if you want to draw well, don't draw from memory. REFERENCE REFERENCE REFERENCE REFERENCE REFERENCE REFERENCE REFERENCE REFERENCE
google image search is your best friend I think howstuffworks.com might help with technical things about stuff
you may draw from your head once you know a lot about how the object you're drawing from visual experience.
This goes for anything and everyone. No one told me these things when I was starting out so I missed out on a lot of tips that could have made me a lot better than I am right now.
So I'm telling you guys now. If you don't reference things at all, you'll have a hard time. Even for cartoony toons. All those are, are simplified versions of the real thing. 3nodding
so do me, and yourself a favor, reference.

I'm working on a picture from the FLCL manga, Canti holding Naota/Takkun. I'll get it on here when it's not a WIP. Just wanted to post that because I haven't posted anything in awhile, and I am proud of it so far.

I normally reference stuff, but... meh... I just didn't really feel like it for this piece. then again, clearly I'm in an off state of mind as of late...

P.S. Sorry I've not been on much or drawing. This last week has been kinda odd for me. I'm trying to get back into the swing of things as we speak

12th June 2007~
My first picture post in the guild, I doodled this and then decided to add some colour to it. I only used the crappy free program that came with my scanner but I still kinda like it. ^^; It was only a quick doodle, but still, voila:
It's only sketchy, but that's kinda the look I was going for.

I did this one a few days ago, and I thought I'd post it. I hand drew the avi and the letters, but everything else is Photoshop Elements 5.0, including the coloring. Hope ya like it!
It said on that monthly schedule thing that yesterday's theme was 'cats' so I drew my cat while I had the chance! ...
Sorry it's late. I did a quick study of my cat, Milo. He's a seal-mitted pointer ragdoll. He's a gorgeous puss. I caught him in one of his lazy day posistions so took a picture and drew/coloured what I could while he was there. I put a sort of blue grey around it to take the starkness of the white away, this way my highlights stand out more. Not that great, but it was fun to do. ^^; (Done with tablet and Adobe Photoshop 7.0)
@ Kangaroo: As for the elf doodle thing, she has her eyes closed. ^^;

Just playing around on MsPaint. Mouse was being a dummy, but I pulled it off.

so this is my first drawing here in the guild. This is for yesterday's theme cats. I just got a cat named after one of my character, Lucy (this character) So i drew lucy with cat ears. I mostly drew this becuase i don't like drawing animals and yet i still drew a funky bunny. ^^' The animal belongs to the same story as lucy and it's not ever a happy bunny, aw.
