands that you perform well. Failure to meet that; you'll rise no higher than Jounin. Admit your faults now before you ******** up and get someone killed - you in need of training before you undertake this mission?"

Takeda was fresh off of his training in the Dojo, feeling better than ever. Following his six months of training with Jack and Shadow, the young Jiongu never had time for himself to hone his abilities. Feeling stronger than ever, he knew that he was ready to take on anyone. His strength finally matched the way he carried himself. The boy wielding a greatsword too large for anyone's comfort approached the man just outside of the arena, able to hear the obnoxiously loud narration going on from where he stood. "This is where I show up to join the performance duels, yeah? Doesn't matter how many or how strong, I want to fight the best of what you can offer." The elder man seemed to have a look of longing before blowing out the pungent smoke from his cigar. "You've come to the right place kid, and I'd love to see what you can do, but this isn't the time. Some guy managed to set up a sort of play...more performance than fight if you ask anyone. Once they're done I'll set you up nicely. Can I get your name?" The man asked while bringing out a pen to write it down. Takeda was obviously showing some impatience with the crossed arms and tapping of his foot, but he let out a strong exhale, giving in with a shake of his head. "Just list me as Takeda. I'm headed in to get a feel for the arena, but I won't interrupt their performance." He spoke up, earning a nod from the fight scheduler before walking past him and into the arena.The sun barely poked through the cloudy skies of Kirigakure, the light that did shine through illuminating both the crowd and performers.
He wasn't too surprised when he spotted Kagerou among the play's participants. Her green hair gave her away easily, and a bit of confusion came to mind following the realization of her presence. She's never seemed the type to like all eyes on her. Still more likely to see her here than in a fight...Wonder how she got wrapped up in all this. He thought, the *plip* *plop* of his footsteps reaching his ears. Looking down, he saw that the arena floor was covered in a good amount of water, with a constant rocking sensation akin to being on a boat.
Taking the time to get used to the balance issue of the platform, Takeda let his eyes settle on the play going on in front of him. While he had no appreciation or knowledge for things such as acting, it was at least more interesting than just standing around doing nothing.

[･･･] Inka arrived to the arena with an Anbu following just a step behind him and the black robe of his office swaying with each step. They walked into the large, circular building and straight through to the observation deck reserved for contestants readying themselves for the fight while not missing out on the chance to observe the current one. It was open to the air, allowing the voices of Kumotake's nearby play to be heard with little difficulty. Inka would lean against the railling after he had done his round of greetings and 'at ease, please.' Amber eyes were aimed towards the play, but peripherals picked up a young male walking out into the arena, sword the size of a small cannon on his person. Inka blinked, recognition taking him by surprise. Takeda Shirai. Inka had never really gotten to know him - had the opportunity to, even passes greetings, but Inka was always... using the excuse of paperwork keeping him busy to do anything more. He had come across Jack training Takeda at times, sent to retrieve the Kage before he became late for a meeting, or an unseen event occured that needed immediate attention. That type of business happened far too often for anyone's liking.
Straightening, Inka - once again - used a hand to cault himself over the railling, landing on the flooded platform below with a thud and a splash. Maybe he should just give up being a bystander entirely. Everytime he did, he just ended up in the arena itself anyway. The bottom of his robe took on water from the second it took for Inka to straighten his knees from the landing position to an upright stance. The black dye now darker at the hem, it waved with heavy movements as the Mizukage Godaime walked forward, heading for Takeda. Even since his appointment to the Kage's office, they have yet to talk. And it... felt like something he should do.
"Takeda Shirai." Inka greeted, his head bowing slightly deeper than he had to for a man of his position. Takeda, for his part, looked as tired as always with those permanent black marks under his eyes. "I trust you have been well." He started, never one to be... exactly smooth in regards to social settings without the rules of ettiquette to guide him. "And that you are ready for a mission assignment later today." Inka added, with a small attempt at humour.

Personal Attributes: • Last Resort : When a fatal strike is headed towards Inka's way he can use an emergency reserve of chakra and stamina to disrupt the attack but in doing so he must immediately flee. • Family Legacy : Katon jutsu is not beaten by Suiton jutsu one rank lower, and cancels out Suiton jutsu of same rank. • Paternal : Should Inka believe his son is in danger his attacks increase in power by a moderate amount.

Takeda blinked in a small bit of surprise at the somewhat loud splash taking place off to the side. His eyes of course darted towards the direction only to catch sight of the Mizukage himself. It was odd. They probably could've been considered mutual friends through their connection to Jack, though they only spoke once before. There seemed to be a mutual respect present, and that had been enough to sate them both. So why was he suddenly on the approach? Oh right, my mission. He thought, recalling the message he received from an ANBU shinobi on his way to the arena. Takeda's eyes took notice of the hesitant movements, almost cautious, the kage's voice confirming that there was definitely some skepticism in the Genin's identity. Wordlessly, he reached up to grasp his mask, tilting his head while pulling at it to remove the accessory with ease. Indeed those marks were ever present on his cheeks just beneath his eyes. Speaking of those red hues, they would shift before Inka's eyes like a drop of water in a calm lake, creating ripples on the surface. Shades of red would change into two separate colors. Amber, pupil-less iris's with a dark green sclera that was very near to black. Takeda switched the color in case the kage was assuming he was still damaged through the question of how he was doing. It was noted by the medical staff already that flashing red eyes on the Jiongu boy meant he was in critical condition. Ever since his recovery, he merely used scarlet eyes as a way to conceal his identity beneath the mask he wore.
"I got some time to train more than ever in my combat abilities...Guel sae...My Ninjutsu is still sort of lacking, but I'm pretty sure I can defeat my enemies still if I try hard enough." Takeda said with a sort of blank stare, his native language slipping into his words at some point as he thought of what to say. He wasn't perfect in it yet, but the boy had taken extraordinary leaps when it came to the native tongue of the Shinobi villages. He wouldn't be a walking thesaurus any time soon, but he could finally hold conversation with the best of them. His eyes would avert from Inka's soon after speaking, a bit of shame seemingly washing over him in the place of a somewhat somber expression. "I'm sorry that I couldn't participate in the Chuunin exams. I still had to recover from my Tenketsu rot. I was...useless...for awhile, but I feel better than I ever have before since my time in the hospital. I'll show you that I can take on anyone now." He obviously had some trouble saying that word. Useless. Falling into a stagnancy was the equivalent of having his fears realized. He remained in that state for the duration of his recovery, having to take a lesson in humility all the same.
Though his confidence of course still shown through in his words. The spark that built back in his tone showing in that last sentence, eyes no longer straying from the more experienced Shinobi.

The curtains parted and in that decisive moment, Kagerou… was right where she needed to be. No distraught Kumotake today. The medic had arrived on time. She even got to enjoy the last bit of Miki’s match, and of course she was there listening to Kumotake’s narration as best as she could. She wondered if that was really his family story because, well, the reason seemed so silly and minor. Regardless, while part of this whole scheme was to make Kagerou understand, to the born and raised kunoichi, she knew that there were more pressing priorities. Specifically, she needed to be on the watch for any cues she was given about how to proceed in the play, so when the insects formed the shape of a curtain and a lone insect approached her, Kagerou understood.
