engineer-of-doom Have you read any of these books? Anthem The Fountainhead Atlas Shrugged We the LivingIf you have, then I strongly suggest you take a look at the following subforum ObjectivismFurthermore, if you know of any Gaian friends who have an interest in those books or Objectivism itself, please recommend them to Sein_Ist, bluecherry or myself. Thank you.
As my username might suggest, I've definitely read Atlas Shrugged, and nearly couldn't put it down when I first picked it up last Summer. Haven't gotten around to any of the others yet, but a friend of mine has all but insisted I get to reading Anthem and the Fountainhead soon as well, as they're also supposed to provide some good insights into Objectivism in general, as well as just an alternate mindset to some of the prevailing theories about morality in society, for people that don't really follow the notion of a virtue in being 'selfish'.
But yeah, I'm pretty surprised at all the replies. I know they're long reads, but seriously, it's worth it even if you don't agree with her.

I've read all of those but Anthem, and I assume I'll read that at some point too.
I was actually home schooled by libertarian, off the wall parents, so while I was never forced to read any Ayn Rand, it was suggested often enough and when I eventually did cave and read some I was glad to have done it. I read the fountain head first, and could hardly put it down.
Weirdly enough, I was invited to join this guild because I had a cool avatar, which gave me the impression that this was going to be a silly fashion based guild, and of little interest to me. For the most part it does look like it’s of little interest to me, but the join fee was zero, and this one sub-forum and thread looked kind of interesting.
*smiles* and I figured maybe something else would turn out interesting too.
Rand might not have all the answers, but she's definitaly a good read.
