Anyway... this is something I claimed as "my dowry"... well, most of it. There's another board about this size.
Apparently my great-grandfather was a sort of graverobber... but they were all graves in asia and africa, so no one really minds. (AKA No, Dr. Jones, you're not an archologist.)

Ok this proves my point.. everyone in the sca has this same knife.

I have it, I know like 1756900145 other people in the SCA who have it. its everywhere!

Also nice collection... I think you have as many as me.. maybe a little less.

Yah I have a few more. One is a lovely rapier.

Except for the handle of my dagger being stained blue, it's the same bloody one! Jeesh...I know who I bought it from, wonder if he just gets around or if he's part of a network of merchants? I'll have to ask him next time I see him.

I bought my first sword this past weekend at Autumn Rose, Shire of Rokeclif in Northshield. I had a very specific sword in mind and when I didn't see one to fit what I wanted, I was determined not to purchase one. The problem was Friday night I picked up a broadsword and I couldn't put it down.
I returned to the sword throughout Saturday. The merchant said the sword and I were drawn to each other and I had a gaggle of friends around me who weren't arguing with him. I could not stop picking up the sword! It felt so right in my hand, in either hand. My friends unanimously told me to just buy it already, so I finally did.
Only because SCAdian merchants are willing to give great deals so I can tell myself not to feel guilty. The merchant even told me to e-mail him an image of the sword I was looking for and he'd keep an eye out for it.
Looks like I might wind up with two swords someday. Considering I don't fight in or out of the SCA, nor do I keep a collection of pointy things, I'm amassing a decent store of weapons. I now have half a dozen throwing knives, a dagger and a sword. Not a lot to some of you folks, but a solid number all the same.

I got my first dagger when I was eleven, and my first swords this year at Pennsic. (three katana whee )
