Winter break had come and gone and many new changes were coming for Declan in her journey and discovery of herself. She'd spent the entire break with her great piblings Seamus and Erin at their house in Belfast. It was there that Declan was given the opportunity to begin puberty blockers, which she accepted, as well as where she officially decided on the pronouns she/her. Ms Marni had come by the house to show her how they worked. Apparently Ms Marni, Mrs Nora, and Uncle Seamus had been conspiring to help Declan in any way, shape, and form with her transition. During the summer, Uncle Seamus and Aunt Erin also offered Declan a room at their house should she need it. Having help from most of the important adults in her life definitely helped with the decision to accept the she/her pronouns and officially start on the transition for boy to girl. It was scary to think about, but with so much support, and the added love and support of Sebby and Ms Kinzlie, Declan was ready to face what was coming ahead. When Declan returned to school following winter break, Mrs Nora had told her that the governess would meet with the school's administration to discuss moving her to the girls' dorms and what the transition would mean for Declan. She was excited about the premise and also nervous as to what the other girls in Ravenclaw would think. But many of them, Declan realized, already kind of suspected that the shy boy who had started with them wasn't a boy at all. Ravenclaws were kind of smart like that.
Over winter break, Declan had hand written invitations to a party that she was going to be hosting for her friends the first weekend after winter break. No outfits were required, neither were gifts nor food contributions. Declan would be baking some sweets and she just wanted to gather her friends together. The coming out part was going to be a surprise for most of them. A few people already knew. Sebby, of course. He'd been the third one to know about the transition, but the first one Declan actually spoke the words to. Linsey and Ella knew as well, and so did Tàmhas whom Declan had told on the train when the boy passed by. But beyond that, it was going to be a big surprise, or so Declan thought. When they arrived at the school, Declan spent pretty much all her free time baking sweets, using a litany of different recipes she'd learned or wanted to try. There were muffins and cupcakes, biscuits and croquettes, even a small cake for everyone to share. She'd also gotten some fruit and chocolates from the kitchen to add to the dessert table. Declan also prepared a big sign with bubble letters that she had her best friend (and secret crush) Sebby color in.
The morning of the party, Declan met Sebby at the student kitchens and she instructed the boy to hang the sign up while she set up the dessert table. It was very nicely laid out, with each of her desserts arrayed on the table, adding little cards by each dessert to identify what it was and what was in it, in case any of her friends had food allergies she was unaware of. She was a little nervous to see what the reactions of her friends was going to be, but thus far everyone had accepted her and she'd even gotten a "I already knew" response with a smile. Declan squashed down the fear that was bubbling in her chest, remembering the warm outpouring of support from her family and those she considered family. Turning to Sebby, Declan smiled and her blue eyes twinkled. "Alright Sebby, I think we're ready. I'm so nervous but I'm also so excited!" Her heart was hammering in her chest, but there was no turning back now.

Things had been super weird lately. From learning a whole new set of pronouns for their friend to feeling an immense guilt on the Quidditch Pitch, Seb had been going through all kinds of emotions. Thankfully, winter break meant a chance to sit with Mama and get a lot of the emotions out. She was a really good listener, after all. It was over winter break that Declan said they she was using another new set of pronouns. Seb was very glad he was entrusted, but he always felt terrible if he messed up his words. Kinzlie, on the other hand, was more than happy for Declan, giving her the biggest hug she possibly could.
Once back at school, Seb was helping Dec prepare a party for all their friends, which was fun. She was going to do a bunch of baking things and he was... well, he was mostly there for emotional support. She wanted to do up a big sign, so Seb had her write out the letters, then he spent hours decorating the rest. And the morning of the party, he spent much of the time in the student kitchen to try and help wherever he could. Seb hadn't ever been the best in the kitchen, but it was amazing to watch. "It's gonna be aces, Dec! The best party ever, I bet. Plus also, all our buddies are gonna be here, and what could be better than that?"
He sent over a grin, looking over when the door opened. "A cake! spent hours oan it, 'n' made it wi' loue. A' th' best!" Seb helped hold the door open as Tàmhas walked in, carrying a carefully made trans pride cake.

Tàmhas was very excited to hear that Declan was becoming very much herself. It was a huge step, and one similar to one he'd gone through himself. But either way, he'd forever be proud of his friend. Once back from winter break, he received an invitation to a party in the girl's favor. Very well. He spent much of the night in the main kitchen to bake a multilayered cake for Declan's party. Each layer was colored in correspondence to the trans flag. He worked hard on the decor as well, wanting it to look good too. Declan deserved it!
Walking into the kitchens with the cake, Tàm was glad to see Sebastian there alongside Declan. "Cheers fur inviting me alang, declan. Looks lik' a fin wee day. Hopefully a' body kin mak' it!" He grinned over at the blonde for a second before stepping over to wrap her in a big hug. He was very happy for the whole ordeal, but he knew Declan deserved all the happiness in the world.

Ella had been having a very frustrating morning. It was the day she'd been invited to Declan's little coming-out party, but she wanted to try to make it special. She stood in front of the bathroom mirror for nearly an hour, trying in vain to tie her hair up in a fancy way. It just kept falling down and tangling up. There had to be some trick for it, right? Tàmhas always made it seem so easy! Eventually, Ella just gave up, brushing through the worst of the knots and pushing a headband in the mess. That would just have to work.
From there, she headed down to the kitchen in the Muggle Studies classroom. She'd discovered that it was almost always empty outside of class, and the professor didn't mind her using it. Besides, she wanted the treats for Declan to be a surprise, and the other was actively in the Student Kitchens. With a recipe in hand, Ella started work. It was a lot of chopping up, but finally, her berry muffins went in the oven. She set a timer for precisely 12 minutes, as was written. Once the alarm chimed, she pulled out the tray, sighing a bit at the still slightly liquidy muffins. Why did nothing ever work out when she was cooking?!
Well, she had followed the recipe to an exact, so maybe it would be okay. Maybe that's how they were supposed to be... right? Either way, she carried them next door to the student kitchen, glad that only a few people were there. "H-hi Declan, Sebastian, and Tàmhas. I... I tried to make some berry muffins, but they didn't quite work." Ella sighed softly, setting the tray on the counter beside her. Of course Linsey would be silly to pass anything along to her. Even following recipes perfectly, Ella couldn't get it right. "Aww Ella, I'm sure they're grand!" Seb offered, giving Tàmhas just enough of a distraction that he was able to subtly turn on the oven beside him. Into it went the tray of muffins, all while the older boy set another timer. "Ah gree. A'm sure it'll a' wirk oot juist braw." Well, at least someone had faith in her baking...

Declan grinned at Seb when her best friend said that the party was going to be awesome and that all their friends were going to be there. She hoped that he was correct, but his energy served to bolster her nervous feelings. Just then, Tàmhas arrived, carrying a very amazingly decorated cake with him. "Oh my gosh, Tàm! That cake is so pretty!" Declan said, taking the cake and setting it on the table. Then the older boy wrapped her in a hug and Declan reciprocated. Even though he was short, Tàmhas was still taller than the blonde and she was sure he appreciated that about her. "I'm so glad you're here. Look at all the sweets I baked," she exclaimed happily, showing off the dessert table. The next to arrive was Ella, someone whom Declan considered to be one of her best friends. The two often exchanged books at the library, having their own little secret book club. Declan was glad that she'd come, even though his quiet friend didn't enjoy big gatherings. She said she'd brought muffins but they didn't look like they'd been cooked all the way through. "Oh, they look wonderful, Ella," Deccy said with a smile. She noticed Tàm subtly preheat one of the ovens and slide Ella's muffins into it. "Oh, I brought you a book that my Uncle gave me for Christmas. I already read it through, but I thought you'd like it." Smiling, Declan retrieved a book from his bag and showed it to Ella, sure that she was going to enjoy it as well.

🍀☯🌷☮Lyric had gotten an invitation to a get together over the winter holidays and had, of course, mildly stressed himself over what he should do or bring. It was being hosted by Declan who'd been going through a trial of identity so he had an inkling of what the party was truly about. He didn't understand it much; between his upbringing then living with Eula and the other drag queens, the pendulum kept swinging into extremes with very little stopping. Ultimately, he'd had to do his own bit of research on the matter and came from the unsurprising conclusion that he actually really didn't care. If a person felt how they felt and decided to act accordingly, why should that matter to him? Unless they were being like, a monumental butthole and like, terrorizing people he'd care but, it'd be because they're an a*****e not because of their identity. And since Declan was the furthest being from an a*****e, Lyric had no trouble accepting whatever it was they wanted to share.
On the invite, he saw not to bring gifts or food which according to the girls was basically a glaring sign to do just that. He'd prepared the small gifts leading up to the day as well as some puppy chow mix and as he walked into the kitchen, he was relieved to see he wasn't in fact the only one to bring other stuff. Lyric set the tin of mix by the other foods but was worried about where he should put his other gift.
Looking around a bit, he found Declan will some of the others and walked over to them giving them (her...he thinks?) a grin in greeting. "Hey, thanks for the invite. I um, I can't really bake like everyone but I made a mix? To kinda cut through the sweets I guess. I also made these?" Lyric fiddled with his bag a bit until he held up a jar filled with paper stars brandishing to the group. "I figured out how to make them over break and they're supposed be really good luck, so I thought I could share them with everyone. I just uh, I just don't know where to put them?" the teen asked with a slight shrug.
"Oh, and I made something for you! I saved a few flowers before the plants stopped for winter and managed to preserve some. I figured you'd like the first of them before I made the others." Lyric grinned and pulled out a flower crown from the bag as well to give to Declan. Afon had given him many weird looks when he mentioned what he was going to do and gave him even weirder smirks after he saw the crown. He wasn't sure what he meant by it and honestly, he was just going to ignore his brother which was definitely not hard to do.

When Lyric entered the kitchens, Declan smiled at his friend and waved at the boy. He had brought something as well, which internally made Declan feel a little bad, but if everyone wanted to bring something, then she wouldn't feel as bed. And if there were snacks and desserts left over, Declan could always offer them to the House Elves. Those little guys deserved treats as well and Deccy enjoyed springing surprises on them. "Heya, I'm glad you could make it! I know it's a little short notice. The mix looks amazing, thanks for bringing it." Lyric also brought a jar filled with hand made paper stars. He said they were supposed to bring good luck. Looking around, Declan said, "Uhm, we could put them over here," she said, pointing to the tables where the students could sit and eat their home made foods. But Lyric had one more gift, a very pretty flower crown that he'd made using flowers he'd preserved from the previous growing season. "Oh my gosh, it's so pretty! Thank you so much!" Taking the flower crown from Lyric, Declan put it on her head, pulling her ponytail up through it so it sat around her head properly. "Does it look pretty?"

Linsey was in a happy mood as she headed to the Student Kitchens where Declan’s coming-out party was being held. It delighted her that her dear friend confided in her what was going in her life, and Linsey wanted to be there to support Declan in any way she could. She certainly believed in the idea of expressing one’s soul, and she applauded Declan becoming whom she truly was. Though Declan hadn’t asked for food or gifts, Linsey couldn’t see herself doing nothing aside from just showing up, so she went to work, borrowing space in the school kitchens to create something nice for the occasion.
She created what amounted to a Southern-style sheet cake made with an insanely tasty and rich blondie recipe she created, using her homemade butterscotch. The resultant dessert was rather like a heavy moist cake which would about melt in one’s mouth. It was coated with the simple vanilla icing she made a thousand times previously, though this time around in the bright colours of the trans flag, which she used as the palette for the painting atop the cake. Using her wandless magic, she created an impressionistic painting of a bird taking flight, with swirls of rainbow colours, as though she were using an airbrush. She chuckled at the thought of telling Lewis she’d done her own bit of ‘finger painting’ this morning.
The Seventh Year decided to dress in colourful plumage for the party. She started with a bright robin’s egg blue skirt of her own design, paired with a white dress shirt over which went a sweater she also created, with colours and patterns inspired by one of Lewis’ synesthesia paintings. She finished her outfit off with a pair of strappy high-heeled sandals, while her hair was worn up in a sophisticated style, held in place with stays.
She was carrying the cake on a tray, while there was a bag hanging off her arm with the gift she’d managed to pull together for the occasion. All that could be seen was an expensive looking box bearing the Cloak & Coven imprint upon it. As Linsey arrived, she saw there was already a nice gathering of folk for Declan’s shindig, which gladdened her heart. “Hi, everybody,” she said sunnily, as she walked into the room. “Wow, this looks so cool, this is absolute aces, and I love the crown, it’s splendid.”

Over winter break, Tambry had helped her parents in a big winter production of Il Trovatore. It had all turned out beautifully and she quite enjoyed being on stage. It sucked being at school where there was nowhere to dance. She was in Drama Club, but it wasn't the same as a full theater production with perfect choreography. Then again, there was only so much a school could do. Over the break, she had gotten a lovely invitation to a party hosted by Declan, one of her dear friends.
The morning of the party, Tambry had been practicing some dancing. The moment that the party was to start, she hurried off. It was way too often that she was a little late! She shoved her slippers into her ribbon-laced converse and pulled on a sweater before running off. The party was in the student kitchens and Declan said there would be food provided. So lovely! When Tambry made it in, she looked around before eyeing the sign. Oh, it was a gender reveal party, but for Declan? "Declan! Oh, such wonderful news! Thanks for inviting me to such a nice little shindig!" She immediately pulled her friend into a hug, before stepping back a bit. "This all looks so great!"

🍀☯🌷☮Lyric just grinned a tad embarrassed as Declan thanked him for coming as well as for the mix. He still had no idea why it was called "puppy mix" but he knew he and Afon could demolish an entire bowl of it no problem. So he figured it would surely be ok for this gathering party thing. They also thankfully had an answer as to where he could put the stars for everyone to take their fill. He'd thought about writing little inspirations on the inside of each one but after the fifth one he gave up and just made sure to use different colored or patterned papers. When Declan placed the flower crown on their head and asked how it looked, Lyric couldn't help nodding, happy that the colors he chose complimented their hair the way he hoped they would. "It does! I was a bit worried about the yellow but I'm happy you're happy. Oh, Seb!" The Slytherin suddenly turned towards the now pinkish haired boy. "What do you think? I want to make one for everyone in gardening club. If everyone wanted one, of course." He'd feel weird if he like, forced a gift onto someone so he should probably ask the others before he put in the time to actually make them. But he didn't think Sebastian would be an issue. His hair color on the other hand would be; the teen changed so often Lyric was afraid of accidentally clashing whatever he chose. Maybe bracelets could be an alternative?

Seb watched as their friends all moseyed in, all with snacks (though he was pretty sure the invite everyone got said to not do that!). But at least most of the snacks looked really yummy. Ella's was... well, thankfully Tàm had everything taken care of. Seb leaned against one of the counters, investigating the mix that Lyric brought in. Glancing over at Declan, who seemed distracted, he stole a few bits of the mix and dropped them into his mouth. It was really good!
Lyric gave Declan a fancy flower crown, and Dec pulled her hair through it. It was really pretty! Though Seb hadn't been expecting to be asked about it. Apparently Lyric had been thinking about making one for all the people in the Herbology Club, which was really nice. "I think they're ace! The colors are real pretty and I think they'd look real good on everyone! I want like... forty...zillion." He sent over a happy grin, thinking it'd be a fun accessory to wear.
"Ah gree. They keek pure fancy. Weel dane, Lyric!" Tàm added in, before peeking in the oven beside him. "It's very fancy." Ella added, scooting over and standing beside her sister. That move, thankfully, gave Tàmhas a second to reach into the oven and pull out Ella's muffins. He set them on a trivet and turned of the oven with a sigh. Crisis averted. "But I think the flowers look best on Dec. Very pretty up there!"
Luna had received an invitation for Declan’s coming out party and she was not going to miss it. Nothing was going to stop her from being in attendance. She just needed to make the journey from the Ravenclaw common room to the kitchen. Not like she hadn’t done that before given she was part of the cooking club. She was not about to come empty handed, so she came with a tray of varies snacks.
Making her way down, Luna made it to the hall where the kitchen was. It was there she came across Fiadh. The Hufflepuff must have been coming from their common room. Lucky for the badgers was a lot closer. “Hey Luna, need a hand.” Fiadh offered the Ravenclaw with a smile. “Sure, thanks.” Luna said with a nod. “You headed to the kitchen too?” She asked. “Yep, got to show my support.” Fiadh didn’t want to ever be on the side of not being supportive. Declan was her friend after all.
The two girls entered the kitchen to a good group of people. They had to be given they were all here to support Declan. “We made it.” Fiadh announced as Luna ran over to be amused by the very cute trans colored cake. “So cute! Who made it.” Luna questioned. Fiadh walked over with a smile. “Luna brought snacks.” She said presenting the tray. “Love the flowers.” She added with an even bigger smile.

Over winter break, Everly had gotten an invitation from Declan. Apparently, it was a coming out party, which was such lovely news. She'd also gotten a letter from Tàmhas, asking for help with planning an accessible veggie garden. She'd get to help place build all the planter boxes, which were going to be a fun challenge. The morning of Declan's party, Everly was hard at work in one of the unused classrooms, building one of the boxes. On top, she'd be building small greenhouse-sorts of roofs, there to protect any plants from the brutal winters in Scotland.
She'd been planning on building a gift for Declan, but time got away from her. Standing up, Everly dusted sawdust off her outfit, putting everything back in her little toolkit. Once she was clean enough, the girl hurried across the school. Just before the door, Everly fixed her hair to try and look at least a little tidy. Stepping in, Evie grinned over at her friends. "Hey Dec! Thanks for having me! This party looks fun!" She pulled her friend into a hug, before realizing she was a bit of a disheveled mess. "Sorry, I was working on a project for Tàmhas."
As Luna and Fiadh asked about the snacks, Tàmhas spoke up. "Maist o' 'twas Declan, ah hawp. Then Ah did up this cake, Ella made us some bonnie muffins, Linsey made a sheet cake, ah tink, 'n' Lyric brought a puppy mix. It a' looks lik' na yin follaed th' instructions tae nae bring treats!" Tàm laughed, glad that everyone seemed on the same page, at least. "Yea, everyone brought goodies! And Lyric made the coolest flower crown for the party gal!" Seb gently nudged Dec, a grin on his face.
Ella looked over at the muffins, seeming a bit surprised that they were now perfectly risen and a little steamy. How did that happen? She glanced around, but noticed Tàm offer a little wink. The shorter brunette smiled, leaning against her sister for comfort. At least Linsey wouldn't know that things had gone horribly awry...

There were already a bunch of her friends at the party, but Declan was hoping that more would show up. It would be easier to tell everyone together than individually. Linsey joined the party and Declan smiled widely. "Thank you. Oh, the crown was Lyric's doing. He made it as a gift." Declan modeled the crown for a moment with a smile. When Tambry practically danced into the kitchen, Declan smiled at her and welcomed her in. She'd been the first friend the blonde had made all on her own and that had given her the courage to develop other friendships. "I'm glad you could make it!" The blonde hugged Tambry and gestured over at the snack table. "I made some treats and a few people brought some snacks as well. Feel free to enjoy them." The next to arrive was Luna and Fiadh together, two of Declan's first friends and both from her year. Luna was admiring Tàm's cake, which brought another smile to the blonde's face. She was still learning the significance of the colors, but they were apparently the transgender pride flag. She'd get that down eventually. Fi was carrying a tray of snacks that Luna had made and Deccy took them from her and put them on the table as well. "I'm glad you both could make it! We have so much snacks now," Declan said with a little giggle. "Please, everyone make sure to eat some!" The door opened again and this time it was Everly arriving. They'd only become real friends, instead of just acquaintances and housemates, this year, but she'd played an important part in Declan's transition. It seemed so small at first, giving Declan a scrunchie to tie her hair back, but it helped push the blonde towards having her conversation with Ms Marni when she did. Everly wrapped Deccy in a big hug and the blonde happily returned it. She apologized for being a disheveled mess, but Declan waved it away. "Psh, you look super pretty as always." Declan beamed at her, then looked around at all his friends who'd already arrived. If you had told her four years ago that she'd have this many friends... Declan would have never believed you.
Ethan Brody Quimby-Winthrop Ravenclaw Fourth Year Half Blood - Fourteen Years Old
Location : Student Kitchens : Declan's Party Company : Declan and others...
Ethan had noticed some differences with Declan but had never pried into it. Declan was his housemate and perhaps a friend even. He had at least four friends he could think of since starting in first year. Ethan had never had the best of luck making relationships. Though he was one for being open and friendly, he wouldn’t say he was one people gravitated towards. It would explain why he never got sorted into Hufflepuff. Course there were other factors, but it wasn’t hard to see how he didn’t make the cut for certain houses.
The fourth year had accepted the invitation to the party, which meant walking down the halls of the castle. It was a decent trek, but Ethan wasn’t worried about it, you got used to the trip when you traveled around the school for classes and the like. Heading toward the kitchen he could hear the voices. Upon entering it was quite the turn out. Ethan felt a little out of place but found a smile on his face all the same. By the looks of things this was a significant party and one with a whole lot of snacks.
