[DRP] meddle about (wil & nasir)

"I dunno," Wil was still peering out, even in the hopes of seeing glowing animals eyes or anything. "A lot of animals are nocturnal. Like raccoons and stuff. Scavengey animals."

The blonde smiled and wrapped his arms around Nasir from behind so they could both look out the window, "Maybe some tiny nocturnal has a crush on you. Should I be jealous?" It just figured even animals loved Nasir.

Nasir slid the ring for Wil onto the blonde's finger as well, then tangled their hands together. His cheeks turned a dusky red when the other spoke portugese just because it was rare but when he did-

It always made his stomach tumble.

"It's all I ever wanted," he whispered back, "and the best present ever."

"Yeah and we've got plenty around here ..." Nasir smiled and then chuckled, turning in Wil's arms. "Why should you be jealous? There's not a cute enough animal on the planet that could distract me from-"

Then the world was shifting or Nasir's vision was suddenly. He blinked and suddenly was looking through ... tree leaves? The sounds of the night were much sharper and his heart was racing as he heard the shrill cry of something else that came out at night.

(Meanwhile Nasir's fingers are clutched tightly to Wil, eyes wide and clearly elsewhere.)

Wil only untangled their hands so he could throw his arms around the other and squeeze him tight. He was so grateful to have Nasir in his life, even if people didn't think he was, if they thought he was a lazy mooch...

..maybe he was but Nasir accepted him and loved him anyway. He may have sniffled just a little by the time he was pulling away and nudging his boyfriend.

"I got special food and everything..." Which meant he tried to make something and the results were either really good or really terrible.

Wil appreciated the pause, thought it was a joke until the silence dragged out and he pulled back a bit to look at Nasir. His boyfriend was staring out into space, quiet and totally detached.

"Nasir?" His hands jostled gently, like he could shake him out of it.

His tail flicked - a tail?! - and he skittered up higher in the tree. Eyes looked around and then focused on the - that was his home with Wil (the colors did not look quite right) - flowerbox by the window. He ran and leapt and he was flying - no, gliding- he could feel the difference - the air ruffling his fur and landed with a small thump in the box.

(Nasir was still detached, fingers curled into Wil and not there. It was as if the blonde's voice wasn't even heard, that it couldn't reach him whatsoever.)

There had never been a moment that he honestly considered Wil to be a lazy mooch. Instead he had noticed all the ways the other looked out for him, how he took care of Nasir and made sure he didn't work himself ragged. When Nasir was focused on Wil and others, the blonde was simply focused on him.

It was very much needed.

He squeezed his arms around his boyfriend, pressing a kiss to his hair and then the corner of his eye because they looked a little watery. "So you bribed the chief of police and you set up this romantic rooftop and you made yourself look good and you made food?" Nasir was possibly a little starry eyed.

Which meant that Wil was tackled to the pillows once more and hugged tight.

"Well no Wil plan is complete without a little bribery..." Or shady dealings. Or just completely illegal activity.

"But yeah, for you, because you deserve it." He uncovered a tray with Nasir's favorite dish, done Wil style, which meant possibly heavily spiced and with a leaning towards well done.

"Oh and months and months ago," He leaned behind a pillow and pulled out a single growler of alcohol, "I asked Borr to make a 'Nasir' beer. And he gave me this the other day." Just like Nasir made people wings, Borr had a tendency to surprise people with their own brews, influenced by them.

"Nasir?" Another shake, but nothing. The other gripped onto him which was also not reassuring but he heard a thump outside the window and tried to turn and see.

"Nasir whatever it is.. it's back." Maybe that would snap him out of it? "I can't see it well.."

He was trying to move away, or at least keep a hand on his boyfriend to see what it was, but with him not coming out of whatever this was he was too afraid to let go.

It really was almost too much and Nasir was rubbing at his eyes once more Wil revealed the meal, which smell good if only heavily spiced. He did not mind things being well done especially when it was made by the blonde.

Then he was blinking as the growler was pulled out, mouth opened to an o shape and then he was reaching out to take it in hand. Nasir's eyes looked up from the brew to Wil and he smiled. "You know this may be the best anniversary ever ..."

Nasir was somewhat pulled, swaying as Wil moved a little towards the window. There was a squirrel there, though it likely did not look like an every day squirrel, and it froze when it saw Wil.

Mostly because Nasir was seeing Wil through it's eyes.

Wil- Not that it mattered because only a chitter came out instead of his voice and the creature was coming closer to the window to look in. Why- As it came closer, he suddenly saw himself there. Fingers clutched to Wil's arm, the other clutched to him and how was he doing this? He was there and his expression vacant.

Wil Wil Wil Wil Wil He wanted this to stop! He wanted-

The small creature was still there at the window and did not seem spooked that it was being watched. Instead it was the opposite, as if it wanted the attention. It's form was visible, clearly a young southern flying squirrel.

The last oddity? It's eyes were the exact same color as Nasir's.

"Which means next year I have to make it better.." Wil smiled. He had very few self imposed challenges. Impressing Nasir was always one on the top of his list.

"Because you're great and you work hard and deserve it." And he pushed a kiss to his boyfriend's cheek. "And I love you."

"Nasir it's a squirrel..." But the other still didn't hear him. It wasn't scared at all and Wil was tempted to push the window open more and offer to bring it in...

But he was really more concerned with Nasir. "A weird squirrel but.." He frowned. The other wasn't hearing him.

"Nasir-" His voice sounded thick and pleading in panic. He was about to call 911.

"Just-" Nasir laughed a little, settling next to Wil and kissing him before rubbing their cheeks together. "Maybe leave out the bit where I think you're in really bad trouble with the Chief of Police?" Everything else was okay but that had really had him worried.

He nudged his boyfriend in the side then.

"So food and we're sharing this drink and you can plan how to top this anniversary later." Though he was amused because it had originally been him trying to do things like this every year but it had become something of a tradition that Wil beat him to it.

I'm right here! Nasir yelled out but all that came out was a bark from the squirrel. His paws pressed into the glass, watching, and he could see that Wil was worried and-

He blinked-

His head swam-

Then he was blinking his eyes and Wil was right there, looking panicked and worried and his heart was racing in his chest. "Wil" he breathed out, head aching and then wrapping an arm around his boyfriend tightly.

The flying squirrel made a confused noise itself, foregoing whatever it was doing and darted off from the flower box at the kitchen window.
