I would say any mispelled words or sentences just bug me. I have a very bad habit of correcting their mistakes. It would be written or verbal. Either way, it must be corrected. They all bug me the same way. sweatdrop

Call me unusual, but the iPod spelling miffs me. I am not bashing the technology, just the spelling of it. That being said, being a part of an "i" community sounds a bit degrading in my oppinion. We value our individuality in this country, so why would you want to lower case your self?
"I" don't get it. IEditYourWorld

.Never.Forever. Elanchana Oh, and don't forget grammar vs. grammer. We had that as a nevermiss word for the longest time. Nevermiss = a special spelling test in the Montessori 9-12 class (those are the ages, not the grades) where the testing doesn't end until everyone gets 100%. That must be a helluva long day. It went on for several days, actually. We had a portion of each day reserved for spelling tests.

It's "opinion". There is my example. Also, I hate the mis-spelling of "necessary". It's one collar, two sleeves. ;] dark_elf stuntmonkey I hate it when people do not capitalize the letter "I" Ugh gonk I also hate it when people spell congratulations like "congradulations" It makes me want to kick them between their legs. Whats wrong with caping "I", we are supposed right? With the congratulations....I'm guilty of spelling it with the d because I thought that it was spelled that way. sweatdrop Get out. Now. stare

Musomaniac The miss use of the word "don't". Correct: "Don't touch that!" Incorrect: "We have this movie already, don't we?" Same with "aren't" and every other "n't" word. Maybe I'm not understanding why you don't like the use of don't in your incorrect example. As far as I know this is correct, and this website would seem to back me up: http://www.wordpower.ws/grammar/gramch02.htmlWord Power c. Negative questionsTo form a negative question, the Simple Present of the auxiliary do is placed before the subject, and the word not followed by the bare infinitive is placed after the subject. However, when contractions are used, the contracted form of not follows immediately after the Simple Present of the auxiliary do. For example: Without contractions With contractions Do I not work? Don't I work? Do you not work? Don't you work? Does he not work? Doesn't he work? Does she not work? Doesn't she work? Does it not work? Doesn't it work? Do we not work? Don't we work? Do they not work? Don't they work? See Exercise 8. d. Tag questionsThe auxiliary do or does is used for a tag question which follows a statement containing the Simple Present of a verb other than the verb to be. In the following examples, the negative tag questions are underlined. Contractions are usually used in negative tag questions. Affirmative Statement Affirmative Statement with Tag Question I work. I work, don't I? You work. You work, don't you? He works. He works, doesn't he? She works. She works, doesn't she? It works. It works, doesn't it? We work. We work, don't we? They work. They work, don't they? Sorry for the goofy look of the tables; I couldn't find a way to get them to format properly.

BlindingTwilight Anywho, two things that really annoy me are the incorrect uses of there, they're, and their, as well as the uses of your and you're. Agreed! This annoys me a hell of a lot!

An instance of words that irritate me when not written right is when people substitute "expose" for "suppose." A common usage of this mistake is by my brother. He must not know the difference between the words.

I'd say "accept" and "except" is my biggest pet peeve... except, of course, "effect" and "affect." E's and A's getting mixed up is just annoying sometimes.
"I'll except your gift." "Everyone accept him."
... See?

I agree with all of you. I really hate people who spell words wrong.I really mean it. One time I was in Gaia Towns and I saw someone who typed "Probly".What's worse is, he's a teenager.

Though I tend to zero in on mistakes in general, the worst offense is definitely when people mix up their/they're/there and other homonyms, especially when more than one is used in the same sentence. Really, it is not that difficult to keep them straight. 'Grammer' is another one that just grates on my nerves. More that come to mind are effect/affect, etc., when people use 'irregardless' when it should be simply 'regardless', and when people use the simple past form of a verb instead of the past participle even though the past perfect form is being used. And of course there is the dreaded text talk, which is just evil.
