Empress Ekko (Noelle)

Comments: This said Scorpio to me right off the bat, and that was great. I think Noelle looks great in these colors, great idea to play off the lips like that. Is purple my first thought for Scorpio? Nope. But I like this enough that I don't care too much. Description could have been shorter, but it wasn't really wasted length either. I wish the black was more balanced.

Comments: Oh David. I feel like there's always just a...a lacking. And these week it's just...golly this isn't good. There aren't many crab items, but it wasn't like crab items had to be used? I mean, the red says crab. The red says cancer. That...that is entirely where this ends for me. And they didn't even say cancer enough for me to remember what their sign was before the description mentioned crab. Keran looks good in the colors, but for me this just misses the mark. By a long shot.

Comments: I tend to agree that there isn't enough zodiac to this look, throwing some stars around her head just doesn't magically make this a constellation look. And the earring is a very bad decision. But Ebony is beautiful, this setting is beautiful, and it does say virgo when you dig into virgo. Just isn't as obvious about it.

Comments: If the background was taken away this would have been a nearly perfect look for me. The colors say Sagittarius, the idea and theme say it, the legs were a wonderful creative choice. It is well balanced, and Veronica looks great. Though her face is...I'm very aware of her face. And it's just there. I don't think I would have liked a veil or anything, but it feels like a rather large void.

Comments: I am a Libra, so I might be harsh, but this doesn't say Libra to me. Doesn't really say zodiac. Says watery angel. Says Dita looks sad and pouty as she flies. Says unbalanced - ironic for the sign - with all pink on bottom and seafoams on top. And just..it is far from my favourite. It's a little blah, all other things aside too. I think more could have been done, and there definitely should have been more balance.

Comments: As irritated as I am with Princess, that whole shebang is better than this. I also expected a description to be added in but it was really just this. And the spoiler. And I don't..just drop out, or don't, but I don't like these kinds of games. I have no idea what her sign is. TAURUS. Taurus was the absolute last thought on my mind with this look. The green isn't good on Kate, next person to put Kate in this kind of green is losing points automatically because it isn't that good. This whole thing is a mess. Nope.

Comments: "I believe the symbolism of fish is portrayed well" makes it sound like there aren't actual fish swimming around. The big black in the necklace is terrible, as is the matching black ring, and the giant size of the picture doesn't help it. It doesn't look like she has ANYTHING on her lower half, looks like she's kneeling to keep decent. This isn't the worst Mia has looked, though her lips definitely stand out. It says Pisces. If this had been the first entry - and had been on time or anything, it might have been better. But there's no excuse really for Princess to have had the wrong model in the first place, even if things were granted. rolleyes
Tink_Bel (Zahara)

Comments: So when this first was posted I didn't really like it. But as I looked at it more and more things came in, I started to appreciate it more. It definitely says Leo. Zahara looks great. There is an ethereal aspect to this that fits the constellations and the zodiacs. Tink has set the bar high for herself in the past, and I think this just...is a little expected? It's great, but I want her to wow me. And I agree that Zahara can take a break from gold - all the dark skinned models can. Maybe everyone in general, no gold for a challenge. (LOL because the next challenge is a silver and gold challenge..it's fine) I also think the fur around her shoulders reminds me of the leaf thing Zahara wore in the first challenge, so it feels repetitive even if I get why she did it and where she's going with it.
METTAT0N (Xoco)

Comments: Seeing all the views of this hurt it, and I would have liked to see twin played on a bit. But I don't hate this. It fits the challenge, it isn't hideous, I'm gonna forget what it looks like as soon as I look away. It's fine, and forgettable....and the glowing heart is located in an area that should never really be a focus.

Comments: ah...pass. There are far too many ideas and directions going on here, and it needs to be cleaned up. I hate the head dress. Hate the shiny legs while the rest of her isn't shiny. She doesn't look like she's actually underwater despite the background?? The boots are terribly and shouldn't be there, def shouldn't be black. This is easily the worst Madison has looked. Only real positive about this? I knew it was Aquarius.
Kiwi Cannoli (Brooke)

Comments: Brooke is a hard model to make look bad, and these were great color schemes for her and this definitely said Aries. This is another one I would have preferred without the background as I think it detracts from the over all look, and throws off the balance. And I don't like the off black/blue color in her head piece. It matches the color on her chest, but it looks like it's trying to match her hair and it definitely doesn't match.
botticellus venus (Daphne)

Comments: Not ashamed to admit this is my favourite. It said Capricorn immediately, the colors are great, it's balanced and pleasing. This is one of the looks that had me thinking about it long after looking at it. It isn't the best shape for Daphne considering this is a fashion competition, but I really don't care. This is really in a league of it's own for me. Right balance of style and creativity and zodiac. Loved it.

Empress Ekko (Noelle)

Comments: She was right about Noelle being a better choice than Mia
for this round. Noelle has that perfect look that says she's not to be
messed with, a common characteristic with any fire sign. I love love
love the purple garments, and don't even mind the use of a dress as it
fits the concept. I'm just not digging that tail. The black stands out like a
sore thumb and obscures what I find to be the better part of the design.
DAVlD DUCHOVNY (Keran)

Comments: David really understands the colours and shapes that work with
Keran, which is why the score is rated as high as it is. However, there are stylistic
issues that have been consistent in submissions. Honestly, the water idea was a
good one, but having it floating on the dress wasn't good to me at all. Better that
the legs were kept and the gown thrown out because of the space it eats.
Tink_Bel (Zahara)
Score: 9
Comments: This to me says ART and I love it! This is certainly a surprising
spin on something as common as a lion and you can see Tink's personal
style shining right through. The chest piece and shoulder pads give it an
almost avant garde feeling. One thing I would have liked to see is Zahara
with daintier legs. Although I love thicker legs on my dark girls, this seems
to take away from of the elegance, especially with the dark heels.
METTAT0N (Xoco)

Comments: I like the description, but I feel as though it's not appropriate. It's kept
light and informative, but I swear it's deescribing a different outfit than the one we
see. Hearing words like 'Demi Goddess', 'bird', 'feathers' and 'wings', made me
think there was more that could have been done and I desired to see the design go
even bigger. I like the monochrome effect, but I wish the legs were more elegant.
And that emblem on Xoco's head doesn't work with the model's side parted hair.
Sorry, Judges. I had life come up and I couldn't get on to finish up the judging of this round!

Tink – Zahara - 8
I could definitely tell this was Leo without the description – the ears, tail and neck fur looking ruff were dead giveaways. The gold was fitting for the sig and looks great on Zahara. White compliments the gold and her skin tone. I love the African touches, fitting for a lion/Leo, and I’m personally just a huge fan of them so I always like to see how others use them. The top and skirt work well together, the shoes/leg pose are fab, and the floral headpiece is fitting in an earthy way and ties in the petals. I didn’t get the ember like nature of the petals from the image, but I like the thought behind them. All around beautiful and well thought out design wise, but for some reason isn’t terribly memorable for me. It could be that I have always seen and expect beautiful design from Tink that this falls in that cycle and thus is a bit predictable for me?
Empress Ekko – Noelle – 7.5
Easy to tell from the design this was Scorpio and the Saturn purple color is lovely on Noelle. But I thought red (as well as black) was the color of Scorpio? I could be wrong so it was a bit of a surprise to see Noelle in purple. But that wasn’t a bad thing for me either. The bodice, the arm choice, all the skin showing, the horns, the earrings, the peeking out eye – it is a very evocative, memorable and fitting look for Scorpio and I agree Noelle was the perfect model for this sign. Description really walked me through the choices well and made me like the elements even more so kudos there. I like the tail actually but it does make the bottom half of the image look very bottom heavy and the head piece area needs more black to balance it.
David – Keran – 7
They are so right – there really aren’t any good crab items on Gaia sadly. But I did know this look was Cancer before I even read the description which mean they clearly did their research on Cancer. All three of the colors look great on Keran, and I love the gown. I would have liked to see the clear water incorporated more as I had missed it in the image til I read the description, and I don’t think the headpiece needed the flowers – a little too much on her head maybe.
METTAT0N – Xoco – 7
The Gemini sign on her forehead was the only way I knew this was Gemini, but it isn’t a sign I know too much about other than the ‘twin’ aspect of the sign. Which I agree with METTAT0N that it would have been really hard to pull off and still look fashionable. The feathers made sense with the air sign as soon as I read that, and I appreciate that METTAT0N tried a new color scheme though seabreeze or a pale blue would have fit. The look is memorable and definitely has its own identity. The combat boots feel off to me as they break the other-worldly aspect the rest of the design has.
Khionna – Veronica – 6.5
Oh Sagittarius. The sign everyone thinks I am because I’m not much like my sign at all (Cancer). The sign was easy to see right away in the design and the dress choice is lovely. The Saturn purple is both fitting for the sign and looks great on Veronica. The bow and arrow get a little lost into the background but do tie in with the black/gold/purple scheme. The gold bits on her headband look a little off to me as I didn’t know what they were or why they were there until I read the description. A fitting look and a very pretty one, but nothing really wowed me about the design either.
Kiwi – Brooke – 6.5
Just like with Veronica, I recognized the sign right off the bat, thought the outfit was fitting, and was like eh. I don’t like the cape nor the ponderosa color scheme for Aries (though I like the colors in general and on Brooke). The horns aren’t right with how everything bunches around her head . The weapon was good in theme and in placement. The floral headpiece I didn’t get why it was there. And the cape’s collar blends into her hair too well I think. A good idea, but needs tweaking.
Ren – Madison – 5
Didn’t we just see a feathered headpiece? And why are her legs all glossy/reflection but the rest of her isn’t? Clearly a water sign but I couldn’t tell which one until I read the description. I didn’t know Aquarius was both water and air. Honestly this who outfit is pretty much a miss for me. All the elements say gauzy/ethereal but together look like it was just somewhat themed and fitting items thrown together. It doesn’t look holistic or complete. The shoes don’t fit with the rest of the design. The veil looses some of its ambiance with the shawl, the crown looks odd just sitting on the top while there are gaps before the ear feather things.
Your Local Gay – Dita – 8
I have no idea what this sign is and where is Dita’s halo because she is basically an angel. Ah Libra (now that I read the description). Definitely a hard sign. Dita does look fashionable, and in general I rather like the four hues in this ensemble/image (pale pink, coral, seafoam, and the light blue). The pale pink is the only thing that feels off a bit but that skirt/leg is perfect so maybe try something other than the coral?. I appreciate all the detail in the description and after reading about Libra and all the research YLG did, I appreciated the design even more.
Botticellis – Daphne – 7.5
Definitely Capricorn and I love these colors. But the shape of the outfit makes her hips look massive. Daphne had a very diamond shaped body in this outfit which would work for someone trying to look fashionable and keep warm in the snow in rl but maybe not for a fashion contest? This background is lovely, the hue is perfect ad the placement really adds to the design while not distracting me from it. I love the horns used in this design as the color is echoed elsewhere and it doesn’t make her head look heavy. I love the detail to the clothes – the stripes, the buttons, the zipper, the paeetern, the buckles – a fun outfit and one I like a lot, but it does seem less fashionable than others though it looks more tied together than many.
Suicide – Ebony – 5
This has to be Virgo. I just read the description after I typed that and I would have had a coronary if I was wrong lol. The flowers in her arms and in her hair are perfect. The earring seems a little much tho – I would have chosen a different design and color. Too much right there on the side of her head with yellow florals with it. I am not a fan of the necklace choice though I think a necklace was a good touch to the outfit. The pants color looks off in the background to me, and those flowers at the front of the background are super distracting. My eye keeps jumping to them first. So that background needs to go.
Pixel – Kate – 4
I’m not sure what her sign is and is that really the description? I thought a real one would be added later, even if late? I guess not. And it looks like they’re pretty much gonna drop out soon? Why poppy colored shoes?? The antlers here don’t work for me because of her ponytail – I would have loved them with the terrariums on a different model. The green dress is really plain and the necklace doesn’t help it much.
Princess – Noelle – 4
Uhh, didn't we see someone with Noelle already and this is a couple days late and no mention of it? Oh nevermind I guess we granted an extension…
I couldn’t tell what the sign was from the image shy of water though it looks really like blue electricity to me? Very cyberpunk electric and way too much blue. The background could have worked if there was more contrast between it and what Noelle is wearing though. Like Ren/Madison though, I feel like a lot elements were chosen because they fit the theme and where thrown together. It looks like a rough draft and not like each piece really works together and makes an outfit worth noting.

Comments: Let me say first of all that I am a Scorpio so I might be a little bias. xd I really think Ekko did a good job with the sign. Noelle in general looks intense and mysterious (both traits in the personality roster). I knew whoever got Scorpio would go straight for the scorpion concept (everyone always does) but I think she did it in a unique and interesting way. I ADORE how the loose bits of dress mingle with the tail and this is an avatar with heavy pieces that manages not to look clunky! Now I love the Saturn scheme, don't get me wrong, but the Scorpio color is black and the black in this is heavily unbalanced. If the pincers were also black she'd be balanced and have more of the proper sign color and I could give her a higher score (I really wanted to give her a higher score!) In addition, I worry the arms are a bit too cutesy and take away from the demure element just a bit. Also, long description is long.
DAVlD DUCHOVNY (Keran)

Comments: Wow, where to begin on this one. First of all, Cancer's colors are white and silver not gold, not red. But the colors aren't a requirement, so if the issues stopped there we'd be fine, but honestly this feels like DAVID looked up a list of stuff associated with the sign, typed in keywords in the builder, and threw on the first thing that would fit for each word. The look doesn't feel cohesive to me, the gold isn't evenly distributed, I don't like the shape of the gold headband or how it layers with the flowers, and I don't even see the water on/over the dress. It's mostly just pretty and that's really all it's got going for it.

Comments: So, I'll admit I don't know much about Virgo, but I'm going to say right off the bat that my biggest issue with this is that it doesn't scream horoscope of any kind to me. It just looks very much like a girl in a field. Now to suicide's credit here, Ebony is a well dressed girl in a field. I like that the background sets that earthy environment, and the almost neutral greens are flattering without blending into the background. The only thing off about the outfit to me is that draping thing on her arm that matches her skin-tone way too closely. It just looks stark and out of place. Overall this is a decent look though.
khionna (Veronica)

Comments: I love Saturn, I love this look, but I don't love the background. She looks like she's being eaten alive by that matchy-match background and that's a shame because I like the details khionna put into this with the avalon legs and the archer symbology without sacrificing the look. I will say though, Veronica's big issue as a model seems to be her face because it always seems to stand out like a big, empty void.

Comments: I don't like much about this at all. Why didn't they just paste in their description and put it under a spoiler? Are we supposed to count this? I'm sick of Kate in lime already and we've only seen it twice. The antlers layer poorly with her hair so they appear to be coming out of the back of her head. The necklace doesn't work, the leg mod looks really squat, and why is she in such elegant gloves with a simple dress like that? I like the idea behind the avatar, but not the execution.

But here's the thing, if Princess had delivered the proper model this would probably be at least a 5 because, even with all the blue, the look is really cool (though I doubt it would suit Mia as well). Though the description does just sort of feel like justification for throwing on a collection of unrelated blue items (not sure I like the fins with the rest of the look tbh). But wait, there's more! I'm not really pleased with how long it took Princess to get us a proper outfit, and then proper is sort of a stretch because Mia clearly isn't wearing pants. This look feels like she leashed a bunch of fish and flung them in the air so she could bathe half nude in the pond and that is such a weird story to get from any avatar. The upper part of her looks okay, I like the head fins and, as has been mentioned, Mia has for sure looked worse, but how much is that really worth? (about a point)
Tink_Bel (Zahara)

Comments: This is really beautiful! I got Leo from it right away, but not in an overwhelming way. I like how Tink worked in the traits of her sign into the model. Leo's are supposed to be dramatic and I definitely see that here. Now, while I didn't clock points for it (because this time it was part of the challenge), this is the last time I want to see Zahara in gold for a while. I'm sure the girl can work other colors. My biggest issue with this design is that I can't stop seeing a third leg. I'm not sure if it's the layering of the overskirt or some strange piece in the back of the outfit, but once seen it cannot be unseen. I also wish she had a touch more white around the ankle/foot region.

Comments: So yellow is the usual color for Gemini and again while not required per se, I would have loved to see Xoco in flattering yellows! Anyway, unlike Keran, Xoco looks stylish despite the color change. I actually like that she looks elegant and cool, without having to be overtly graceful since we see that a lot when signs are personified. However, that doesn't mean I don't still have some issues. First, I agree that the forehead sign doesn't work with Xoco's hair, it just looks awkward. The gold belt is more or less centered but I go back and forth on whether I like it there or not. Overall the look is a bit more basic than some of the others. But more than anything this is a perfect case of one pose being better than multiple, because I really don't like seeing Xoco's butt-crack on the turnaround. I don't want to come off like a prude or anything (because I know I mentioned Tink's design last round leaning toward hoochy), but I think there is a time and place for butt-crack and this theme is not it.
RENstrawberry (Madison)

Comments: This is honestly the worst entry I've seen from REN yet. The colors aren't balanced, the boots feel too heavy for the airiness of the outfit, part of the veil is hanging outside of the background. This doesn't feel as thought out as it could have been. That said, it's not a horrible look and there are elements about it I like, like the somewhat bubbly looking dress and the attempt to combine the wings with water. Just another case of execution not quite hitting the mark.

Comments: I like the concept, I like the scheme, but I do not care for the headpiece or how the black pieces seem to devour poor Brooke. I wish there was more ivory and a different arm mod (this one is bulky), but I got Aries from the look before reading the description. Comments: I don't know if it's the simple silhouette, the colors that look so natural on Daphne, the brief but informative description, or the winter theme I like most, but I love this entry! I don't mind a little bulk if it's stylish and on theme. I love the horns and got Capicorn and the zodiac vibe from it with no issues. My only bits of critique would be I wish the legs looked more firm and less cutesy because the turned in toes make her look like she might fall, and that I sort of wish there was a little fish element thrown in. But I really don't feel too fit to complain because this avatar is simply precious.

It is based on Gaia time, which is also PST since Gaia headquarters are based out of California. Unless I'm also missing something, but I think that's correct.

Princess has been granted an extension, she has until midnight tonight to get a submission in to be judged. She had life things come up this week and sent Goddess a message asking for an extension ahead of the deadline, but it was only seen today. Decided to grant it to her.
An announcement will be going out though that the deadline exists for a reason, and people have to be aware of it before five hours before it's going to pass.
Maybe put it in bigger and brighter letters.
A daily announcement countdown.
Something to make them appreciate the clock. Because I'm a softy that doesn't like saying no when they ask for extensions, but they shouldn't be asked for every challenge either.
