and she told me how they did something with 2012 and the words 'annihilation,' 'meteor,' and 'end of days' came up and it totally
bummed me out because they asked a whole bunch of other questions

Well first of all, it is well known int he scientific community that the brain of a man has a special part which is slightly enlarged than in the brain of a woman (forgot the name of it), and in transgendered people, the GENDER (note, not sex) of the person matches the size of this part of the brain. So physically, scientifically, genetically, hormonally, gender is NOT binary. I'm not sure which kind of biology teachers she has had, but nothing in science says that there are only two genders, or even sexes. The world doesn't come in xx and xy. From her religious point of view, her God gave these people their minds as well. Sometimes the mind does not match the outside of the body, and God must have done this then. If there are other people hurt in this world, caused by this God, then she has to accept this as well, even if it is not the current church's trend to do so.
