;_; Queenie's acting funny....shes staying at the bottom of her home, and dosen't want to come close to me. She useualy comes over to me...but wont now...
Mantis mood swings have been known to happen after shedding, especially with the girlies. First off, what kind of cage is she in? Is there screening on the sides/top or his she still in the plastic cup thing. She just doubled in size, so it is probably getting harder for her to comfortably hang form the sides of slick surfaces. That or she might just be in a ground mood. My mantises go through stretches were they sometimes prefer the ground.

As long as she is eating, drinking, and passing whaste, I wouldn't be too worried about health problems. She might just have gotten a little hand shy as I call it. For some reason I've noticed that about mid time (as far as sheddings) mantises can sometimes undergo a slight personality twist. Females seem especially prone to this. They often become as little less crawly, and sometimes seem to clam up a bit when it comes to hands and people/movement. Just gently coax her out of her cage, and take things slow. Get down to her level with your face and rock back and forth, do some fun movements with your head while she is staring at you. Maybe some peak a boo, and you should have her warming up some in no time. Most mantises seem to get back into their usual swing, although some females just become less crawly.

Well that's good.

(sniffle) We need to have a mantis play date, I can see it now...

(Both mantises are placed together)

Redrum- (looks down at much smaller Queeny) twisted

Queeny- (looks up at Queen size Redrum) sweatdrop

Redrum- (takes a step forward) ninja

Queeny- (bolts) eek

Redrum- (Tries to give chase but is way too fat) crying

Both mantises end up eating fat juicy crickets instead. rofl

I do like mantasis, but I would rather see them in the wild than have one as a pet. 3nodding

Been thinking about getting the pair of gerbils I want before I move out, but that probably is not a good idea. sweatdrop Not with the cats and dogs we have, they would kill the poor things if they ever got out.

Good luck with getting those gerbils. 3nodding Just be carefull: They have long legs for a reason. They can jump REALLY high.

As for our pets: Sheol and I are saving up for ferrets. 3nodding

*growls* I'm not very happy with my parents. About 2 weeks ago, they both agreed to allow me to a local (10 minute walk from my house) LAN Party for the full time. However at the start of the week they said that I'm allowed to go during the day. This is starting to piss me off since they're changing their promises. However, so far I'm not allowed to be from 2AM-7AM which is ok I suppose, however..... it's still annoying me.....
Oh well..... I can't wait to see their faces when I tell them I want to go to the January one.

NG- XD sounds like a fun group of bunnies.

Too bad our mantises wouldn't get along that well. At least not with the eating of one another. There are some species however that you can cage and keep peacefully together. I want to get some of them (like the wondering violen mantis and keep them together. I mean can you just image how adorable a group of mantises would look. 4laugh

Zella- YAY! Spread the mantis love!!!! Do you have a link to the mantis set you will be getting?

Diana Vulpes- That's why during Spring you order some mantis egg casses from one of the benefical insect sites, and release the babies in you garden. That's what I do with the hundreds of babies that hatch from the egg casses that I don't keep. XD I have to admitt though that mantises make great pets. So far I haven't met a mantis yet who isn't an attention whore, thriving off human interaction. I've always found the way to tell if an animal is happy, is they don't run away from you when you take them out of a cage, but run to you. XD

You have to tell me how the gerbil thing goes. They always seemed way to skittish to me, but I haven't seen any outside of school/petstores. Guess I was more of a hamster person. Can't blame me though since I had the best hamster on the face of the earth. Was my first pet too. Named him Peanut... only it was really a girl, but I was to young at the time to relize that/didn't have any male hamsters to compair her with. My dad knew, once the Peanut got a little older, since he raised hamsters, but I guess he figured why not let me go on beliving it was a boy. XD

Rainy- I want a new pupy. XP Have fun, which I'm sure you will. Who can't love rolly polly puppies.
