Well the media is definitely more liberal. That does seem to shift focus towards one viewpoint. The other thing is location, due to where most of the major media stations broadcast from.

The news seems to focus on the fads so much more now. And Celebrities. Makes it real hard to watch news on the TV. Like a year ago when Anna Nicole died.

In other news today, the Large Hadron Collider was activated and didnt kill us all. Yet.
So thats good news. Though Stellar's probably already thinking of ways to hijack it and use it for creating a black hole in France.

Read this.Once again. There are already colliders that have been used for research for years. They're not even going to run it at full capacity yet. Plus the Black Holes are caused by stars exploding.

Interesting. Things like that really show the great culture difference between the two.

Another reason why I don't think the Dark Knight would be recieved so well is due to the type of criminal he fights. Over there, the judicial system has more trouble with big time bribing and yakuza than small time theives and stuff. The idea that Gotham could remind them of their own civilization might be like if we started getting shoved michael moore movies about the war in iraq.
Just a theory. Plus, again, it is a really long movie, and unless you're willing to commit to it being dark or extensive plotwise, it's not really something easily catered to. It's a great movie in it's own respects, but let's face it: it wasn't the best movie of all time. Between the super pre-hype and the specific style of the movie being not exactly audience-friendly, i'm not entirely surprized.
Personally, i think it's more of a display of just how ignorant americans are to Japanese way of life more than how Japan hates american movies. We're stuck in teh happy-go-lucky anime picture of Japan, something which really doesn't exist. But heaven forbid we dont think hello kitty walks the streets on every girl's backpack, they all know kung fu, and the supernatural wins every time.

I thought Hello Kitty was a Korean invention. And of course they dont all know kung fu. Kung Fu is Chinese. And of course the Supernatural doesnt always win. Western mythology and lore are stuffed full of stories about men beating the s**t out of the supernatural, and even a king of Scotland was quoted as saying that Necromancers control devils, unlike witches who are controled by devils.
Japan is a messed up place. But then again 200 years of isolation will generally ******** just about anyone up.
