Thats because we're finally meshing as a group and making characters that dont overlap abilities.

If buff weapons won wars, then why did the Empire lose?

Out of the nine people in my weekend gaming group four of us, actually make characters that compliment each other when a new campaign is started. Out of the four three of us are actually able to work together to the point that no power in the ‘verse can stop us. The others still try to one up each other, even to the point of backstabbing other characters sometimes they can be a pain in the a**, but they definitely keep us on our toes as we try to keep them pointed in the right direction.

Yes, one of my GM’s runs live action in the local forest. I play a random wandering monster for him.(not many people want to play monsters, it’s a hard life) If you’re able to kill me, you get experience points as well as gold.
Monsters rule, characters drool. twisted

Yeah, I'm trying to get the guys in the game I'm in to stop backstabbing each other long enough to do something, but not much luck with that so far. It can be hilarious at times, though...
Just keeping the party from splitting up in 5 different directions is a challenge...

The group I fight with doesn't LARP, we just have mock battles all day long...
...then we go home and play D&D. We likes to keep em' separate.

No kidding, luckily three of us are able to control the loose cannons and keep them on a short leash, until combat starts, and then it’s all about keeping them pointed in the right direction. One of my GM’s has an easy solution to keep the party together, if you wonder off alone with out the rest of the group…your character finds something nasty that’ll kill the character damn quick unless they make it back to the rest of the party. It’s that safety in numbers thing. Other games have been ripped apart because of characters not working together and fracking over the other players.

Yeah, my GM lets us pretty much do anything, as long as we have a semi-logical roleplaying reason why we'd want to do so. So naturally, we have our Ranger in service to the the Demon Lord Orcus, our Halfling Rogue becoming a hero in the eyes of the majority of her race, our Bard turned into a dwarf and put into prison for shoplifting, our Hexblade hiring extra-planar mercenaries, and our Sorcerer killing every other random person he runs into.

The problem we've faced in the past is that one person in our group loves to be the meat shield that destroys everything in his path. This has caused problems when someone else has tried a melee character at the same time and then things become a competition on who can kill better and take more damage. He also generally loves to just mess around and cause just general and goofy chaos. Though at times it's hilarious, other times not so much.

I enjoy stealth and espionage the most. Things that the meat shield guy can't stand doing. Which leads to job security. Which reminds me; Cale, I have a new back up character in case my bounty hunter dies. It would be an ex-Imperial Intelligence agent. The character would be heavily influenced by the tv show "Burn Notice" (One of my favorite shows.)
