          Tink_Bel (Helen)
          Score: 5 6
Comments: It's a cute look. It feels like prom, a very fairy tale themed prom with a proper looking prince in the ballroom, but it feels like prom. So the challenge is entirely met. But I agree, as great as this color scheme is on Helen, I am getting tired of seeing it on her. There are so many other colors and color schemes out there.

          HCTotorro (Nicki)
          Score: 6.5 7.5
Comments: This is a fun prom look, love the short dress and the general aesthetic of just dancing the night away. I like Nicki in earth tones, but I also really like her in color. I think even just some pop of color - somewhere - in the look would really help it.

          Sana Minatozaki (Chloe)
          Score: 5 6
Comments: Want to just start off by saying I got a little annoyed at her pessimistic points in the contestant's only thread and being so convinced she was going to be sent home. Have some confidence girl! Even after changing her description, it's an aggravating thing. It's a great avatar for a different time. I don't think the companion matches her or prom at all. Why is he all bundled up while she's still in a flowing light dress? If she wanted them to be outside the prom, or taking a walk and wanted to explain him being bundled because it was cold, then Chloe should probably be in some kind of layer. Or just. Something. For this challenge, this falls flat for me.

          Alesaan (Sarah)
          Score: 6 7
Comments: Too much description, not reading the whole thing. Matches the avatar in that there's too much crap on the head. It's distracting, and doesn't read as punk to me. I kind of love the look from the neck down, but it's just the head kind of throws things off. The head piece and the description cost a lot of points for me.

          Dante Dolly (Melissa)
          Score: 7 8
Comments: I like this, like that this is anti-prom of sorts, but also don't like that. It's a very 50/50 kind of feeling. Kind of wish Melissa wasn't quite so hidden, but it fits things. I dunno. There's nothing I can point to that's awful, nothing great, but it's a strong composition. Probably could be scored higher, but since it just leaves me feeling so...meh that I stood by the initial lower score I gave it.

          milk cap (Sheenah)
          Score: 6.5 7.5
Comments: I love this outfit, I think the dress created is stunning and inspired for prom. The colors are gorgeous and the roses are lovely. I would love to know all the items involved because I would love to use this dress. However. These colors aren't great on Sheenah, especially with nothing on the hair. Had this with her aquamarine submission too, the colors are absolutely stunning together and she knows how to work them together, but they clash with the orange hair.

          AmberEmma (Wanda)
          Score: 6.5 7.5
Comments: Too dark. I feel like Wanda just fades into the background too much, and I have to work harder than I want to in order to see details. I think just changing the color the background would have helped a lot.

          Ultrabord (Danielle)
          Score: 7 8
Comments: Is this the strongest look? Nope. But it is really good. I love the flapper idea, especially since proms always have themes so going with a themed look made sense to me. I think things could have been a little lighter in the background, but this is so much better than the look for Wanda that I really can't complain.

          elphiethesane (Chantal)
          Score: 7.5 8.5
Comments: This is another long description that ended up skimmed more than fully read. I like the ghost companion is kind of a weird choice? But as Astralotte pointed out there are only so many companions that work at all so I can't complain too much. Though I wish there was something to tie in the ghost to her or just give some explanation to that? Not too bothered by it though. I absolutely love Chantal in the suit and having a female date though. So much.

          x_suicide_is_inevitable_x (Ella)
          Score: 7 8
Comments: Not even really reading the description, just too much. It's a beautiful look though, and is nicely balanced with light and dark. It has a near surreal feel that is nice with prom/thoughts of prom. It looks magical and it's supposed to be a magical night, isn't it? I think the feet stand out in an odd way, and I'm not sure I like the hands being hidden and it might feel too theme-y for most proms? But I like this.

Past two weeks were stressful and aggravating for me, left me in a bit of a bad mood, so I added a point to everyone's score to try and curb the harsher judging that came from the bad mood.

So this is what our numbers are looking like Alesaan, I only tallied our numbers. Looks like Dante, elphie, and suicide are on top, while Tink, Sana, and Alesaan are the bottom. Thoughts on things? After you finish your reviews I can write up the feedback post. Can't make announcements, so many just post the winner and who's out with the feedback? Or should that be PMed?

Sure, those numbers look fine, though I'll give the caveat that my numbers might change as I write up my descriptions. If we're doing double elim, that means Tink and Sana are out and elphie's our winner. I think the winner should be posted alongside the feedback, since we can't really send out an announcement.

Oh of course, numbers changing is just fine, just wanted to get some rough numbers started at least. Did we want to do a double elimination, or just eliminate one since everyone got their submissions in this week? I'm not sure that I have a preference.

I'm fine with just eliminating one if that's what you'd prefer. However, I'd prefer to eliminate 2.

Great! I’ll get the write ups done and things posted. Also, I was wondering if you’d like to make an example for the next challenge - I believe it’s RPG classes? Eliminating 2 is just with me.

          x_suicide_is_inevitable_x -15

Also here are out final numbers! Still looks like Tink and Sana are out, and elphie is the winner, does that still sound good to you? I'll plan on posting the results with the feedback, I'll do it at the top of the post I think?

edit; I've added the feedback into the spoiler, as well as the win and lose reveal. Let me know if you want more added to the feedback or think anything should be changed! c:

This was one of the harder rounds to judge because there wasn't any bad submission. It's getting to that point though where everyone has skills, and everyone is really learning what looks good on their models, so it's becoming smaller and smaller details that takes someone from being on top versus being on the bottom.

The winner is elphiethesane, congratulations! Sadly Tink_Bel and Sana Minatozaki are out. elphie, let us know if you'd like to continue with Chantal, or switch to Helen or Chloe. You can message Astralotte or myself with your decision.

                  1. Tink_Bel (Helen)

Positives; This was a cute look, and it definitely fit the challenge. It was a clear prom look.
Negatives; It was just a bit lack luster, and the etoile color scheme has been seen multiple times on Helen, and it makes the looks blur together. There wasn't anything that excited us about this look, even though there wasn't anything wrong with it either.

                  2. HCTotorro (Nicki)

Positives; We love the movement of the whole thing, and Nicki looks great. Short dress was a great decision.
Negatives; The background was a little off, and as great as Nicki looks in earth tones, she also looks good in deep and rich colors. Even a pop of something non earth tone could go a long way.

                  3. Sana Minatozaki (Chloe)

Positives; Your description improved so much! Chloe looks great, and the whole color composition is lovely.
Negatives; This look didn't say prom. It said date night, and compared to the other submissions, it was just lacking as a result. We know there aren't a lot of companion items either that fit prom, but choosing to give her a date all bundled up while she wasn't bundled up just added to some of the disjointed feeling and took it farther away from saying prom.

                  4. Alesaan (Sarah)

Positives; This is a great look, especially on Sarah. Embraces her punk aesthetic with her hair and tattoos, an impressive feat, and it just feels like prom entirely. Great look.
Negatives; Far too much description, even if it had a great story, it became a chore to read it and you never want to make judges feel like something is a chore. The tiara is also a bit distracting with all the different jewels, somethings a little simpler would have benefited the over all look.

                  5. Dante Dolly (Melissa)

Positives; We always love seeing your creativity with these challenges, and this was no different. It's another good description too.
Negatives; There was nothing technically wrong with this, even as far as nitpicking goes it just would have been nice to see Melissa a little less covered up.

                  6. milk cap (Sheenah)

Positives; The dress created throught the skirt layering is just gorgeous, and the colors are lovely all together. It's also a good description, and liked how it brought out Sheenah's personality.
Negatives; There was something a little plain about it, and the orange hair stood out a bit. The hair is a challenge, we all know it is, but the beautiful and delicate colors don't compliment it very well, so it ends up standing out.

                  7. AmberEmma (Wanda)

Positives; The story comes across without having to read the description, and the description only strengthens things. It's a great look, the leg pose and roses were both especially nice choices.
Negatives; Over all it's a bit dark on dark on dark, might be nice to have had a different background or some other little element to just break it up a tad.

                  8. Ultrabord (Danielle)

Positives; Danielle looks absolutely stunning, and the flapper idea was a great one.
Negatives; The background is a little off, and a leg mod with gold shoes or some kind of movement might have been nice to see, could have looked like she was doing the Charleston.

                  9. elphiethesane (Chantal)

Positives; Kudos for putting Chantal in a suit and giving her a female companion! Love the breaking of traditional norms, and she looks great. The way you worked with her updo hair was especially fantastic.
Negatives; The description was a bit much, and we would have liked to hear why Chantal's date was dead. Could have maybe added some creature features, said it was a monster prom. Just something to explain that and tie it together a bit more would have been nice.

                  10. x_suicide_is_inevitable_x (Ella)

Positives; Beautiful colors together, and it has a nice sense of whimsy and magic that can be thought of in terms of proms.
Negatives; The look itself doesn't necessarily say prom, and the description was far too long again - especially for not giving enough information about Ella's experiences and the story of what is actively happening in the submission. Also, make up isn't technically allowed, and we saw the La Belle Maquillage.

Challenge 7: RPG Classes

AmberEmma (Wanda)
Score: 8.5
Comments: This is simply gorgeous. The colour scheme is not something
I would have picked for Wanda, but it works so well in this instance.
Her understanding of the task is phenomenal and it's clear she had a
picture in mind and went for it. The only thing she lost points on were the
bow and other details, which are lost in the background. Adding
'Player Name' and 'Character Name' was a cute little additive though!

Ultrabord (Danielle)
Score: 5.5
Comments: This isn't bad, but it's not at the level of her peers at this point
in the game. Ultra got full marks for subject and description, but lost quite
a few marks in style. Honestly, I love the nurses hat as a cute little motif,
but it doesn't relate to the rest of the garment. I would have liked to see
a B&W or greyscale scheme.

Dante Dolly (Melissa)
Score: 9.5
Comments: This was a shock to me as we're used to seeing Melissa in
bright colours and this was such a contrast ... and it paid off!! Honestly,
going with Melissa's pale features, painting her dark makes her stand out
as mysterious, which is conveyed perfectly for Dante's choice of going
with a warlock/dark mage. The one nitpick I have is the hood, which
makes her look like the enemy rather than a comrad in your RPG party.

milk cap (Sheenah)
Score: 5
Comments: Sheenah is arguably the hardest model to design for, due to
her flaming ginger hair and feminine purple lips, that tend to clash with
many colour schemes. In order for this model to shine, it is essential
to understand her strengths, which are dark and moody, like fantasy
creatures and punk-rock types. It's clear that a mage would have been
the smartest option. Milk could have played up the orange and purple
colours to create the baddest black mage, or the gentlest white mage,
but instead she went with a bard, which was way off base for Sheenah.
By Milk's own admission, she considered a mage first ... so why did
she change her mind? It makes me wonder whether she simply
second guesses herself and needs confidence or whether she's
designing whatever she wants and then just throwing it on her model
whether it looks good or not.

HCTotorro (Nicki)
Score: 6
Comments: I like the design, but it's not exactly stylish, in my opinion.
It's creative and I do rather hope, like Totorro does, that we get a good
variety of different roles to consider, but expecting that might mean a
reduction in quality. However, Nicki needs to be styled much more than
we're shown. It's a good thing the chrome idea was altered because
colour really suits this model. That being said, I can't forget the way
she looked in that pink challenge and I would love to see her in pretty
pastels once more.

Alesaan (Sarah)
Score: 10
Comments: Alesaan's on point this round!!! Finally, the designer within
has emerged. I've honestly nothing to complain about. The concept
suits Sarah and it is true to the theme as well as stylish as s**t! This is also
a wonderful use of background, framing the hero of the story. Additionally,
the description has been cut down quite a bit, which is a huge relief.
Wow wow wow.

elphiethesane (Helen)
Score: 8
Comments: First of all, it was SUCH a good idea for elphie to switch models.
Chantal wasn't doing many favours, but Helen is gorgeous. I am glad that
the bulkiness was mentioned in the description because that is my
biggest beef with this look. It's easy to tell that it was considered, but
wasn't executed as well - especially the boots.

x_suicide_is_inevitable_x (Ella)
Score: 6.5
Comments: I personally feel this was a wrong class choice for a model
so innocent looking as Ella. In terms of style, it is rather bulky and
heavy looking, as though it were made for a man rather than a woman.
I like the description and appreciate the honesty regarding RPG's, but it's
not an excuse to perform sub-par.

AmberEmma (Wanda)
Score: 8.5
Comments: I am really conflicted about this. On the one hand, the description is A++ and ties in with the avatar spectacularly, and creates a clear and detailed scene of Wanda stalking through the forest to track her prey. I love the colors, and it gives off the sense, even without reading the description, that she's a bit nervous on an evening hunt. The addition of a backstory is a big, big plus! However, despite the cohesive story and incredible composition, Wanda sort of blends in with the background, and it's a little hard to tell what she's actually wearing(of course, this is the point, her being a hunter and all, but...). It's a beautiful avatar, but the outfit is just a bit too obscured for my liking.

Ultrabord (Danielle)
Score: 3
Comments: What I don't like about this is that it's a little too on-the-nose. Yes, she's a healer, yes they often come with cute little nurse caps depending on the game, but this isn't a warrior look, it's a hospital worker look. Danielle isn't going into battle and she's not equipped for traveling, she's just cute, and we already know how I feel about just cute. She isn't carrying a staff, she isn't scuffed up, she isn't really doing anything but praying, and in a theme that requires action, movement, dynamism... this isn't it. I do like the colors, though. They look good on Danielle.

Dante Dolly (Melissa)
Score: 4.5
Comments: So I had a bit of a journey with this one. At first, I was agreeing that it was really very good, and I was all set to give it the 8 I felt it deserved - it's a dark, refreshing look that tells a story of a mage who may or may not be up to something sinister, and it's something the likes of which we haven't really seen on Melissa before, and then I really looked at it, and spotted what could be the worst fashion decision I've seen Dante Dolly make. The Ghastly Sartorial Slay pants do not match this avatar, and while I was vibing with the rest of the look it made me look upwards, and wonder what the top was doing in relation to the pants + arms, and the cloak in relation to the whole rest of the look. The more I looked at it, the more it fell completely apart. It looks like a bunch of stuff thrown together rather than a cohesive outfit. Did Melissa dress herself in the dark this morning?

milk cap (Sheenah)
Score: 7
Comments: I actually really like this! Okay, maybe I'm biased towards bards, but Sheenah looks debonair and dashing in this ensemble, just like a bard should(though I'll admit she looks a bit like a pirate...). It looks like she's telling a story, with drama and intrigue and romance, to her party members and audience that watch raptly as she moves and strums her harp. It suits the theme well, and I love the story it tells just by looking at it! ...With that said, however, there's something lacking here - it's another one of those things that could be any other model in the competition. I liked Sheenah's last outfit, where she wore her hair out loud and proud with her bubblegum dress! Now it looks like she's hiding.

HCTotorro (Nicki)
Score: 6.5
Comments: This is an interesting look, and I enjoy the creativity - with that said, I can't really get over the fact that Nicki's hair looks like a helmet, in combination with the visor. While an engineer is a valid rpg class(if a bit niche), it ends up looking out of place here. I like the bright colors on Nicki, especially in comparison to the more muted colors of her peers, and I like the robotic elements - but it doesn't really fit. When I think of a fantasy engineer, I think of a grease-stained steampunk inventor, and though HCTotorro technically isn't in the wrong here with their design, it's just not what I'm looking for in this particular challenge.

Alesaan (Sarah)
Score: 9.5
Comments: Alesaan's taken it up a notch this round, and I must say, I'm impressed! The red-gold color scheme and paladin theme are outstanding on Sarah - the only thing I might have loved more on her would be a thief look. The colors show off her brazen personality and her topknot makes her seem like she's ready to walk right into battle. The armor is functional while at the same time being stylish and comes together to make a solid product, and makes me feel like Alesaan is taking this really seriously - and that Sarah is too! The only thing I would change would be the tiara, for a more solid helm that says 'tanky paladin' rather than 'decorative headpiece'. I'd also liked to have seen a sash or a belt or something, a little bit of flair that speaks to Sarah's personal style - the look is almost too utility.

elphiethesane (Helen)
Score: 10
Comments: I am in love with this look. I'll miss Chantal, but seeing what elphie's done with Helen right out of the gate blows all my doubts away. I really can't find anything I hate about this look - from the colors, to the design, to the theme of Helen as a lady knight, it all comes together to form a powerful and cohesive whole. Helen looks like the veteran hero of her party, hardened through battles and looking to further victory in the future. The cape flowing, her stance, and her wistful gaze tells a story of her reminiscing on her days on the battlefield. That little bit of flair and showing without telling clinches the 10 from me. The only thing I might change would be the tassels - they're a bit distracting, and there's plenty of movement in the cape and shoulder piece already. I'd also have liked to see a bigger headpiece, but ultimately that's an incredibly minor nitpick in the face of how good the rest of the outfit is.
(also, i LOVE the pun title!)

x_suicide_is_inevitable_x (Ella)
Score: 5
Comments: Okay, can I just say the mismatched armor golds are really messing me up? It's bothering me so much, and makes it look like Ella's playing pretend rather than being an actual knight going into actual battle. Everything looks clunky and slapped together at the last second, and like she's about to fall apart at any given moment. The legmod makes her look freakishly tall, and as if her entire torso has disappeared. However... there's something almost endearing about that, like a new hero wearing armor that's a bit too big for her going on her first journey. Overall, I'm disappointed Suicide didn't go for a mage or healer look they mentioned - that would have gone a lot better, considering Ella's sweet features.
PostPosted: Mon May 07, 2018 7:52 am

          AmberEmma (Wanda)
          Score: 8
Comments: I like the description and the backstory, love having the bit of a backstory honestly. But it's a little...muddled. I know she used two back grounds and one was to include the bramble/grass in the foreground, but I think she could have done without that. She's a hunter and needs to be hidden, of course, but she doesn't need to be hidden from our view. Without those there would still be a clear story of a hunter stalking their prey, but we would be able to see more of the details. I'm also not crazy about whatever the bright white floaties are, and I'm not sure if they're an item on their own or a result of the background layering, but it creates some almost odd framing and obscures the outfit even more. But I do adore the outfit, and I love that she matched the blue of the outfit to the castle background, aiding in selling the story that she's a hunter that blends in. Just for competition sake, I need her to blend in less.

          Ultrabord (Danielle)
          Score: 4
Comments: I like the light in the dark aspect for the healer, and it was executed excellently. Some of the sparkles might rest over her a little oddly, there's a gold one over the hair that looks like an earring - and may be one - but since it layers over top of the hair it's kind of odd. But it's a minor thing. Over all I truly love this look though, even with the classic nurse cap that is almost too on the nose? But not at the same time. Description is fantastic. It is very cute though, and the more I see it, especially as other submissions come in, it feels almost...cheap being so on the nose? I think that's the word I'm looking for.

          Dante Dolly (Melissa)
          Score: 6.5
Comments: Dante is always creative, and it makes her submissions a joy. I liked seeing Melissa in the darker colors, and liked the over all color scheme. First look it was refreshing and gorgeous, and I still think it's stunning and will be one of the scores to beat. The description is good, and the look is too. But the pants create such a heavy purple at the bottom that I find my eye being drawn down when I look at it, which isn't where my eye should go. The belts over her torso also fade against the pants oddly, it's almost like between them and the shirt as well things get cut off oddly? It's nothing truly awful, but it's just..it's weird. And Dante normally doesn't have weird things.

          Score: 6
Comments: Sheenah looks like she's dressing up like Commander Norrington from Pirates of the Caribbean, or one of his comrades, and not like a bard to me. Little things say bard, but the over all look just doesn't say bard to me. And the leg mod standing on this one small solitary rock, it's kind of weird. But those things aside? It looks good! I love the over all look, I just don't know if it's right for this and I'm not sure it matches the description.

          HCTotorro (Nicki)
          Score: 5.5
Comments: I love seeing the color on Nicki! It's so refreshing after some of the neutral earth tones, even if she looks good in them. The description was a little disjointed at times, and I'm not crazy about the pressure on the remaining contestant to do different classes, but over all it isn't the worst thing. Her hair does look like a helmet, and some things over all about the look just don't...feel right. It isn't terrible, but it's just..off. But it was refreshing to see a different take on a RPG class.

          Alesaan (Sarah)
          Score: 10
Comments: These colors are amazing on her, and the class she chose for Sarah was a perfect one. And over all, I really love this look. Love that she chose practical armor - especially the shoes. I love the description and the little background, I just...there's a lot I just instinctively love about this. But the rose on the headpiece just doesn't work for me at all. I would have preferred no head piece. I get her thought with the rose, I like the thought, but the execution just didn't work for me.

          Score: 9
Comments: I'm a sucker for a pun. Helen does look amazing. I'm not sure I love the dangling straps that seem to be attached to the breast piece? But they do offer some movement to the look which is nice. She's a lovely lady knight though, and I kind of love the shoulder piece even if it might offer some limitations in battle, I like it and for the particular look it's good. I love the circlet a lot, it's an item I'm curious about cause I'd love to use it, haha.

          x_suicide_is_inevitable_x (Ella)
          Score: 7.5
Comments: Ella's hair isn't perfect with the look, but I don't hate it either, and for the class she chose there of course isn't a lot of option. I like the head piece and the golden armor, also love that suicide gave Ella a theme and family crest so they matched the shield to the belt to connect to the crest. Little thought processes like that and tiny details are wonderful. I'm not sure I love the black pants, I think it creates a bit of an odd look. But also with the armor stripped down, the white top and black pants would be perfect acceptable and make sense. As a whole though I like it, and the background is a good choice. Like that it does feel like a game. Ella does look tall, I think the pants are part of that, but it doesn't bother me beyond the fact the black pants keep drawing my eye right there.

Thank you for the item comment, Astra! c:

Girls, it's time to be brutal. We are getting so close to our final 3 now and it's time to turn up the volume in terms of scores. Essentially, what I am asking is that you start grading on a curve.

Up until now, we've considered growth in our judging, comparing designers' previous work to their current work, giving credit to those who've improved. But that time is over and growth can no longer play a role in scores. We must solely determine scores as they compare to their peers.

We've given all of them the same guidance and understanding and it's up to them to use it to their benefit. It's very true that some have come a long long way from where they started, like Milk, whom I adore. But the final 3 can't be comprised of people who have improved a lot - it has to be comprised of the best.

It's the time where we really draw a clear line between the top of the pack and the bottom and we can no longer be hesitant to give out very high or very low marks. That will require us to nitpick everything. Where you would have docked a marked before, make it two marks. Where you would have added a bonus mark for something, double that as well.

Additionally, as submissions come in, it's pertinent to review the other submissions and make adjustments to scores regularly. For example, Amber was the first entry I judged and I gave it a 90%, which set the bar. Then when Ultra's submission was in, I felt it deserved a 65% compared to Amber. However, when I saw Dante's entry, it set a new bar, earning it a 95%, which bumped Amber's score down to 85% and Ultra's to 55%.

The average scores should no longer read: 70, 72, 72, 75, 75, 78 as if all of the designers are in the same range of skills.
Instead it should look closer to: 40, 55, 65, 80, 90, 95, making clear where we each stand with every designer.

It sucks to eliminate people, especially when they take such joy in the competition, but there can only be one winner, right? This part was inevitable and those upset about being eliminated will just have to suck it up, practice and return for a second chance in cycle 2.
