I think it's to keep n00bs from putting every little thing in their inventory on sale.

But I use a few mules and my husbands account to sell stuff as well. I therefore have up to 20 slots available, unless the boy is in an ink/bug trading mood.

Thanks for the invite, and for writing such an informative article.

What I've found that has worked for me is to prowl around the exchange looking for sales on high turnover, popular items. Once I have found one that I like, I try to bid below the vend price. My aim in this is to get a price at, or over, 1k below the lowest buy price in the marketplace. Having obtained the item this way, I will sell it for a couple hundred below the low price. I have made a rather large, to me, amount of gold in a short amount of time.

@ V. Wolfe: I'll have to remember that thing with the mules. Several times, I've been frustrated by the fact that I couldn't put any more items up for sale because of the limit of four.

technically the entirety of the gaia world is worth close to nothing
the gaia business and website is probably worth loads but that is for other reasons
I mean
you can give gia 30 dollars and get gold and an item
but techinically the gold and the item is all virtual and non-existant
and since there really are not any set prices for the items, or any I know of then, technically the worth of specials in terms of Gold are either worthless-priceless dependant on how well the item catches on

Everyone seems to be missing the point about inflation of donation items in the marketplace. . .
it is going to happen.

Lets looka at some basic things:

Donation Items:
1. There are a fixed number of donation items at the end of each month; as dicated by how many people buy them.

2. Some people leave Gaia and the donation items they have go away with them (banned people)

3. Gaia Is growing, therfore each months there are more of a given donation item than the last month.

Overall That means old donation items get more and more rare.

Gold

1. Gold supply goes up over time as more people post.

2. Gold supply only goes down as people buy in stores or are banned/leave

Gaia is printing gold every day constantly devaluing the gold piece.

So what do I intentend to do about it? Nothing it is the way gaia's econemy is set up. . . So

1. I keep most of my profits in donation items which appreciate.
2. I make money for the things I want buy buying all of the lower priced product and selling higher .

So sorry if you can't keep up but think about it it's not all that hard.

I agree, for example, not to long ago the Kiki was only 40k now it's has risen up to an astonishing 100k....Which i see no reason in why it has done this, and the coco is also risen up to 40k, sooner or later the kiki will be in the millions and the coco will be in the 100k's....I see no reason for people to inflate the prices, there just gold hungry people.... I get gold my doing games and earning it, not by buying and selling, well, beside the tokens that i buy, and i have also just put up my very own Lotto, Not much people have joined yet but remember it's very new.... So, as i was saying, The reason for inflation on prices is because people do lust for gold, as many lust for money in the real life.... So i applaud your work and well done ^^

The down side of my policies of course is that if you want a donation item I'm working on Misty the price will probably double while you asre saving upfor it.

Nice thoughts there. And yea, it will be interesting to see how things go.

My experience in the market place is limited to tokens/tickets and the occasional foray into donation items collectables. But yea, when the casino shop is closed, tokens get more pricy. Although if you are patient, and quick with the mouse, you can still get 1 token for 1 gold.

Recently the prize and joy store was down for an extended amount of time too, and tickets became more valuable. Course I only got in on the tail end of that craze unfortunately.

As for my "income" I usually bring in about 10K in gold per day i'm on Gaia, that's made by buying tokens in the market place, occasionally for less then a gold per token. Then playinig blackjack for tickets, and selling the tickets on the marketplace for about 2.2 gold per ticket. So in about 2-3 hours I can win around 4500 tickets and sell them for around 10K

Now where are we on the rather taboo subject of buying gold from places like ebay and the like? How does that fit into your economic theories?

Very nicely put Engi,
that is exactly how it works, recently because of the increase in population (meaning popularity to play gaia) in gaia the prices of donation items as they used to be called, has been going up at an incredible pace. it's again the whole suply and demand, not enoguht items and too many people that want them. anyhow i really enjoyed reading this.

carefull with the ebay, gaia has already put out a warning for it.
you might end up dollar-less and gold-less it's a risky move.
